great work, I am about to do my valve cover gasket and lifters on my 89 v6 montero. I have that nasty lifter tick. can you do the valve stem seals without removing the heads?
I believe there is a cam or crank sensor wire that is supposed to feed through the notch at the bottom of the cover. Make sure you are not pinching or crushing it
It's worth buying yours after it's all been thoroughly documented on video. I have trust issues (lol) but seeing all the hard work makes a compelling case for buying yours specifically!
I just drove a ram 50 with a 4D55T and it was awesome!! I was going to buy it but the engine was pretty tired and built pressure in the cooling system.
I swapped a 4d55 into a wrangler last year. Had been sitting an unknown amount of time. Came with the injection pump removed and completely dissassembled. Anyway, has similar blowby, if not a little more, to what your showing, but it had to be cranked FOREVER to get all the air out of the injection lines and actually get it to even try to start. I dont have a diesel compression tester, but even with the blowby it maxes out my gas compression testers gauge at 300psi. I beleive 320-340 is what I have read is acceptable for this engine. Engine starts and runs great now that ive kept at it long enough to get a lot of the bugs worked out. On hot days it will fire right up, no glow plugs needed. When its in the 70's about 5 seconds on the glow plugs and it will fire on the first crank. I had no previous experience with diesels whatsoever, and it was a major bear to find tuning info and pump rebuild info for this engine.
That's a sweet upgrade. I had no idea that the pajero sport came with bigger brakes, I'll have to scour for those calipers. On the wheel bearing nut, I normally just use put a flat head screw driver at an angle on one of those holes, and then just gently keep tapping it with a hammer until it feels tight.
Hey man I just bought my old childhood 88 Montero and the man I bought it back from had out this engine in. Any info you could give me or I could share mine with you if you were interested!
I’m kinda scared to do this but this video is making it a little easier for me. Will this work for g body el cos the same as a body’s? How long with all the parts here should I expect to get it done if I work on it everyday? Thank you
I thinknits actually easier on G-bodies. It will be similar. With all the parts and a shop you shouldnt have any more than a week max. Thats taking into account broken bolts and wiring problems haha
