Hello, from ur experience, I wanted to ask u about bokeh comparison in sigma 85mm f1.4 lens on both apsc and full frame, which camera will result in more bokeh? I know that full frame is better in bokeh but considering the compression we get from the crop factor on apsc in the 85mm distance will that result in more bokeh than using it in full frame body?
Hey man! If you’re still in Nashville, I own an eva1 and I’m based in north Alabama. Hit me up if you’d like to check it out for a video. I’d love to see the eva1 get some new love online. I love its image. I also own an s1h & bs1h. Let me know
But they've already made a lumix bs1h, that's a S1H but in a blackmagic's pixies/komodo form factor. The only downside is that it hasn't built-in nd filters and lacks higher frame rate modes (4k 120p)
I kinda think this is not a "my wish" video ... rather than that it's "pre-announcement video". Someone here spoken with Panasonic during Cine Gear 2024 and either got some inside knowledge or been asked to record such "pre-announcement". I'm kinda waiting till end of the year to buy either my b-cam for my A7IV or buy A-cam and make my A7IV the b-cam. 90% chance it will be another Sony camera, but I'm watching what is happening and there is slight changes it won't be actually another Sony.
"The focus is hard to pull because the sensor is so small I'm guessing?" Actually, see where it says "3 CCD" on the side? That's referring to it's three 1/3" sensorS. Pro and prosumer cameras back then had 3 monochrome sensors. A dichroic prism took the light from the lens and split it into red, green, and blue channels that each sensor recorded. It's kind of the only proper way to record a red, green, and blue value for each pixel in the image which is why ENG cameras still use three sensors. Since those cameras only record SD (345,600 pixels), using a bayer pattern and interpolating the values would have introduced way more noticeable artifacts and going with a higher resolution sensor would have required shrinking the photosites and hurting it's low-light performance.
The gh5s is hands down still the best video sensor they made, I had the dvx200 it was noisy and soft because the lens wasnt fast enough for the GH4 sensor. I had the af100 but its too old now, shot movies on it. I am currently reviewing and using my new to me GH5s and it is rocking my socks, its a damn near perfect camera. If they put the GH5s sensor in a DVX250 I am SOLD! If they do it for a af102 I am SOLD! but panny people have said many times if you want a af102, the GH series is it. and.... ITS NOT. The EVA was pretty useless as it was not well built, had no viewfinder and wasnt MFT mount. I NEED that 4/3rd sensor. Its the PERFECT SIZE.
I’ve been hoping for this same camera for a few years now. There will be a S1H successor soonish, and then a BS1H successor also after that. Talking to the reps at NAB this year, I was told that the fruits of the LUMIX/VariCam team merger will be a couple years out still. That’s when we should expect to see this camera, although the S1H/BS1H successors have the potential to get ~80% of the way there.
As much as I'd love to see this camera, part of me thinks it's too little too late, especially for popular public opinion. I'd be a bit worried about investing in their ecosystem at this stage unless we saw them hit a few home runs to solidify their position in the pro camera space first. Although I've enjoyed my S5 and BS1H I think Panasonic have fallen pretty far behind the pack and it stinks seeing long standing issues that aren't getting fixed in firmware or even with the new hardware. When I shoot freelance corporate or TVC jobs for production companies where we aren't renting a bigger camera like an Alexa or even FX6, it's pretty hard to convince producers that the Panasonic cameras are up the the job in the same way they know an FX3 or Blackmagic Pocket Camera to be (Though I will say that they're normally really impressed with the Panasonic images in the end). I just mean that most production companies know Canon, Sony, Blackmagic, Red and Alexa cameras and understand how to intergrate those ecosystems into their workflows. While all this is totally OK when we work on our own projects, the brand has no real reputation in the profesional space anymore wich means bigger companies aren't used to working with them and they're harder to sell as part of your day rate package as a result - and I think it'll take a while to win that reputation back.
Adding to your list: Internal raw LT and HQ Yes arri log ( added not down load) A larger style BS1H body with side handle. And monitor! Stronger battery life Faster sensor readout!! If I can snap one photo at a time for= ( continuity , lens framing , locations, storyboarding, reference, Extra ) Fun to use!!!! Yes it would be my upgrade.
