Thank you for the information. Gave me a great sense to be comfortable to get TURP surgery done. I am 4 weeks post-surgery, and the relief is fantastic. One question is about the dry ejaculation. Is this a permanent change? Thanks again.
i removet by surgery a year ago i know i still have a little pain in Épididyme is this normal and it fell like the Épididyme is a littke Solid and has arteries
This was not true at all for me. It really must depend on the person. My doctor said some people are okay with it and others have a lot of pain. I have had mine in for 8 days and I am still in extreme pain.
But nothing is said of RETROGRADE EJACULATION which is usually a side effect of TURP procedure. It's OK if you're 77 years old but I feel bad for 50 year olds who are still young enough to possibly impregnate their partner but that won't be possible after TURP. Ejaculatory dysfunction is common after TURP, why isn't this brought out -
I had the Turp op almost 3months ago and they kept me overnight flushing me out. Went home following day and back again week later to.have catheter removed . Still couldn't pee but the let .me go anyway .was back in A and E that evening in pains and still couldn't pee. Done this same procedure 3 times and still couldn't pee. A day after the last hospital visit i was working in garden doing all small job and when i came inside was peeing blood from catheter(i didnt have bag catheter as wear shorts in summer, mine had a little tap at the end) Anyway, an hour later the catheter was blocked solid so couldn't pee. My wife was by now confidence enough to remove the catheter and she brought me a plastic jug and said try peeing in this. I peed and we couldn't believe the amount of old tissue that came out, about 5 pieces the biggest about 3" Long and half inch wide.WE WERE SHOCKED. Anyway, i started to pee slowly at first and now about 5 weeks later i am peeing much better, no nappys and no dribbling etc. We are at least grateful that i can pee again after nearly a year with catheter while waiting for an op. After Turp i realised i couldn't ejaculate but still could get an erection and you still get thrill with sex, but not as brilliant as b4. I'm 75 but look very young and have all my own hair. CONCLUSION,..Yes, i would have it done again as a trade off of not being able to pee. Dont be scared of having the surgery as they knock you out so you don't really feel the pain. The healing process takes longer than they claim i still feel a little soreness from the scaring of.having a catheter for almost a year, but its getting a little better each week. Hope this my help someone who is on the fence and undecided .Good luck 🇬🇧
The hell it doesn’t hurt! The first one I had out was severely painful. The second was more bearable. I’m getting one removed on Monday and somewhat dread the removal. I’ve seen videos where people say cystoscopes are painless. Don’t believe that for a minute!
I had mine done on Friday, its now Tuesday night and my balls are swelled up the size of eggs, my entire sack is black and blue, constant mild to moderate pain. Still worth it. I have 3 kids. 28, 24 and 3 years old. Gonna go ice now...
For every 10 TURPS you do, and removal of the catheter, how many patients require additional follow up surgeries? If it's 1 out of every 10, then I'm in that 10% category. It has been 5 days of my second surgery, I had my catheter removed today. Keeping my fingers crossed for a great outcome this time. Hopefully, docs manage expectations.
Would you do this procedure for Chronic Prostatitis? I'm 39 years old and have suffered for over 3 years. Constant urge to urinate, pain in the prostate, many other symptoms. I've tried everything besides surgery.
I had it done 5 years ago I still experience pain and discomfort I haven't been able to ejaculate since and I have mild to severe nerve pain on my right testicle and most of the time I have the pain start around my pelvic groin area all the way to my testicle just the right side now I have to receive nerve block injection every 1-2 months.
My name is Rafael I had this procedure done and it's been 2 and a half months but I'm constantly having to go to the bathroom and only drips at times and none at other times and unable to stop the stream at times and urinating on myself
I had the LIFT procedure. The procedure takes 20 to 40 minutes. No catheter, and no time recovery. Once you live the doctors office. Your way if life is normal, as when you were 30.. I had this proceduredone over a year ago. My two friends had had the same procedure 4 years ago and no problems. But I know that sometimes you may need other procedures, turp, laser which takes about one hour. Remember, every doctor know only one procedure, and they don't tell you that are better procedure around. I know that once you get turp or laser done, and the time recovery has passed. You are good for life
I'm 41 and in the 5th week post-op and it's painful when I stand or walk and also when I sit down. When I lay down I have no pain and it's no infection. I have problems to go to work. Is this normal, do I have to wait to week 8? Will it get better soon? And at work I sometimes have stress-incontinence. I don't know what to do, my urogolist told me to wait 6 weeks and we will see. But in week 5 I still have pain in the prostate and it goes down to the penis. Can you give me some information please? What is this pain, is it normal?
I'm at that point now, 71 years old. Urologist told me it's either medication the rest of my life to deal with the prostate or TURP. You've settled my mind concerning this procedure, Thank you.
Thank you for the video. On June 17 the doctor will do a balloon dilation of urethral stricture with Optilume drug-coated balloon to dilate the urethral stricture and make sure that it is open for the T.U.R.P. surgery. The doctor has to make sure the opening in the urethra is wide enough to get the T.U.R.P. tool inside. Then the T.U.R.P. surgery on June 28. I have had some form of catheter for 7 months.
6/12/2024 Dr. Lin, please try to contact the staff of Melinda French Gates to see if you might qualify to get paid for doing (sliding scale or free) vasectomies to help out with the current crises. A few days ago on radio news, it was announced that MFG started a 1 Billion Fund for Women, to improve the lives of women. This could help millions of women, after their partner gets a vasectomy. Best Wishes to All
My GP Dr. referred me to a Urologist over a decade ago. I was around 52. The urologist saw me annually since that time. I am now 64. He did reccomend TURP quite a few years ago and we did talk about permenant damage if I didn't do anything about it. First was drugs and then we opted for UROLIFT 3 years ago. He did say he'd rather perform the golden standard TURP, but we used the UL instead. It failed. 7 days ago he performed the TURP. The suffering is minor. I call it uncomfortable inconvenience. I am so glad that my GP reccomended him in the first place. I'm looking forward to getting through the rehab period and getting my life back.
Having this done in Flagstaff next week. Dr tells me I will have a catheter for 3 days. He tells me probably overnight hospital stay. I wish I was in Chandler to see Dr Lin.
Mujhe kidney stone tha 12mm kahi dino tak maine ilaj kiya kuch fyda nhi mila liya usee bhi koi fyda nhi mila akhir me maine khadnol+Livcon capsule & syrup choose kiya aur tabhi Amazon se order krke lena chalu kiya 3 mahine liya stone ki problem khatam ho gayi aur dard bhi aram kahi dino me!;
I had TURP a week ago today. So far it has been 'perfect', flushing with solution after op, catheter removed the morning after the op, home that afternoon and bladder control good, some urgency, much better flow, and emptying, yippee. Only issue is bleeding, a small amount of blood at the start of every time I pee, accompanied by a small amount of stinging, this is apparently normal, for a few weeks. The discomfort soon passes......a minute or so.
The knowing where all the bathrooms are is both hilarious and so true. I will even choose a destination based on the location of the toilets. I have had my problem for 10 years, since I was 53. I have had two bladder stones, the first ten years ago. Which was removed, part of the process I had awful bladder spasms (catheter). Even after this I still had issues regards urgency, UTIs and nocturia (4-5 times a night). I lived with it for n years, until the last bladder stone, thought I had another about two years ago. Went to docs, after months of waiting was scanned (NHS), another few months and then saw consultant (NHS). Consultant rec. TURP and Lithoscopic removal of Stone. Again waited three months, by that point I went Private (UK, £6k), got the stone removed, relief......(and no catheter issues, more relief). Waited another 6 months (NHS) to get the TURP done (which will resolve the cause, finger crossed). It was done last Thursday (one week ago). For the first time I can pee without squeezing n times, and still not emptying. It's like a fire hose now...... ;-) Just have to retrain bladder, and get over the TURP OP itself (still some bleeding and urgency), but it already feels like it is going to be life changing. You guys do great work, urologists are now my favourite physicians.
I have had catheters four times, on the second time I had bladder spasms, that were pretty much left untreated for an overnight period. 12 hours of absolute agony. For the other three times, no issues. Now I know about the drugs they can use to help with the spasms.
Thank you for this. I had my TURP done 7 weeks ago and wish I had seen this before. My recovery is still in progress. Unfortunately I didn’t have the kind of pre-procedure consultation this video provides. I was not prepared. All I got was “oh it’s great”, “nothing to worry about” , “quick procedure” etc. 4 to 6 weeks recovery they said. Well I’m here to tell you it’s been 7 weeks and it’s slow going. Flow is good immediately, but, for now, urgency is worse, frequency is no better (worse at night), spasms are uncomfortable after peeing, and dribbling after also bothersome. I’m trying to be patient and have a follow up mid July so we’ll see how it is by then. Your video gives me hope. One thing I will say is the discussion around retrograde ejaculation is downplayed too much. Sure I’m 64 and the only babies I want are grandkids (had a vasectomy 30 years ago anyway). It’s dismissed as no big deal. I say that’s subjective. Unless you’ve experienced it you don’t know. It’s different and I don’t like it. Again, I’ll be patient and I’m sure I’ll get used to it, but I wasn’t prepared for it. So great video. Guys, if you’re getting it done, just be prepared. In the long run I’m sure it will be worth it, but be prepared and patient.
I'm in 5th week post op, no bleeding but burning when I pee like the hell. And it's also very uncomfortable and painful when I'm standing or trying to sit down. I feel the pain in the prostate and it goes down the penis. Only when I lay down I don't have any pain. They tested me I have no infection. Can you give me some information please, did you have the same. They told me after 4 to 6 weeks I'll be fine. I don't think, it will take more time. And the retrograde Ejakulation is also normal, 100%. But I can deal with it. I really worry about the pain when I stay or walk at work.
@@Loewenherz6183 sorry to hear you’re having pain issues. I had none. It was relatively pain free, just some discomfort during urination for a while. There’s still spamming and “aftershocks” at the end of urination causing dribbling so I have to be careful and make sure it’s over so to speak. The urgency is also still there which is also bothersome. I think the pain is unusual so keep an eye on it. Good luck.
@@Trguy60 Thank you, it's very uncomfortable when I stay and walk. In the morning no pain, very nice, but after a few hours of work I feel very uncomfortable. In the afternoon I lose more urin than in the morning, at night nothing. It feels like sore muscles. I hope in a few weeks it will be better. Maybe I need a month more time.
Trguy60, that's exactly as you describe it!! I made the Turis surgery, today is the 5day since catheter was removed. I still pee 3- 4cm while doctor had said for rivers of urine!!!😁 The weird is when the signal to pee comes, i pee only 2-3 fingers most, in the glass. So i can check everything! I wear pad like women does cause i leaking!! Doc says it's normal.. To be patient! Ok.. Still take my medicines for 2 weeks. No pain,no blood, but not miracles! As for ejaculation there are some nerves in the area which get damaged by bipolar electrode and thats why the muscle who controls sperm movement, doesn't work well anymore! *God is the only One real Artist who makes this complicated body, a miracle.. Be patient! You may need from 2 months to 16 months for complete normal action!! Another very disturbing thing is the night "sleep" : I pee every half an hour!!! And when I try to walk from toilet to bed, pee starts again!!😁 We're getting old, mate!
No Foley after the surgery? That's great! I was basically bullied, the day after my surgery, into wearing a foley for a week. The reason? I was able to pee, but it wasn't deemed good enough. I had been using intermittent catheters for six months prior to my surgery. I fully expected to not pee perfectly on the first day. What therapeutic value could be gained from wearing a Foley catheter for a week after TURP surgery?
