When I was 9, Ricky Nelson was the reason I asked my parents to buy me a guitar. I'm now 67, & still love playing & singing Ricky's beautiful songs - especially today (May 8th) what would have been his 79th, birthday. Happy Birthday Ricky !
The second song I learned to play. The first was Poor Little Fool, the third was Travelling man. I used to say I learned to play guitar from James Burton. ha
@@jesmelrichave you gotten around to posting the chat yet? Thank thank you and thank you so much for all the content. I wa not born into that generation but the first time I saw 18 yr old Rick in reruns the butterflies hit my tummy and I developed by first crush. I had just turned nine when he was killed in the plane crash. On New Year’s Day, I came down the steps at my parents house and turned on the TV and there was the news that Rick had passed. I was so upset and inconsolable, and my mother had to comfort me all day. I was sad for weeks. Love you Ricky! 😭 🕊️
barrygioportmorien1 Yes i agree, he is one my favourites too, it seems his voice shifted into a lower range and did not seem to have as much power as he got older too and not sure why, this is not too many years after he first sang it either, well 18 years granted but most singers keep their voices longer than that, check out the "I'm walkin / hello mary lou" live medley from 1970 that is also on here and he sounds perfect on it so the voice change is between 1970 and 79, maybe it was years of smoking that did it? 🤔🤔
