Well Ben. I just found you as an apprentice electrician and now see you're out. I'm age 21 and have been in construction for 2 years and actually like it so far. I grew up since coming to the US wanting to go to college and compete in gymnastics (and get scholarship to attend that college). I was in gymnastics since age 4. My adoptive parents divorced when I was age 9 leaving mom and me poor. Gymnastics academy fees and transport there got too expensive when I was age 13. Rather than quit I found a job that connected to construction. I liked the hard work. I got several jobs that somehow related to construction. Then I got severely beat up by older athletes from my school who just graduated that May. I was doing my usual bar workout at our school by the sports field. I had done pull ups and muscle ups and hanging leg raises. I was then stretching when 3 athletes came over and just said they wanted to have some fun punching the shit out of abs. I had trained my abs hard since starting gymnastics and by that night maybe 10 years of hard training. But it was 3 of them. They held me in a full nelson. I was shirtless and they didn't wear gloves. They took turns throwing hard punches on and off for over 30 minutes. My fear turned to high self confidence by the time they left. But my desire to do gymnastics turned into a desire to build a lot of lean hard muscle. I healed up enough to go to the summer school weight room. I met some high school wrestlers who were happy to help me learn to lift weight for muscle mass. About 6 months later I started to train to take hard punches and that took on a life of its own. I graduated high school age 17. I spent the last 2 years of high school building a lot of muscle but wasn't able to afford college and no gymnastics to rely on. I then went to a community college but in the spring (March 2020) the school closed in person classes because of the pandemic. I felt my life take a left turn. I got back into exercise addictive habits (abdominals and pull ups) and extremely lean. Then I found a job at Menards (box store for home improvement). I worked there over a year then was hired by a construction company. They came to Menards when the pandemic was opening and liked me a lot. They offered me a job knowing I had just a little construction experience. But at Menards I worked in the building materials department. I would say I'm an apprentice don't have that title. I was interested in your channel and then you ended the content! But I subscribed anyway and will see what else you're doing. I hope you are doing great.
Ben RU-vid recommended this video. I"m age 21 and did gymnastics 14 years. Through a series of events I didn't continue in gymnastics after high school and got into full time construction at age 19. I am interested in how guys and gals get into trades here in the US. I'm Ukrainian by birth but adopted and raised in very rural USA. I hope to check out some of your other videos.
Just watching this because my uncle that came to visit and has his own business offered to pay me $1,000 per week I have no clue about any electrician stuff or how many hours but at least he’s willing to train me and hopefully it goes well since I’m quitting my fast food job.
How a going Ben u don’t know me or nun but Ik me and a lot more ppl want u to upload a few videos and Ik it would make a few peoples day aswell hope u see this and start making videos again so u won’t have any regrets because u could die anytime anyway, good luck
Ben, you’re engaging brother! You can combine your life activities into a vlog and upload every Saturday. A little electrical, a little working out, and a little bit of adventuring. Throw it all in one video and show the world. I hope you find peace and happiness no matter what you do. I believe in you brother 👊
Do you think that doing electrical work can me learned on the fly while working ? :D I got an offer to go do outlets / lights and stuff in freshly built building but i've never done a single electrical thing in my life but it pays extremely well and the guy said he'd teach me :D It's an amazing offer moneywise but I'm scared to fuck up something and make some fatal mistake or that i won't understand anything ... but id have like 26€/h which is crazy compared to the average of maybe 8€/h in my country.... mhhm its kinda just like advanced lego .... maybe i should try it
Beginning my journey soon to become an Electrician. 26 years old, fully aware that if I did this sooner I’d be much more content than I am right now, but better late than never. Thanks for the video man
I’m 26, looking at getting into electrical, training for so many years..then becoming my own boss. Regret not doing it years ago but took the wrong path in life. Does anyone have any negatives or positives about doing this? Any answers welcome :)
one thing that’s helped me is i started to treat RU-vid as a hobby. when you do it only because you enjoy it other things like views, likes, or whatever doesn’t matter to you. so if you enjoy make these continue doing so. don’t try to be “the next guy” or anything. just be yourself.
Ok ima just say in 2023 it’s literally 0 way to become an apprentice as an electrical unless you go to school. Even if you sacrifice the pay to get into it. Their “entry level” at most jobs is 2-3 year experience 😒
