Footage from my underwater camera during weekend of fishing Balsam Lake, Ontario in June 2019.
You will see various fish like pike, walleye, musky and bass ... and some of them really love my camera. :)

Looks like there is a healthy population of Walleye there too, but the reason there are so many Pike is probably because not many anglers keep Pike. It's a shame, because they are one of the tastier fresh water fish

I fished Balsam a few times when I was a kid and only ever pulled out bass. Never saw anyone get anything but bass.

Where are u getting ur pike strikes? I have been fishing for pike as much as possible for the past 2 weeks on balsam but the only strike we had bit thro our line

I get pike strikes mostly early in the season, in shallow bays, 5-10 feet of water.

When I go out I keep all the pike I catch on balsam to get rid of them. I've noticed over the pass few years tho numbers have dropped significantly

I do the same - pike filets are good :) Also on some days I tend to think that there is less pike, but on some days like this one in June ...

Interesting! If there are too many pike then a ministry no-release order should be issued for the species. I like the camera work! What happened to the hooked?

Thanks Rob. Yes, I hope something will be done about it. I caught 2 walleyes and one musky (that was 38" musky that was hooked), put them all back to the water.

@@MightyMarioBros378 you are mistaken. Parks Canada allowed them through the locks at Canal lake 10 or so years ago. There were never any Pike in Balsam prior to that.
