Hi! My name is Mylena and this is where I share my passion for weaving. I make tutorials and inspiration videos about rigid heddle looms, table looms, floor looms and counterbalanced looms.
I've never woven a single thing, but loom weaving is my latest fixation and I can't stop watching your videos. You're so friggin adorable! Everything about these videos is a shot of serotonin to my brain.
Where is the full length video on this? It’s a clasped weft with a Birds Eye pattern? I NEED to learn. I am recently subscribed, found you through your dish towel experiment and I love your content! Thank you form a baby weaver!
Hello! Indie dyer here! I use textile detergent from Dharma Trading which is formulated to bind to unset dye particles and suspend them in the water until it's drained. With fiber reactive (cotton/cellulose) dyes there are some dyes that bleed worse, these are primary reds or Fuschia and Turquoise and therefore many shades of reds, purples and blues can bleed excessively so anything I make with these colors get washed in the same detergent 3 times if I am keeping it and 2 times if it is going to another person.
Your tutorials have been so pleasant, informative, and organized. I’m hitting like at the beginning of the video. I already know it’s going to be good. 😊 Thank you for the great content! As an aspiring novice, it helps me to see the consequences of your mistakes, and how you correct them. Catching a glimpse of your cats always adds value as well. 😁
Fantastic video. I have watched so many “beginner” videos that don’t touch on any terminology at all or even show the most basic beginner concepts. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.
At 22:23 in the video does it matter that you’re pulling the threads to the side while winding them on rather than holding them straight out in front? I notice the threads farthest from you are longer because of this and wondered if that could possibly affect the tension.
I just got my first rigid heddle loom. I’m enjoying your video and the different approach to warping. I am researching to educate myself before my first attempt at a project. When you’re drawing the thread over the apron bar it looks like you’re alternating over and under every other time. Is that correct or am I just confused? 😊
Thank you for demonstrating how to handle changing bobbins when using a variegated yarn. It is not as complicated as I thought. Also, I agree that using a darker tabby than the warp adds depth. The finished scarf is a treasure 🌸!
For many reasons! Wider looms are more expensive and take up more space. It doesn't always make sense to get a big loom and double weave can be a solution in some situations 😄
Thank you! I couldn't find any at local stores, so I bought them on amazon. They came in different colors and with a pair of pliers to help secure them 😊
Beautiful work that you have done to revitalize this lovely loom! I agree with the comments about hand position on the beater (lefty here). Also consider making sure that your fabric canvas is square. It can easy be tied in slightly off balance, as can warp tie on being slightly off (you may have slightly difference tie on tension between left and right sides). Sometimes it’s not the loom, but what we are doing to the loom.
omg so beautiful!! its so funny how pets always want to be involved in whatever we're doing, my dog always tries to sit in my lap while im knitting and ends up sitting on my working yarn which completely halts the project😂 he's worth it though❤️
Looks amazing! I love it! I read that if you unwind your ball of variegated and wind it back up the other way, then when you put it on your bobbins, the colour on each bobbin will just follow the one before.
If u don't have a bobbin winder yet... Just use a drill. Cheaper as well. The lady I bought my loom from just used a drill and so does a weaver I watch also.
Thank u. This is the best overshot video out there. I was just trying to figure out that pattern tonight and didn't fully understand it. But I came across your video just now... Love the foot work as well. Thank u soooo much!
@@Curly_n_Yarny Great. I received on 30th May. I have done 5 scarves so far - Using 2 - gifted 3. My only regret - I should have bought a 32 inch instead of 16🙂 but it's ok. Thanks for the awesome videos
I saw on one of your videos where you were showing a lamp that was sent to you to try for weaving. I am desperately looking for a lamp and would like to know which one it was and where I can buy one. Do you still use it and do you like it? Love your overshot scarves, but love most of your work. I will become a Patreon today. I think you have a lot of talent.
Thank you so much for you nice words and for subscribing to my Patreon! I'm sorry for my late reply, I hope it's not too late. To answer you, I do still use the lamp I received from BenQ and I really like it! I have the add-on clamps so I put it on my rigid heddle loom stand and on my Mecco loom. It's really handy! It does shake a little bit, especially on my Mecco loom, but it doesn'y bother my weaving. Here's the Amazon link if you wish to check it out: (note that my lamp is the "Swing Arm Desk Lamp"): www.amazon.com/BenQ-Reading-LED-Desk-Lamp/dp/B0178HLTXO/
