Love these socks, and love the video! I'm currently on my third pair of knitted socks and I'm obsessed! I've just bought the colourwork cuff club!! So excited! I love the idea of the base colour being the eyes and mouth of the ghosties too
Beautifully knit socks! You were smart to restart as soon you weren’t happy with the yarn was doing. I am doing this club too and the ghosts are my first colorwork sock. I wish I had thought to either use duplicate stitch or use the base color for the eyes as I really didn’t enjoy having 3 yarns going… I will keep that in mind for future pairs. FYI - I find Summer’s heel flap to be shorter than I’m used to as well and will adjust that in my next colorwork cuff pair.
Great podcast. I have never used the different skeins for knitting in helping with pooling.I t was great to see the before and after as there was such a difference. Fab yarn also. I thought the ghosts were great using the same yarn for the eyes & mouth more subtle. Thanks for all your breakdown of your process. Have a great knitting week.
We actually have so much in common. I’m from Melbourne, I knit and sew, I work for a hospital (as a clinical coder) and my husband is in the defence force. I’m a bit older and have two kids but still! Wild! Those little ghost socks are gonna be the cutest thing ever! Thanks for sharing, I love watching your videos 😊
oh wow! what does the clinical coder role involve?? that sounds so intriguing! whereabouts in melbourne are you? send me a message on instagram (if you have it) and maybe we can meet up!
Love that green on you like seafoam. Also random but I love your freckles I think I’d only seen your podcast with full face and while I of course love a good beat. I just thought I’d share that you look vv pretty bare faced as well. I don’t know what your feelings are but I just thought I’d share that in case you didn’t know or think so 😊
thank you so much this is so so kind :) it definitely has taken a while to love my freckles but they are one of my favourite features now :) thank you for watching!
Girl you are more than welcome to borrow my ideas 😂❤ those ghosties are giving such autumn vibes! Hope your moth issues have been resolved, what bad luck! Love your vlogs as always! ❤
If youre able to I would love to see a video of how you are going to make your scrub tops! Im in the health field also and cant find any appealing scrubs tops so making my own sounds very interesting <3
really?? I feel like I am a veeeery beginner sewer so it wouldn't be any kind of fancy tutorial but I could definitely include it in a video! I agree it can be so hard to find flattering, comfortable and appealing scrubs!
I enjoyed your week. While I'm no pest expert and will accept other ideas, I think you'll have the surest results if you freeze, thaw, and refreeze before using the suspect yarn. The initial thaw can be the trigger to set the eggs hatching and munching.
yes I wasn't very accurate and precise when tracing and cutting out my fabric so the irregularities and mismatched edges are definitely caused by that!
Your vlogs just make me want to stop everything and just knit. Love the colors of your 1031 Sweater. 🧶I'm so sorry about the moth! I really like your BB-8 mug. Great job on your scrub top.
thank you so much as always! star wars is a big deal in our house so my boyfriend got us the mugs and they are just the coolest! I'm glad I could inspire you to sit and knit!
I knoooooww ahaha I've already noticed with increased wear it's dropping lower but too many wips on the needles right now haha maybe one day I'll change it...
not me actually getting emotional watching you laugh during our cast on party 😭😭💗 knitting this project together captured SO many special memories in every stitch 🥲🌷 love you so much hayley bug!!🪻
the chilly dog has some great videos on picking up stitches at the underarms to reduce holes, so check her out. Your Cumulus turned out fantastic! The yarn looks beautiful and soft, and the colour is gorgeous! My Cumulus is sitting waiting to be frogged because it's way too big, but seeing yours gives me the motivation to get started on that so I can knit it again! The biggest lesson I have learned is that it really does pay to wash and block once you separate for sleeves...much less to rip back then if you need to!!
I never really block my projects mid knit when I really should ahaha I would just rather keep knitting on it! but definitely would save a lot of pain in ripping back later you're right. thank you for watching! :)
Definitely want to make this blouse in time for spring next year - yours looks so good! With regards to the holes at the underarms in raglan jumpers; I am about to finish the Novice sweater by PetiteKnit and the video 'Weaving in ends in a sweater' by Elizabeth Smith Knits was pretty helpful! Basically, using the end that you need to weave in, you can 'trace' the shapes of the stitches that you want to tighten and this can really tighten up the stitches! You can also tug on the loose stitch and then the stitches that are connected to that and redistribute the extra yarn. Hope that makes sense haha
I'll have to check out that video! I usually sew up the holes using my ends but sometimes it still doesn't look quite right but I'll see if that video has any other tips! thank you for watching :)
I want to knit the Cumulus Blouse also. It's so nice to have knitting friends! 💜 I love ordering from Wool Warehouse. 🧶 Great job on your sweater. 👏🏾 Love the drape.
Hi Hayley! I was thinking of something you could do with the left over yarn from your colorwork sweater and was thinking about adding a motif or two to the sleeves like the Salty Days Sweater. Also you could use one of the colors for the neck and ribbing? Just an idea :)
that's a cute idea! I'm not sure if the yarns will work well together as the cotton yarn is a lot thinner but I will keep it in mind! thank you for watching :)
So many WiPs!!! I am such a monogamous knitter which is so boring!! More than two projects on the go really increases my anxiety!! But I also suffer terrible FOMO so swings and roundabouts I guess 👀. Great ep!
I definitely go through phases where I have heaps of wips and then sometimes I only have one or two that I'm really dedicated to! definitely do what works for you but I get major fomo too so often find myself casting everything on ahaha
I also wanted to say that I love that you often use accessible yarns that are not too expensive, and after I saw your Bookclub Cardigan with the Shadow marle (I know you've decided its not quite right for that pattern though) I got some in pink from Lincraft here in NZ and have started a plain stocking stitch cardigan from an old print Patons pattern and I actually really like that yarn. It does shine with the plain stitch pattern I think :)
that's so lovely to hear! I feel like there's a lot of pressure sometimes to knit with more fancy yarns but craft store yarns can be just as beautiful - and not so damaging for my wallet haha I love that you're using the pink shadow marle yarn! it's a beautiful colourway and I'm sure it's going to look lovely
Please never stop with the F1 segment 😅🤭 Also, my fav yarns I've used for colourwork socks are Drops Nord and Opal Uni 4ply! I've used both for Stone Knits and they're great
ahahaha thank you! I love yapping about F1 to anyone who will listen so I shall continue haha thank you for the sock yarn suggestions! I will order some along with my cascade heritage :))
Hi Hayley, love your channel. Im just working my way through your pods. Two more brilliant Aussie podcasts for you are. "purlfect Pairings" and" Two Purls in a pod"! Love all your knits and yes, I think one really needs Wool with "bones" in it to activate the beauty of the Salty days sweater. I must say I really enjoy Kutovakika's patterns, especially the ones that have tutorials. I've just finished my third "Darling Cardigan" of hers. Ah, yes and another gorgeous wool shop in Melbourne is "Little Woolie Makes". It's in Hastings on the mornington Peninsula, it has an online store but the shop is crammed with all manner of beautiful wools...Im salivating at the thought! I've been buying a lot of wool from Wool warehouse, its so so good, I can't believe how quick the wool arrives!
I'm so glad you enjoyed the episode! I have heard of both of these podcasts but still haven't got around to watching them yet! I do agree a nice wooly yarn would've been the better choice for the salty days but alas we live and we learn haha I've been meaning to go to Little Woolie as well! everyone is always saying such amazing things about it!
if I am the cable queen, you are the cast on queen HEHE. I am so honored!! this is such a cozy episode with soooo many gorgeous FOs & WIPs! you look so gorg in your cumulus blouse!! I'm obsessed with your modified moby (designer hayleys space era!?! hehe) & your maxine is JAW dropping. I am so stoked to join you in knitting the cami no11 for our next buddy knit 🥰
here's the link to the cumulus pattern! ravel.me/cumulus-blouse I definitely recommend giving cabling without a cable needle a go! It's so worth it! :)
What a great podcast!! Love that you knitted the salty days sweater with the intention of wearing it in the summer time. It’s such a great summer sweater option, thanks for sharing 💗
The guys in my office follow the F1 and always smirk when I talk about my knitting so I absolutely LOVE that I can now get updates on the happenings of F1 from a knitting podcast! 😂 Looking forward to it in your next episode!
