So. I have a Toshiba 32gb Wii U. It will boot and drop you into main screen and the moment you select something it will Either freeze or occasionally boot into a stored game, but it won’t run long without glitching. Could Any of this fix this unit possibly?

Is there any harm in doing some of the prep-work like tinning pads on the NAND-AID before I start working with the Wii U board? I'm very much a soldering newbie so anything I can do to make the process easier is good.

Step 1: Don't! Lost my pokemon yellow save file after I dropped the cartridge, battery holders suck. You don't lose your savefiles after a drop when the battery is soldered in directly and they keep the save file for 10+ years
@Tzirf

You are correct some of the holders will not keep the battery in place if the cartridge is dropped. I personally prefer the tabbed batteries. Cheers

I would like some advice please. wiiu that I'm editing I have changed the region and it's stuck. Can't use UDPIH. Can't use de fuse dump otp. Mr. SDIO taught me how to debug until I was able to get the mini otp. From what I've been told, in this Wiiu the OTP dump channels are closed in many ways. Is there a way to install the newly acquired MLC into emmc? Or must it be used through MLC2SD (should it be the same as nand aid?) Many things said It may not be very accurate. Because I don't have much knowledge. thank you
@Tzirf
@Tzirf 3 дня назад
I would recommend contacting SDIO. He has far more knowledge about all of that than I do. I am curious why UDPIH and the recovery menu won't work for you though. Should be able to use that to put the region back to what it should be.

So I’m gonna be installing the nand aid cause my Wii U freezes opening anything but what I’m trying to see if how to install the Wii U software fresh on the console essentially like a factory reset I have nothing that needs backed up just needing a blank state
@Tzirf
@Tzirf 11 дней назад
If the Wii U freezes when launching anything it could be a defective 2.4Ghz Wifi Module. Test and validate the eMMC is failing using the recovery menu and a udpih. You can rebuild the MLC by using the guide provided by SDIO: gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-upgrading-rebuilding-wii-u-internal-memory-mlc.636309/ This would be the same guide used to rebuild the MLC on a NAND-AID. how mich did you heat those pins up? it looks like they have been heated up to a very soft degree. am I correct, or is the fact this is so small deceiving me?
@Tzirf
@Tzirf 11 дней назад
Pins were not heated. There would be no reason to do that unless you planned on removing the connector and replacing it. I do not know the history of the console though and far as I can tell it was opened and someone messed with that connector which is why the top pin was already bent and the latch was broken.

You write that you need a backup of the SLC and MLC. My Wii U is completely bricked with a black screen. How do I make this work with my console's condition?
@Tzirf
@Tzirf 11 дней назад
You only need to back them up if you plan on restoring data. If you look at my written guide it explains that without a backup you will have to rebuild the MLC, thus losing all data on the console. Honestly its the preferred method as restoring corrupt data and then repairing it is extremely time consuming. I recommend you start with the recovery menu + UDPIH. You will need to install ISFShax using the recovery menu to repair a console with a NAND-AID. www.tzirf.com/nintendo-consoles-handhelds/wii-u-nand-aid-installation-guide-complete/

@Tzirf

Error reading disc could be a failing drive or damaged disc. You can isolate the disc reading error by checking with a known working game disc that you verified in another console. If all games are freezing on the splash screen I believe that indicates a Defective Bluetooth Module is present in the console.

interesting video and cool to see it under the microscope. i’m thinking of cleaning all my carts soon, do you have any opinion on people using erasers to clean them? I also have wd40 contact cleaner, would that be similar to deoxit?
@Tzirf
@Tzirf Месяц назад
I have seen and heard for years how using an eraser on NES/SNES/SEGA carts will clean them. While it is true that it removes some dirt/gunk it also spreads it around, which is something you won't be able to see unless you have a microscope. That being said I did use this method of cleaning pins when I was a teenager so I know it works to some extent. However I have found the magic eraser works best for cleaning & polishing the pins. As for WD40 contact cleaner, yes this is probably similar to Deoxit. I have not personally used it, but according to the manufacturer, it removes dust, dirt and oxidation in electronics and is fast drying and leaves no residue. If you use it and find it works please leave a comment.
@MisHapMusic
@MisHapMusic Месяц назад
@@Tzirf Out of interest have you tried what you did above with isopropyl as in isopropyl and the magic eraser under the microscope i’m wondering if the slight abrasive is what mostly does the actual cleaning more than the type of cleaner one would use.
@Tzirf
@Tzirf Месяц назад
@@MisHapMusic Yes I have, IPA is absorbed/evaporates quickly so you have to reapply it constantly. Also its not great at removing oxidation on the pins, which is why I said Deoxit works better for this. You could certainly try it with IPA but it takes way more effort and much longer than 5-10 minutes to get the same results. Also if the oxidation is closer to corrosion your out of luck, you need deoxit or a similar product.

Hi! I made a mistake by accidentally braking the whole connector, not just the latch. Where would I need to go to get it re soldered, or can I send it to you? Thanks. (It’s the ribbon cable connecter for the home button so the console currently won’t turn on.)
@Tzirf
@Tzirf Месяц назад
I am not currently able to accept consoles being mailed to me for repair. I would look locally and see if there is anyone who does this kind of repair. Are you sure its the home button and not the power button? I am not aware of a 3DS that needs the home button to power on. Which console is it?
@unk00laid24
@unk00laid24 Месяц назад
It’s the regular 2ds model. I’m not very knowledgeable about this sort of stuff, but, the ribbon cable latch connector thats on the motherboard for the home button is broken off. I don’t really know what treatment the console needs, but I assume it would need a replacement connector or for the broken one to be re soldered. Let me know your thoughts, thanks.

@Tzirf 2 месяца назад
Yes you could certainly use a socket. I have used them many times. I don't typically use them for games in my own collection though. I guess I just like the original way Nintendo did the save battery. Only takes me a couple minutes to replace these batteries which is very easy for me. I have had individuals ask me to install the socket for them and I agree. If you are someone who doesn't solder and you are having someone replace these batteries for you I would recommend using the CR1616 socket, as its a one and done solution and the next time the battery needs to be replaced you can just pop out the old one and pop the new one in. As far as I know the CR2025 sockets do not work or cause the cart to bulge due to the added thickness. Either way CR2025 or CR1616 batteries can be used with GB/GBC games.

The CR2032 is a larger capacity. That being said its thicker, which is why Nintendo didn't use them in these games. see the numbers on these batteries have to do with the width and thickness. So a 2032 is the same width, but .32mm thick, where the 2025 is .25mm thick.
