Another point I would like to mention is that the arbalesters are not defence 6 in close combat. The rule says the shield gives +3 def. if the model ist not in combat. A combat consists of duelling, backing away and making strikes. After all of that has been done the combat is over. The rule even says that the model does not get +1 defence bonus for carrying a shield because it is also carrying a crossbow.
Great review! Video idea would be some list building live to give thought process with actual examples. Maybe start with a theme or character and each of you build out a list and collaborate while doing it. That way there’s multiple army ideas being thrown out for different factions.
Sometimes the FAQ gives just stupid answers that make no sense. They say you are allowed to let the courage test on reavers fail while you are in 6 inches of the bo'sun, but the special rule states that you only ever take that test if you are outside of 6 inches of the bo'sun... So I still think you would have to retract the bo'sun from your reavers to activate the special rule. Everything else makes no sense, because it would make the bo'suns position totally irrelevant to that special rule.
Yeah there are some things that the FAQ changes that can be weird but that being said it overrides the core written rules where applicable. The FAQ seems to make it pretty clear that the intention of the rule is to be able to activate it even when within 6 inches of a bo sun. Otherwise the faq would say that you are unable to do so. @@thedicebearers5989 Yeah you're right. The answer is pretty clear, the fault ist more in the question. But because I play corsairs, I will take that big bonus without complaining. ;) This makes the reavers even more appealing.
i know im late to the party but the book says you MUST take the test outside of bosun range. it does not say you only take it there. the faq clarifies this by saying you MAY take the test within bosun range. in range its a choice, outside its mandatory. and the reaver can always choose to fail. because other wise either the bosun banner or reavers rule are pretty useless.
Delgamar is your extra reroll incase the banner roll fails. Reaver backed by a Spear, +banner, +Delgamar =5 dice on a duel roll. Plus, he's your heroic move battery. I personally think he's an auto include but maybe he hasn't worked out for you.
