And on this channel, Beth Magnetic, a Mormon True Crime fanatic & a former member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for nearly 30 years does her best to provide an unbiased telling of True Crime Stories in a way that’s safe for the Mormons, verifiable enough for the Exmormons, and compelling enough for the Never Mormons.
I’ll explore IF Doctrine and theology may have played a role in the stories, for better or worse.
From Hoffman to Bundy to Daybell to Lafferty to Adams, we’re here to deep dive into it all.

I was vacationing in Deer Valley, Utah when Elizabeth went missing. Overnight there appeared posters on every wall and light post. I assumed that she'd run away from home and put her sister up to the wild kidnapping story. I was obviously wrong
I love true crime and I happened to look up Mormon true crime and here I am! Love this channel so far! I’ve been an inactive Mormon since 2005 and I love how she breaks down the different kinds of LDS ppl there are. This channel is truly entertaining as well as eye-opening! Keep it up! I support you!
Finally got around to listening to a full episode of this show! I havent been a big follower of true crime but damn this is fascinating... I would love to hear more talk about why he might have done what he did, it seemed kinda like the ted bundy stuff came out of nowhere, but i guess this was more focused on the influences of mormonism. Guess i have some documentaries to watch 😅
Yes my focus is definitely on the role of Mormonism, because if I did both I'd have Stephanie Harlowe length episodes of 3-5 hours to really talk about all the pieces I'd love to cover. If it turns out people would prefer that format I'd be so happy to do that instead. I always am frustrated with how much I feel I have to skip over. It's not a documentary, but American Predator by Maureen Callahan on Audible was so comprehensive and enlightening on the case itself. Highly recommend.
The Mormon embrace of Trump was the last straw for me, BUT The Bulwark just did an interview with McKay Coppins about why Utah is the least MAGA of the deep red states. Hmmm.
Watched this last week, then watched "A friend of the family", and rewatched after. I now understand what you meant when you said that Jan doesn't blame LDS. I do, though.
I still can't believe how so many people downplay the overt Mormon aspects to this case, same with the Ruby Franke/Jodie Hildebrandt case. Mormonism was the primary inspiration and motivation in both of these criminal cases.
It's absolutely maddening to me. Even in less overt cases it still has a role when someone has been programmed their whole life with so many of these teachings. But the fact people pretend it has NOTHING to do with Mormonism in cases like these is just straight up lying to themselves and the world.
You're simply pushing your Bolshevik agenda, springboarding off this loon dude. Cherry pick from the left & you'll find that the Mormon church supports open borders, digital ID, etc. your favourite Mormon congressman Harry Reid pushed the ACA which has taxpayers funding abortions. All y'all jumped from one cult into another - a political cult.
I'm always shocked/not shocked to hear my kids talk of how many radicalized Mormon extremist white supremacy views are voiced by kids in their middle schools and high schools. We're in SLC Utah.
Something not mentioned, Israel’s baby mama was Black and Indigenous, making his daughter multiracial. An interesting choice for someone with his upbringing.
Mormons believe they ARE Christian. It’s Christians who insist Mormons are not part of their club. Which is a really stupid move (and I can say so because I was born into Mormonism, 4th generation.) Why is this snobbishness toward a church with Jesus Christ in its official name so stupid? Because it further cements the Mormon persecution complex. It helps solidify the “us true church” vs “the rest of Christianity, cruel bastards” dichotomy. The best thing other Christians can do in regard to the Mormon “problem” or any other perceived “problem” is to live their own goddamn religion and mind their own business.
Oh the hair thing. Oh my. He was one scary dude. He is the one that bothers me the most, because of his intelligence and mobility. He was just everywhere. And successful bank robberies also. Just scary af that there might be more out there like him.
@Badgerlife How would the Joseph Smith papers make okay the horrors he did? Unless you're a polygamy denier which makes your "I got married at 15" flex real weird.
@@MormonTrueCrime simply asking…. If you have not read them, and No I was never a Mormon, just flat out child abuse thanks for asking about how creepy I am to you! Real sweetheart! No worries after 70 you don’t really give a crap about crappy people!
@Badgerlife "The Joseph Smith Papers" are a very specific mention for someone who claims to not be Mormon. I offered my condolences and they were met with "have you read the Joseph Smith papers". I've read segments of them but they're not my focus, and i think anyone who forces teens into marriage deserves a special place in hell if it exists.
I am a former member of the LDS church and was 12 years old when the church announced the lifting of the ban on black members. You might want to check your Joseph Smith quote. He was killed on 27 Jun 1844. Your quote is attributed to 1845.
It's amazing how many problems result from people treating others like possessions. Mitchell and his wife treated Elizabeth like an object to possess, not like a person. I hope Elizabeth is healthy and happy.
Unfortunately, there are always mean people. Ive seem some really awful comments on videos. I dont know what people get get out of doing that, but it has nothing to do with you. And they do it channels with millions of subscribers too! I love your channel!!
Ehhh-he may also have been born with a brain issue that caused him not to have empathy-commonly called Psychopathy. There is an issue in the cerebral cortex. If a child with this issue is abused, trained in violence, neglected, etc, they will often become a monster. So yes and no.😂
Just stumbled on your channel and I'm very impressed. High quality, detailed analysis, extremely well edited and your delivery is very engaging. Nice work!
It seems LD$ bypasses Common Sense! Haight Family killings, Daybell -Vallow killings. Not to mention Ruby Franke- & Jodi H. Utah alone lags way behind with the delusions of "families together forever" defined.
I’m a Canadian and saw this reported on International news. The LDS church may want to get behind tighter gun laws to help their image. A gun in the home does not make a person feel safer. In this case it killed an innocent woman. Peace be with her. I wish he could be tried and convicted of 1st degree murder posthumously.
