And still today... I sit and remember the Pictures I've esen on Tv that Day... I sat in Tears with my mom in front of a fucking Tv for hours. Well, my mom is up there with you now. Bet she loves to hear all their storys. <3
To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.”
Teppei really puts his heart behind that "Come all you weary" line.. Haven't I heard that story somewhere before? :) Such an insightful and introspective band, not to mention incredibly talented. God bless them. And may they continue to rock!
I really wonder if he took some lessons or his voice just matured beautifully. I remember during their earlier years, he wasn't that good when it came to singing
Just a heads up; just because band members are Christian does not make them a Christian band. These songs (from the Earth portion of The Alchemy Index) speak of the relationship between mankind and the earth. Child of Dust is in the point of view of the earth, about how humanity has destroyed so much of the earth, yet when they die they become part of the earth once more.
Lmfao? Have you listened to any of the lyrics in Vheissu or Beggars? Care to explain these away too? I wonder if that name Thrice has something to do with the trinity? We Christians are everywhere my friend.
Why are atheists so easily offended? Thrice believes in God and makes references to Christian scriptures throughout several of their albums..so what? Can't you just enjoy it as the great music it is? If you want some atheist nonsense, go listen to anything that's on MTV these days. This is probably too deep and insightful for you. Grow up snowflakes.
Is it so important to label music. Is it so important to give music a name-tag. I think the only reason music should be name-tagged is to make it easier to reference, instead of everyone saying "that song" or "that band". Stop trying to label music beyond a point of reference. Please. You are not helping anyone. Listen to music. You don't need to call Thrice a label like "Christian band" or "Alternative band with Christian themes". Thrice is FINE being just Thrice. Thrice can easily be referenced by the name "Thrice" when you wish you speak about them. You don't need to reference Thrice as "that christian band" or "that alternative band with Christian themes". Perhaps you seek to label things because you can not accept them for what they are. Perhaps this stems from your own view of yourself. Do you seek to label yourself? Do you not accept yourself as you truly are?
Well said, This isn't meant to be a slight to people who buy Christian Rock, but I think it is a good question for debate. (I Feel) That if a mediocre band labels itself "Christian Rock" and signs with a Christian Rock label, they will immediately get followers - not based on quality of music, but based on quality of worship. Some people may call this 'sheep like behavior' but I disagree. Now if you take a band that has GREAT talent, and they sign with a 'normal' religion-neutral label, and they become big - I think that says more.
maybe an unpopular opinon but if Thrice labelled themselves through christianity.. i may not have 'found them'.. and now i am one of the thousands die hards that exist for anything Thrice, with passion.
If anyone has any doubts about this song, read the liner notes on the album. Dustin cites a book "The 9/11 Commission Report: Omissions And Distortions" as something that opened his eyes to the events of the day in an interview as well.
I believe Dustin is the Christian among them... but a lot of their songs are based on Christian values, and stories/passages from the bible. Christianity is obviously one of Dustin's greatest inspirations.
I'm a christian but man seriously who the fuck cares?! Why do you say it?! For what?! What does it matter?! Last year I have met with Dustin after the London gig and we have agreed on the fact the christian music sucks... Thrice is not a christian band so fuck off man!
"And because truth is truth no matter what religions you find it in..." not trying pushing you to one side or the other but: yes, you can find many of the same principles in different religions, but ultimately every religion has their own way of achieving salvation as im sure u already know. Example Jesus: “I am the way, the truth, the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" - he didn't say I am the way the truth and life, but you can find the father however you so please u know?
