1980 was both the first year for square shaped headlamps & last year for round shaped headlamps. The square shaped headlamps came standard on models with the Silverado & Sierra Classic trim levels & optional on the others. Also 1980 was the last year for the nose on the front, emblems, interior, optional bodyside molding trim, & tailgate with those designs. Those generation Chevy & GMC pickups, Suburbans, Blazers, & Jimmys were produced from 1973 through 1991, except the half ton & three quarter ton regular cab pickups were discontinued in 1987 & the one ton regular cab pickups were discontinued in 1989.
Also was the last year for their C20 (except for the ones that came with the 454 )and K20 models to have the full float corporate 14 bolt, then in 81 they all came with the semi float 14, which I didn't like.
I have a 1980 Silverado C30 single rear wheel, long bed 2WD. It has a 454 with a 4 bbl and automatic transmission and dual fuel tanks. I’m looking for a 1980 Silverado tailgate if anyone knows where I can get one.
Growing up, my dad had a 1980 Chevrolet Scottsdale 4x4 Shortbed 2 tone brown with 305 and low 4 speed. I wish it was still around, sharp truck. It had the "Silverado appearance package" with square headlights and the chrome trim. Interior was same but no carpet or cruise. Had the aluminum looking instrument panel and door trim and cloth brown seat.
The Big 10 was Chevy's answer to the Ford F-150. The F-150 came out first in 1975 & later the Big 10 came out in 1976. Both were optional heavy duty half ton pickups at the time because the base F-100 pickups were still in production up through 1983. 1980 was the last year for the Big 10.
