My headcanon is that Beerus got really weak because of the 40 year nap. And he's slowly regaining the strenght lost day by day. thats why he sometimes seems weaker when in reality he's not.
Granolah has insane potential as someone who can be competitive with goku and vegeta, but is not a saiyan or a villain, but looks human/saiyan. Hope they use him more in the future and not just as fodder for the next villain. kinda reminds me of Tapion
My head canon is that since beerus has been asleep for so long he was a little rusty but after being awake and training he managed to regain his insane godly power, with some slight motivation from goku
This Super saga or as I call it the "Gods" saga fucking sucks. I don't care what y'all think. The writing is garbage. Just let this franchise die please. I'm saying this as a massive DB fan. These characters were already Gods by the Majin Buu saga. Why continue this story with more bullshit writing akin to the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy. It makes me sick.
17:18 The T.O.P occurs almost immediately after the Future Trunks Saga. It consists of the 24 hours of preparation for the tournament, the few days/weeks of waiting time, etc. Plus, the Broly movie occurs right after the T.O.P. and it takes place over less than a day. Therefore, Gogeta Blue wasn't that much later than Vegito Blue-indicating the Gogeta is still the GOAT. Also, canonically, we should see Goku's body getting stolen by Zamasu since the Goku in Goku black is one year ahead(if Toei remembers to add that in).
Honestly I think Cell could potentially beat Buu as long as he’s not fighting kid Buu. Cell has the combined genes of Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, King Cold, and Frieza which gives him the increased strength from each battle, Piccolo’s regeneration and tactics and Frieza’s potential. As long as Cell isn’t absorbed by Buu he could win
I think there are some assumptions being made at 5:35, Beerus and the other destoyers can be Astonished by Goku, a mortal achieving Ultra instinct and mastering it within a very short time frame, while the gods themselves have failed to acquire such a technique after Eons of training. This makes more sense in context, scenes before Belmont was confident Goku although had ultra instinct, it would be impossible for him to master. I believe the constant shattering of the Gods expectation of goku's progress is what earned the destroyers respect. Not him just out scaling all the gods. A mortal who achieved a state even the gods struggle to obtain vs the mortal who surpassed the god of destruction.
Beerus respects goku because ultra instinct is a technique thats incredibly hard to master. Its not about power levels anymore like in dbz its about techniques and applications. Theyre adding depth bro. Beerus would still destroy goku and vegeta.
OR MAYBE BEERUS JUST GOT STRONGER COZ IT MAKES NO SENSE FOR HIM TO NOT GET STRONGER U SAFTEY STRONG CHARACTERS OR SAFTEY NET CHARACTERS THAT CAN SAVE EVERY1 BECAUSE THEN BEERUS WOULD BECOME A NON FACTOR AND NOT STRONG
17:48 i think that all this isnt quite true and we should just get away with "gods of destruction are never fighting seriously or showing their true power yet" thats why the ceiling is ever growing🤷♂️
The reason Beerus has his moments of shock with goku and the saiyans is because he is probably shocked/impressed with how fast saiyans gain power. Not because hes afraid because he thinks they are stronger than him. Remember he's been alive for hundreds or thousands of years.
I think the problem here is that you're forgetting that this is Dragon Ball, it's all about power ups techniques and forms. Beerus is always in base form and has only ever did a meaningful charge up a few times since being introduced. And has never even mentioned a transformation. Remember that Friezas base form was the ceiling at one point too only to find out he was actually ridiculously more powerful than anybody else besides Beerus and Buu at the time.
All we know is that Freiza will kill Beerus for the newest arc, Knowing that Broly and or Gohan will have to surpass Freiza for the final battle of the series... So we can assume his strength from there
Beerus being stronger than the saiyans makes perfect sense from a writing standpoint. I mean it just feels off for a 42 year old mortal to surpass a deity who has had millions of years worth of training.
I understood it as Beerus not being at full power because he needs to eat and sleep a ton. So throughout the show he's becoming 'stronger because he's really getting closer to full power. So he had to use 70% against of his available power at the moment, not 70% of his total power. Also Beerus, Whis, and even Zeno have been shown not to be all knowing beings so he could have just got it wrong lol
One could make sense of the god scale if its nonlinear. If its like the Richter acale then Beerus would be 10000 times stronger. Which would make sense.
Honestly Im fine with Beerus being still stronger than everyone else. It is pretty laughable that these changes werent default from the start, but it always gave me a sour taste that a couple of characters that havent even been alive for 100 years, are approaching the power of a being thats been alive for MILLIONS of years. Pretty ridiculous.
Well I think he just lied and acted like to be weak cuz if he would have shown his real power he probably have killed Goku and I think he saw potential in him so he tested goku and pushed him to the point where he is now. We always think okay is Goku stronger now? And maybe Goku beliefs it as well so that could be a motivation for him. But if beerus would tell him his real power…then idk maybe the gap is just too huge
My head canon is that he ultimately has ultra ego and has been training with whis in the background at least a little. But like he says in the Granola arc, his mind is always on destruction so his strength has no limit. That's the true strength of the GoDs; not that they have some high number but that they have infinite potential to reach into. That's why they cannot fight one another. DBZ taught us that relying on power levels is really stupid because a person can hide their power or even only access it through different means. That was Toriyama telling us these numbers are stupid and yet the fan base continues to judge everything based on these supposed rankings when strength in DB simply isn't quantifiable.
I still think goku was weaker than the destroyers when he achieved mastered UI. The gods just stood in acknowledgment as none of them had mastered it so they respected goku in that moment
This is a fantastic analysis! But I think it's incomplete, still. I think you're right on the mark to analyze JJK from an existentialist perspective, but I think that there's still a glitch in the conclusions that you drew. Please don't take that too harshly, I just have something that bothers me when Yuji's cog mentality is praised. I have the benefit of having read the rest of the manga, which I'm not sure if you have, so I'm going to try to only refer to things that happen during or prior to the Shibuya Incident. However, I think I can still make my point all the same. In terms of your philosophical analysis, you're spot on! But I think this is also missing some character analysis and political analysis. There is not a Shonen manga more political than JJK, and I think GeGe is as critical of the Japanese government and Japanese culture as a Shonen author can be. The way Nanami criticizes work culture and the way Junpei's story arc criticizes school culture, as well as the conservative leanings of the upper echelons of jujutsu sorcerer society are not just GeGe's invention. They're very salient, condemning criticisms of Japan's cult of work that expects people to sacrifice their happiness and health to the capitalist death machine, of schools that ignore or tacitly encourage bullying in order to enforce conformity, and of how Japan's largely open-minded, cosmopolitan population is ruled over by draconian, backwards oldhead conservatives who are living in a fictitious past that motivates them to make cruel, ignorant decisions. So that's where I believe the stickiness of the story's themes really intensifies. I think Yuji's "cog in the machine" speech is not a triumph, it's a tragedy. Because you say that he resolves his worldview to that of the Passionate Human, but I don't think he does. I think he's still stuck on the Subhuman or Serious Human personality, but has contrived a way to keep going. I think the cog mentality is one that saved Yuji from suicide, but I think it's one he'll ultimately need to outgrow by the end of the series. Because his mentality of "serving a function" plays right into the hands of the conservative ideologies the series has spent so long criticizing, where people are subjugated to a nebulous "greater good" and used up as raw materials to keep the system going for the benefit of a small handful of elite leaders at the top, and at the expense of everyone else. More than that, I think this mentality is a philosophical dead end. It's not a reason to live, it's a reason to delay dying. Yuji still has not resolved his guilt over the actions Sukuna performed while in control of his body, nor has he overcome the trauma of Nanami and Nobara dying. This mentality isn't a solution, it's a stopgap: Yuji has basically said, "I still believe I deserve to die, but I will finish the job first. I will atone by suffering until the job is complete." And that is the fly in the ointment. What is a life only spent delaying death? How can a person survive when they believe death is the only thing they're allotted in life? I think the great problem that Jujutsu Kaisen's story is working on a solution for is, "How can you love something and find something worth fighting for when you know you're going to die?" Yuji hasn't found his answer yet. And like Todo said, it's fine to need more time. However, I think that Yuji's last, great test will be to find his own answer. And I don't believe the cog mentality is the answer.
25:40 I'd say you're right because that's how it is i say especially since goku ended up beating moro after berus erazed him with vegeata spirt phison anyway and berus is abilty erasing anything that includes anyone even erazure imuinty though arale a casulity and her emtire cast are just going to appear again berus did still eraze a version of said character without peguin village dr slump hacks berus is even able to eraze the grand priest zenp anyone so maby ypu git it wrong but you also gpt it right either way episode 69 of dragon ball super proves berus erazure has no way to stop it he killed one of the dr mashietoa but not the other ones out side the nartive pr anything
Dr masirto is the reason if berus can hakai anyone permantly erazing them then that means berus is stronger than sailor moon became a casulitu means when beeus erazed dr mascrito he erazed a version of him though theres still mamy just as every character arale would of actually just took the frame of berus and destroyed him so would dr mascrito because that's the scale of berus can beat that he's stronger than everything even amglels so in short either beeus is secretly stronger than all the angels or episode 69 is how i said he simply hakaid a version of the dead xr mashirto he akways revies hell be right back ecect in his new body with a wepon to kill berus if arale and dr mashroto ever appear again
Mind you this would be a low ball considering that there are a lot of statements that imply galaxy to universe level AP and durability for Beyblade. Obviously high balling but they exist and have substance nonetheless
something that a lot of people miss: if you look in the crater that omega makes before the spirit bomb is shown, you can see gokus clothes in the bottom. but he is also holding the spirit bomb.
Honestly hears how i see it: Super Saiyan god Broly Ultra instinct Ultra ego Black freezia Supreme kia Buu Gods of destruction Angels Zeno's body guards The omni king (zero)
My headcannon is that bcuz he doesnt have any strong opponent to fight and he was asleep for 35 years so his power just drop by lack of fighting just like gohan
But... it's very heavily implied that Beerus is getting his ass back in shape Like how Gohan trained for a few hours amd got back to his full potential of Insainly strong Berus trains a few years (plus the time staff adding probably another few years based on everything and how much free time he has) Just keeping himself a bit stronger since he is the strongest GoD he was probably even stronger at his peak Imagine being Black Freiza level before getting lazy for.... at least a few thousand years sleeping and possibly barely eating anything Also Movies are a diffrent timeline in a diffrent universe after all ALL OF THEM that would also explain it But that's mostly headcanon
