I have the 8099 which is the same color/ last as the 9106 Moc Toe in the copper worksmith leather, I own both. My oxfords are in need of a resole/recraft but I find they fit about the same, both super comfortable!
The length comes at 34” and you get them hemmed to whatever length you need. You just add a note to your purchase letting them know length you need them hemmed to…but I like to wear them and wash them a couple of times before hemming so I take them to Dutil Denim to get my pants hemmed.
@@prabhdeepdhahan1147 to be honest I’m not sure. If I hadn’t beat them up so much I think it could work but I never wear a suit so it’s a tough call for me. Sorry!
Really useful video. For comparison I measured my 9D 3343's (still No. 8 last) and they were 12.125" long. Not exactly sure if we measured the same way, but even so I think that could mean the 8.5EE and 9D lasts are very close in length, and 8.5EE may actually be a bit longer. Thanks for posting.
@@bootsjeansandtheoddwatch Thanks got my first one in the machine (cold) right now and have two others still unwashed... But I think I will try 30 degrees sooner or later as a little shrink would be acceptable
just got 2 pair of these for work, super guy fit. The fabric is amazingly light and hardy and while I originally got them for work, I wear them on weekends doing nothing
Interesting. I'm curious about these now. You said they're ~10 oz., but they have a tight weave. How does that affect breathability? I ask because I'm in Taiwan (not a lot of options for Western clothes here), and the weather is hot and humid in the summer. I have some Carhartt WIP Aviation pants, which are a 6.5 oz. rip-stop fabric. They're okay, but not super breathable. Otherwise, I wear Columbia nylon hiking pants, which aren't great, either, but serviceable. Thanks!
imo 5s for athletic style shorts, 7s for jorts and chinos. Anything longer only looks right on basketball or wide skate shorts, which are already an acquired taste
I am very glad I found this video as I have been struggling with sizing on Iron Rangers and the Mocs. I went to my local store and measured out to 11.7E Left Foot and 11 EE on my right foot. When trying on Iron Rangers and Mocs, I could go with the 11.5 D or 11 EE in either. IRs in D felt pretty good overall but It felt like the cap toe area was putting pressure down on my toes from above, didn't seem like enough space. EE was great in the width but my heels were loose unless I tied them snug across the top eyelets. My thought is the 11 EE is better but I would be worried they might stretch too much after the break in? In the mocs 11.5D , felt good except it was snug across the width of the boot. the ball of my foot was being crushed a bit. 11 EE width was great but it felt as though I had too much volume, especially in the smaller foot and my heels were slipping unless I tied them snug across the top eyelets. My thought is that the D width is better but I would be concerned the width wouldn't stretch enough. Any thoughts from your perspective? How do you size your mocs?
I’ve never come across a EE moc to try on but I go true to size (9 for me) in standard width and the fit is ok…not great but ok. I’d love to try on mocs in EE! For the Rangers you may have some luck going standard width and having a cobbler stretch the width in the forefoot so the heel stays locked in. Thanks for watching!
It looks like it may actually be a stormwelt, but they dont mention it on the page. It ought to make it more waterproof than the normal goodyear welt but some people may not like how far the welt sticks out from the upper.
The standard Ropers are a beast to get on and off for about 1.5-2 weeks. They loosen up, but the zip version looks to be so much easier to wear at first.
@@bootsjeansandtheoddwatch I had bruises in my fingers from pulling so hard to get them on. And I was a sweaty mess getting them off. I wish I tempered about it 30 or so days later when I filmed my review. They were pretty comfortable once on…. But a hell of a workout!
Great story! I bought one like yours for Five Dollars in kind of rough shape/ questionable whether it would ever work right! about a year ago,Then sold it off. Then I got interested in the new Timex Shocks? oh well! The shocks look an awfull lot like the original!
I have been bouncing between 7" and 9". It really depends on the style of the short. I don't wear shorts to work, so I rock them with my flip flops as much as possible. If we are going out or to a park, I'll toss on my Luca Terra Runners, a pair of Chucks or some Vans.
I had a pair of 2030 a full size down and they were too small for me. 1/2 down on 2030 works best for me but I know some that go full size down. 1/2 down on 2030 leaves a tiny bit of room in front of the toes but I found the bend/breaking point of the boot lines up best and is most comfortable at 1/2 down
