The window in my studio has been empty for long enough! It is time to weave curtains to dress it up! And I'm using my rigid heddle loom to do so. In this video, I'm presenting the project and all the relevant information about it. This means the yarn, the dimensions and the pattern. In an up-coming video, I will be making the final touches to the curtains and finally hang them up.

THE YARN
For the warp and the weft, I used 8/2 cotton from Maurice Brassard in the color Naturel (100) and Jeans (4271). If you are in the US, here's where you can get the same yarn on The Woolery's website : woolery.com/maurice-brassard-...

In the video, you can see my Ashford rigid heddle loom. Its width is 32" (80cm) and I love it! If you are in the US and looking for the same loom, The Woolery has it! Here's their website: woolery.com/ashford-rigid-hed...

Crazy the difference one pick out of six makes. I guess in reality it affects the two picks next to it, but it's really a stunning effect with such a simple pattern. The fabric looks great, too, just see-through enough to see the loom while unwinding but definitely occulting from a distance.

I know what I'm doing tonight! I'm warping my loom with this pattern but for a baby blanket instead of curtains. I'll have to do the curtains next time! This is so wonderfully simple and stunning!

I had to work with what I had on hand and ended up altering the pattern to have 5 sections (4 stripes) on a 12.5 heddle with 8/2 cotton. The baby is due next month and it is very hot here, so I think this will be a lovely nursing cover for the mother to use. Thank you so much for your tutorial!

Whitch heddle do you used v for 8/2 yarn ?
@Curly_n_Yarny
@Curly_n_Yarny 6 месяцев назад
It depends on the project! For the curtains in this video, I used my 15 dpi and I singled the warp threads. I have also used my 10 dpi and my 12.5 dpi for other projects. When I did, I doubled the warp threads in the heddle.
