Thanks Dr lin, awaiting turps procedure,so much I have learned from your excellent video's on the subject...it's not just the experience of the urologists in procedure but how to put this over in a calm empathetic manner to patients, which you do. My urologists in the UK would do well to learn from your informed input to caring for the patient and understanding these anxiety in finding suitable treatment for luts.

I wanted to add a final thanks and shout-out to Dr. Lin who was instrumental in showing through his positive patient-videos, the wonderful life-changing results from TURP procedures. I'm now on Day 11 since having mine here in Southern California. My doctor just informed me how well surgery went, with my blocking media-lobe removed and "sides shaved down," leaving me with about half my original prostate gland. Already I'm functioning much better, with no more need for 4X/day self-catheter and hopefully no more future bladder infections that were causing me life-threatening issues. Maybe the unfortunate "roto-rooter" term needs to change for the TURP method, as it sounds so invasive! Any suggestions? I have had ZERO pain during this recovery, and ZERO sexual side-effects also. I want all older guys to know they are settling for more than just "inconvenience" by ignoring their BPH, and that they also need to ignore negative internet-chatter and instead find actual research stats on TURP surgery.

Hello Dr Lin, I am home from work this week recovering from TURP that I had done Friday 12/8. You probably don't remember, but I commented several months ago about my Dr prescribing Cialis for my BPH because I was too chicken to have the TURP that he had been recommending for months. The Cialis did provide some relief that I never got from the Flomax. You told me then that it was just a band-aid. You were right. I wish I would have done the TURP 2 years ago when my urologist first mentioned it. It wasn't till I started watching some of your videos that I warmed up to the idea. Today, 5 days after the procedure, there is hardly any blood in my urine now, just occasionally tinted. I feel like I could go back to work now but I'll be off a few more days. I realize that I'm still pretty fragile in there. I am shocked that there is no pain. I just have some burning when I pee. It takes me about 7 seconds to empty my bladder now where before it took 7 minutes to partially empty. The most pain that I have is from night time erections and that is only minor and brief. I am just glad it still works! Dr said the soreness will go away. I'll be 61 tomorrow 12/14 and I'm hoping this will last me for a long time. If I could say one thing to someone reluctant to have this done it would be "don't put it off like I did". Thanks Dr Lin for your very informative videos.

Oh wow this really hits me close to home. When my urologist first told me I could try the usual meds although he recommended his TURP procedure for me because I had the median-lobe issue, I wanted to avoid surgery at all costs. Looking back, I would have saved myself four months of daily self-catheters and constant bladder infections literally threatening my one kidney and life in general, if I had only signed up for surgery right away! Now three days away.

Hello Dr Lin, I am 11 days post TURP. My urine had been, for the most part, clear of much blood. However, the last couple days I am noticing a little more blood than what had been, especially when I first start the stream. Is this something to be concerned about? I have been taking it easy for the most part.

Dr. Lin, TURP surgery was about 11/2 weeks ago and now having to self cath. Cannot completely empty bladder although can urinate. Having blood in urine whereas at first when sent home with catheter there was no blood at all. Will all of this get better?
