Apple Genius Bar can't even diagnose a charging problem properly

So this story begins with an individual named John who took an iPhone to the Genius Bar because it wouldn't charge. The Genius Bar from what I was told inspected the phone and then began testing the charge port by trying several cables to see if it would charge. After 4 cables they determined that the charging port was damaged. John asked them if it could be repaired and was told that they needed to talk to another technician to see what they could do. After a few minutes the technician returned and informed John that the phone was burned out and that the lightning port destroyed the motherboard and he would have to spend $350.00 to have it repaired. The technician went on to say that he would recommend john just replace the phone with a newer one instead of repairing it.
More details are in the video about the ridiculous claims Apple Genius Bar made to try to convince a customer to purchase a new device. This is the reason why right to repair has to exists and is so important. I know what some people are going to say, they never experienced this or this is why they don't buy Apple. The truth is neither of those statements helps solve the problem, all it does is dismiss it. It doesn't matter which company your buying a phone from, they are all doing this to some extent.
I suspect this problem effects a small percentage of phones (maybe 5-10%) This isn't the first time I have seen this with a phone or tablet. I think the determining factor is the material the clothing is made from and whether the phone is carried around in a pocket or a purse. It probably also depends on whether you put the phone in your pocket with the charge port facing up or facing down.
IF YOU HAVE HAD A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE WITH AN IPHONE OR OTHER APPLE DEVICE WITH IDIOT BAR LEAVE A COMMENT. I WANT TO HEAR ABOUT IT.

I was first "were is the dirt". Then he scratches it with the toothpick and I am "uh that looks nasty". I think this problem is even more common with USB-C as the dirt sticks better in the small gap. There you can cut out a pick from some plastic packaging, which has the right thickness. That worked great for me on my old phone

I have the same issue with my phone every now and then. My current phone, which I bought refurbished, had that same issue. I just used a floss pick because that's what I had.
