Welcome to my vintage technology channel. There's bound to be something for everyone, from paper tape to Pontiacs, Flexowriters to Frigidaires. I'll slowly add videos as time and projects permit.
Growing up, my dad had a 1980 Chevrolet Scottsdale 4x4 Shortbed 2 tone brown with 305 and low 4 speed. I wish it was still around, sharp truck. It had the "Silverado appearance package" with square headlights and the chrome trim. Interior was same but no carpet or cruise. Had the aluminum looking instrument panel and door trim and cloth brown seat.
My aunt hinted at wanting a new 78 MC. My uncle told her that they really couldn’t afford one, and went down to order her one! It had everything including a sun roof He took her to the dealer and surprised her for her birthday. These are great videos
I've driven 80s GMs more than anything else, but nothing any older. That multi-function lever is so standard I never imagined they didn't have it in the 70s. Even being able to activate the blinker without latching it fully into place was a feature? Wow. I just figured every turn signal was like that.
Chevys from those years were like fat girls both fun to ride until your friends see you on them

Yeah "difficult to get close to." You try to sell me a bill of goods, you better believe I'll be difficult to get close to! Come on, Mable, let's get over to the Lincoln dealer. This dude is on something if he thinks I can't see that half the car is missing.
That Chevy looks good but I'm sure it rusted away before your eyes like most square bodies. Heck, the rust was probably already starting at the time this film was made.
My parents owned one of these garbage cans. I was 9 or 10 at the time. They unfortunately purchased it used. What a disastrous motor vehicle. It was the beginning of GM building garbage and expecting the American public to accept it. See where they are now, and where Toyota and Honda is.
A friend of mine has one he drive right now.... Runs black diesel through it.... Look up "Black Diesel" if you don't know what it is. He had another one he ran straight filtered used fryer oil through it until it rotted out beyond patching.
When I see this car, it ignites thoughts of United States historical heritage like references to apple pie. Similarly, why not add to the list the Chevrolet Impala. In the eighties, Fairfax County in Northern Va stocked its fleet of police cruisers with a plentiful amount of Chevrolet Impalas. Not going to leave out Ford, with its LTD, which also served on Fairfax Counties police car fleet, but more often than not, the most visible of police cruisers in the 80s in Northern Va, was the Chevrolet Impala. Don't underestimate it. They were equipped with front anti- roll stabilizer bars to enhance handling as well as likely 15 inch rims. It's also possible that at that time, they also had a higher rated 180HP horsepowerr V-8, in comparison to the more subdued civilian variety 140 horsepower V-8.
