Hi JoAnn, looks like you had a great time antique shopping. Love the bench you got. The canisters were a good find. The hutch looks lovely. Enjoyed the video. Have a great week. ❤😊🌻
Hi JoAnn! I love that kitty vase, Santa, and the Scottie! I enjoyed looking around the antique store with you! I love how your little hutch looks, you styled it so nicely! Big hugs and hope you’re well! ❤❤
Oh you know I’ll be there! Berryville days are coming to, I just heard about that so that’s on my list of events to check out! And I think Art and I will be coming to your store in a couple weeks, I can’t wait to shop your booth!!!
Oh my gosh, what a fun day of antique shopping. I wish we had more antique stores around here. Gotta be respectful of the budget when the husbands are with us 😂😂😂😂😂 The tins are pretty!!! Great finds my friend❤!!!
Hi there! I’ve been loving your shark week on IG! You crack me up! I’m behind on replies and comments…I’ll be working on catching up this weekend! Thanks for being one of my besties! You and your videos always make me smile! ♥️🥰
Hey my bestie!! Hope you guys had a nice holiday! So many treasures! Ohhh well hello miss queen👸👋🏻 Wow.. Loved the area with the wall & drawers full of all the old utensils & kitchey items!❤ I'll be soooo glad when i can get back to thrifting & antiquing!!😕 Oh I love the apron, so sweet❤ I google Lens everything! Sometimes in the store to see If its worth the asking price. I love silver silverware! I haven't bought any in a while. I like the unique pieces & the little baby spoons too. The smallest of the little white jars reminds me of an old cream or salve jar🤷♀️ I have a green glass salt & pepper shaker that looks very similar, they're hanging from a little silver t-shaped stand. I've collected lots of red handled utensils, i really want to start collecting the green handled ones!! And maybe other colors too. The antique stores in TN seemed to carry more of the red handled ones. The large shaker weigh the red lid is interesting.. wonder what it was? Maybe A talc powder or some sort of powder🤔 Oh Wow the crock was definitely a great score, she's beautiful & love it has the lid! Great price too! I have a couple small crocks that aren't as old or crazed/stained, but i really would love to find a few nice ones, at a good price. Its just by luck you find great pieces at great prices..i really enjoy those times when I'm having a lucky day🍀 The back of the hutch looks really nice with the faux wood paper. Love how you've styled everything! Enjoyed the video & thanks for sharing! Love ya & have a blessed week 🙏🏻❤
Hi there bestie! I’m running so behind with my replies! I hope your having a good week! I haven’t had a chance to google lens anything yet. Work has been so busy this week. I need to go back for some green handle things for Christmas! I think mixing the green and red will be fun! Love ya Miss Tammy! See ya Sunday! ♥️🥰
The hutch looks really good, adding the lighter contact paper did just the trick to help highlight your treasures. Painting the bench was the best choice for your space and the price was terrific. If it was going in a Country Kitchen, the Apple decor might have worked. Have a good week.
Fun seeing you two out antiquing together ❤. Love all of your finds and especially love your hutch and the way you decorated it!!! Looks absolutely charming bestie 😘❤️❤️❤️
Good morning sweet friend 😊 I love all your treasures that crock is amazing you styled everything perfectly ❤ I’ve got quite a few of those milk glass jars 1 of them is a Johnson & Johnson baby powder jar so precious I’ve got it in my bathroom w/ a pc of blue ticking material wrapped around the top ❤ that apron is precious ❤ your shelf turned out beautifully I just love all your decor ❤ I finally scored a campfire marshmallow tin @ auction for 17.50 I was going the happy dance 😂😂 inside there were dealers that wanted it but Jesus have it to me isn’t he sweet like that but I’m still gonna make some I’ve got the labels already & I’ve told my daughter that I got it yet I’ll find her 1 & make her 1 until then 😊 anyway sweet friend have a Blessed wk until nxt time happy junkin 😊
I’m doing a happy dance for you!!! It’s so amazing how Jesus shows up in the small things, like that campfire tin steal of a deal! The lesson in that is that He cares for us in ways that are human in nature, reminding us that He is real and present for all the things. I’m so happy for you!!! Love you much sweet friend! ♥️🥰
Jo Ann when our son was in JMU many years ago we use to antique all up Route 11. We loved the Strasburg Emporium . We bought many treasures there through the years. Your new bench looks wonderful and I love all your styling in your hutch. You found some great treasures. Love the crock , canisters and the milk glass jars. Enjoy your day and kiss Maggie for me. Love and blessings ❤️❤️❤️
What a small world it is! Strasburg is full of little vintage and antique gems! Happy Sunday and much love to you John and Baby Boy from Art, Maggie and me!🥰🐾♥️
What a fun place to shop and browse. My favorite item is the crock you found and I really like how you styled your black hutch, absolute perfection. Thx for taking us along with you. ❤
Well, that was fun!! I love that little bench in the color you painted it!! So cute! You styled everything so nice. Ill say it a million times probably - You have an eye for decorating.!
Me too! The older the better. I love chubby, rusty and dusty ❤the doilies are just beautiful! I have never seen the fairy doilies but I can see how they would have been useful. The crock and book are also great ❤❤❤
Great find on the doilies! Our local thrift store has their prices up to $2.99 to $3.99 a piece. I love the aged look too, it tells a story of the past!
Hi there! This was The Past and Present store in Winchester Va. it is full of vendors and each booth is really good, some more expensive than others but way more reasonable than many antique/vintage stores around this area.
Hi there! What an awesome store. The money would've been flying out of my wallet I saw so many beautiful things I could have added to my collections. I love all the things you got. Can't wait to see how you use them in your home. Thanks for sharing. XO
Most history lessons for doilies state it was the nuns who started teaching doily making to poor Irish women as a way for them to make money by marketing them (mid to late 1800’s). Then it became more commonplace in Victorian times to use several doilies around table scapes to protect furniture from moisture and messes. This is when fancier crocheted items became popular, as it was very important for young ladies to have many doilies and table runners included in their dowery chests. In 1866, a publication mentioned a doily for wine glasses and the maker’s name was Doiley (possibly the origin of the name?) Also, in the 1800’s, crocheted antimacassars were made to protect chair arms and backs from the macassar oil men used in their hair at the time. Later, in the US, the tradition was picked up, but they were called chair sets. Doilies were also used to make tussie-mussies in Victorian times for women to carry flowers in. I collect many doilies and I make doily & lace wedding journal books. Some are clean, but some I tea stain to get that older look like some of yours. Today, the more prized ones are handmade, especially Irish ones. I love your little crock❤
Oh my, I am thrilled you had that knowledge and shared it with me! The more I learn about all my treasures the more special to me they become! Do you happen to know if there is a way to tell the Irish ones apart from other regions? If I can score an Irish one I will be over the moon!!♥️🥰
@@TheCuratedHome From what I know, Irish linen is made from some of the highest quality flax, now imported from France, Belgium or the Netherlands. At one time they grew and spun their own. Irish damask is used mostly now for the top end of the market of luxury uses. The same with their Jacquard patterns and weaves. The yarns that are woven out of the country, then brought in to be bleached, woven & made into something are not truly considered Irish linen, even though they may say “made in Ireland”. To be truly considered Irish linen, the yarn must be spun using the skills, craftsmanship and technology of the Irish and the linen fabric must be made using the design and weaving skills of the Irish, from 100% flax. Once you own a piece, you can easily tell the difference in quality. It is usually durable, but soft & breathable. It is also heavier/ coarser than, say, Italian linen. Linen does wrinkle, does not stretch much, feels cool to the touch and often has a “shiny” look when new, but this will wash away. It absorbs moisture easily, but dries quickly. One test is to wet a finger and press down on the fabric. If it goes through to the other side, it is often linen. Other fabrics tend to take longer to absorb. Not sure how else to describe it 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
Jo Ann awesome haul. You know how much I love doilies and you found some really beautiful ones. I love the cover of the book too❤️. You and Art enjoy your Sunday. Kiss Maggie for me. Love and blessings ❤️❤️❤️
I have found that the older I get I am so drawn to vintage. I was doing country decor, which I still like, but I am mixing it up trying to go more towards the cottage look. I love your decor. The picture of the boy and the dog is so pretty. I’m just starting my collection of vintage. I have a long way to go.
That’s exactly what I was thinking! I went out today thrifting and no luck finding one I liked. I’m off a few days next week so I plan to go a few towns over and see if I have better luck! Oh and I found your channel early this morning and subscribed! Can’t wait for you to share your new home with us!♥️
@@TheCuratedHome thank you so much for subscribing! I’m trying to make a come back slowly but surely! Lol. I definitely think a bench will look great in that area. I hope you find one ❤️
I hear ya! I’m nearing 60 and I usually put up (5) 7ft trees at Christmas and villages and all the other decor! This year 2 trees selling and donating all other stuff. I’ll never be a minimalist but reducing the amount of work and still enjoy the seasons.
