They really liked the camera. The problem with pike and muakie coexisting is that the pike hatch in April and they geow big enough to feed on the muskie that hatch in june. This battle cannot be won, however at a lake in the US, they restocked with muskie that spawn on sandbars instead of the weedy areas. I dont know the results, but what is to stop the young muskie from moving from the sandbars after birth to the weeds
The camera is Water Wolf 1.1. They are discontinued, but 2.0 is available in Europe, hopefully soon in North America too. There is similar camera from Aqua-Vu, but I haven't tried it yet. Rigging is simple. Just attach it to the end of the line and then lure to it.
Can't beat the zone 17 all year piking! Sucks they destroy the musky over time. Would be sweet if they could be contained in Mitchel lake or canal and just have 1 or 2 pike lakes in the kawarthas. Ever get a tiger musky yet?
I noticed your trolling rig with 2 believers, would you consider doing rigging video on that? Pretty unusual :) I guess you remove some hooks to make it legal here in Ontario Thanks!
Can't tell you how many I've caught the exact same way - thinking I have weeds or something wrong with my lure so reel in quickly, only to get a nice strike before I get the line in!
Holguin, Cuba. Charter is close to Playa Pesquero, only one in that area I think. Just ask in a Hotel, also ask for largest boat, captain name is Matamoro.
Man, I have that exact perch lure, hilarious that its still being made, it sits in the mouth of the 40lb musky my dad caught in the 80s that hangs on the wall.
I used Waterwolf UW 1.1 and kept lure maybe 1.5 - 2ft in front of lure. Unfortunatelly, this camera is discintinued, but good news is that version 2.0 of the camera has been recently announced. Has some very promising improvements, but didn't have a chance to test it yet.
Early spring I fish 99% of the time with jerkbaits displayed in the video. I always have various colours, but just rapala husky jerk and original floating minnow. On a slow days i would try stuff like sebile magic swimmer or mepps black furry or some spinnerbaits, but sooner or later I would go back to jerk baits. I am sure pike would take other lures, as they are not picky. Regarding location, I am looking for area with at least some old weeds. It doesn't matter if it doesn't look that good, it's early spring and everything is dead.
I don't have the full footage any more, but that was one of my favorite catches. It is not that visible on the video, but fish jumped out of the water with my lure in its mouth. Thanks for watching!
Looks like there is a healthy population of Walleye there too, but the reason there are so many Pike is probably because not many anglers keep Pike. It's a shame, because they are one of the tastier fresh water fish
And every time you travel to Cuba you contribute with the dictatorship and to the suffering and oppression of the Cuban people, please consider not going there #soscuba #patriayvida
Thanks! Yeah, knock on wood, boat is doing fine. Those are some recordings from last year which I finally found time to work on. Musky season starts in 2 weeks, so I hope there will be more video editing work for me 😁
Thanks. I heard about Mega Lures, never tried them. In Serbia, there is lot of bait makers, but most of them are not used to make 'musky size' baits. It took me awhile to pursue my cousin to go that big :)
