Musto had a Great response, seemingly off the cuff, as to what Ecstasy is. Interesting series of shows. Geraldo I believe is on record to admitting to some wild times when he was younger. Amazing the power, authority & ability to shift focus when you have a mic in hand.
I’m here after listening to Cobrahs new song with Amanda Lepore and I was like “hmmm what does Amanda look like now.” Then I saw that she was part of a group called Club Kids that I had never heard of. Then I googled all the members, and then the murder of Angel popped up. Then I watched the movie Party Monster. So pretty much a rabbit hole 😅
This is in the movie Party Monster, if you haven't seen it it's pretty wild. It's a fun campy movie with REALLY dark subject matter. The main star is Ketamine, but Macauley Culkin and Seth Green are good co stars.
these are all the characters that you COULDN'T EVER invite to your house because they would take your stuff LOL. This was before Lace Fronts so those wigs all have bangs bangs bangs!! what ever happened to these people? do the kids today have as much fun? are they THIS creative? we never see anything now that THIS is a part of every day life in ads, shows, etc..the only thing shocking these days seems to be horrible plastic surgery like over blown lips, butt implants and whatever the Kardashians tell their followers to do next. Is anything genuinely fun and creative anymore?
I loved being a teenager then 20-something in the 90s. While some people see these club kids as an extreme, they were simply doing what we all did in the 90s, which was be with our friends enjoying life.
Gen-X, the OG club kids. Life was so much more entertaining in the 90s. I can’t think of a better decade to become an adult gay man. Yeah, AIDS was still a thing in ‘94 but we knew how to stay safe.
The Club Kids were so existentially and artistically groundbreaking, what they did has gone on to inspire so many people and has affected the world in a huge way. A celebration of creativity, beauty, and uniqueness. One of the coolest things to ever happen. A path to enlightenment.
Its weird. I was 16 in 1994. I remember watching this and thinking they looked and sounded so cool. Now, I cant believe I thought that because how I see how pretentious "trying too hard to look and act different" they are. Some people were just genuinely eccentric. But I dont get that from these people at all. They just seem obnoxious.
In 34 effing years, it seems that largely the old folks haven’t 🥱 changed very much in this country. Funny how half the people ON that stage, went on to be successful to some degree or are STILL BEING successful, so, just goes to shoooowwwww youuuu, who run the world? Girls. gurls!
I think it was just a rebellion against the boomers. I’m from the generation of most of the kids on stage, and just remember the painstaking lengths my parents went through to impress literally everyone. It’s social castration in ways to get away from that mindset back then. I was never a club kid, I cared too much about grades lol but I did understand the movement. It was just sad so many of them died of drug overdoses, and of course the tragedy that was Michael, Frieze, and Angel.
those yuppies saying “well buy the club and then let you live in it and have you pay the bill” like?? honey did you get your feelings hurt bc you’re not cool enough to get into the club? 18:01
It was truly a hybrid culture. However, it was mostly a protestant, Scottish Clan culture peppered with it's collision with Irish culture. They didn't fail to benefit. They were particularly allowed to benefit. My people have always been seen as the "dirty" People. God fearing supposed do gooders back in their day left Appalachia calling my people "godless" because of our Old Regular Baptist faith tradition was not like the Presbyterianism or Methodism of the almighty north.
