Your outlook on books before you started reading is basically how i am now. Im trying to change that now. I have a rubbish imagination and attention span so trying some smaller reads to start.
Honestly I think Fight Club is one of Palahniuk's "worst" books. It's not bad at all, and the premise is great. I think others from him are stronger reads though. Choke is really good, probably his top form. And a lot of people sleep on Lullabye, but I really enjoyed that one. It's got elements of Fight Club in it as well.
I really want to enjoy reading. But im struggling to find the genre that i like. Ive started quite a few books and just lost interest half way through. My attention span isnt great apparently 🤣. Im trying a stephen king now, going for the running man. See how i get on

I find bringing your own drinks to a meetup helps. NA beer has come a long way on flavor too and a lot of bars offer em now. Also electric skateboards are sick 🤙
I recently started Malazan. I am liking it but it is complex. I really like Empire of the Vampire and I am listening to the sequel now. Thanks for sharing about your sobriety. I’m not there yet but I know it has to happen at some point. Please keep talking about it and how you are coping.
Yes, I noticed the difference between the two cameras and I actually prefer this one! Everything up close is more defined (including you!). Good luck with your sobriety! Your health will improve and you’ll be saving money to get more books! Yay!🎉🎉🎉

I’ve been dying to see your review of Anxious People by Fredrik Backman since you mentioned buying it in one of your videos a while back. Maybe I missed you talking about it, but I was just curious if you’ve read it yet, and if so, what you thought? I could be wrong, but I feel like Fredrik Backman books would be right up your alley! Anxious People is an incredible book!
Thanks for mentioning sobriety! I think its important to hear about and it can be a big inspiration to others. Ive been sober for 6+ years now and its one of the best decisions i have ever made. It enables me to channel my addictive personalityinto something more fruitful. And thats why i bought more than 100 books last year hahaha. Id like to hear about updates on that!
I love books since I was a child, and lately seeing videos around from RU-vidrs on book haul with 100+ books they buy just to make their shelves look pretty, without even knowing if they like it or not is heart breaking..love your passion and content had to subscribe 🙂 keep posting

I share a similar struggle with an addictive personality and really appreciate you sharing about sobriety. I decided to try sober February ("Because it's the shortest month haha!") and my life immediately got so much better. I'm a few days away from 6 months sober and haven't looked back!

Thank you for being vulnerable enough to tell us about your struggles with alcohol. I almost 8 years clean/sober and it's the best decision I've ever made. Oh and Swan Song is an absolute banger.....it may be the best book I've read all year am I hoping it wins. It may not be that deep but if you ever need someone to talk too I'm around. 💙

Stopped alcohol a few months before the pandemic and it was easily the best decision I’ve ever made for myself and my family. You’ve got this man. As a father of two young boys, it is so great to be a living example for them. Please let me know if you need any help. Reading (and coffee!) help as well as waking daily.

I too am doing chronological king. I’ve done the same thing as you, started with IT when I was 8. lol. Now that I’m really a “reader” I decided to do all his stuff chronologically. Just finished cujo. Every other book I read I do a king!

I've read a lot of Chuck Palahniuk this year for some reason and "Invisible Monsters" is my favorite next to Fight Club. I felt like I could relate to the main character in that one quite a bit. "Snuff" was wild though, finished that one in a day. His stuff is wild. Not all great, but always interesting.
Totally feel you on the alcohol. I’m 70 days sober today. Not weird. I made a whole video on it and I mention it here and there in my vlogs, and it’s been well received.
There seems to be many members of Books are Sick that follow the sobriety experience also. My husband has been sober for 7 years. It’s been a real joy that he doesn’t have to answer the questions-should I or shouldn’t I. He just doesn’t. And he has become a terrific reader. You are so open and available and we appreciate this. Dare I end this with” I love ya”. Like you end your podcasts. I mean it. Can I speak for the group--we all do.
Hearing you talk about your struggles with alcool and your plans on sobriety makes me feel like I am not alone! I have the same kind of addictive personality(did the same with books and also with plants lol) and I was always the one friend that could never have just one drink…. I was fine not drinking but if I had one, I needed 10 😅 I had tried to limite my consumption in the past and it never worked long terme for me. Last year I dicided to quite cold turkey and althought it was hard and sometimes I still struggle (summer is especially hard for me with BBQ etc). I am now 16 months sober and It was the best decision I ever made for me and my familly . Thank you for sharing I wish you all the best in your soberiety journey! ❤
