Hi, my name is Wolfgang M. Schmitt. I am an ideology critic and film critic from Germany. On this channel I will analyze a popular film every week in an ideology-critical way. In addition, I will draw on philosophical, political, psychoanalytic and sociological theories. Like the famous German film critic Siegfried Kracauer said: "Films are a mirror of society". I would be happy if you would like to look into this mirror with me.

Extremely interesting thoughts, Sir. I think what you have here is a homily on this film as found object. You surely don't believe Hitchcock was making such statements through The Birds -- or anything else philosophical? If you do, great, and who can say you're wrong.
Excellent video. I have been greatly enjoying your channel. If you are open to films to analyze may I suggest, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Classic film. While there are many anaylisis videos on youtubeof that film I feel you would provide a unique option.
It makes me so happy to see someone breakdown the failures of this movie. I feel like I've been gaslit my whole life from people endlessly praising this movie.
Plausibility kills it. Like many of Hitch's films. But he was an expert at getting us to suspend our beliefs. SPOILERS: Expecting us to believe a guy would pre-arrange the strangling of his wife atop a bell tower in public, throw her off, screaming. And then walk back down the stairwell and walk away, all WITH your accomplice, completely un-noticed by anyone? Relying on a nervous breakdown is a lot to invest in.
Your video is really great. But your video views are too less.Because your videos are not SEO properly. Your SEO score is only 31 out of 100 . If you optimize your video tag title SEO and other then your video will be ranked and more views and more subscribers. Thanks
It could be the most offensive Tom Hanks movie, if he hadn't make that one in which he glorifies the arming and training of the Mujaheddins in Afghanistan back in the 80's. That was quite something.
I’m an English native speaker and I have been living in Germany for many years. German school system teaches English on the basis of grammar knowledge and written tests. Sadly there is no emphasis on spoken English and the teachers themselves cannot pronounce English correctly. To improve your pronunciation get yourself an English girlfriend who will correct all your mistakes or spend a month with an English speaking family. I still have a foreign accent when I speak German but I’m told it’s very mild and nobody can guess where I come from (Scotland). Find yourself a native speaker at your local university or somewhere and have some conversations. Alles gute aus Rheinland Pfalz…. Übung macht den Meister 😅
I was wondering that too and my only explanation is that he filmed this video right after he did the German version of "Challengers", which is a tennis movie. So, maybe he wanted to add a touch of tennis to that film analysis and forgot to take it off for the English version of "Civil War"? Or maybe he wanted to take it off, but the hair looked impossible, so he put it back on? Hard to tell.. (I don't take him to be the kind of person to miss anything esp. to do with styling, but that's my best guess: it has something to do with the previous filming)
This film is not about hedonism but about the horrors of a mental disorder. In my opinion, she conjured the 'memory' of her seeing the baby climbing the table as a justification for her whole 'theory of all', where nature and women are evil. Because she was indeed in the room having sex when Nick fell. Everyone is entitled to their own interpretation, but I do believe you missed the mark with hedonism there (it's just not a topic elaborated on in the film) taking the 'memory' at face value. Very well-structured and edifying video though, thank you!
You sir, beclown yourself. Listening to you make the claim that this movie, ANY Hollywood product, is veiled Trump propaganda is laughable. I guess TDS is international. It's also quite amusing to hear this buffoonish take in a German/Austrian accent. When it comes to starting world wars and fascism, you guys own the market. However, I do wish that such a pro-Trump, pro-reckless American, anti-globalist cabal film did exist. Great ASMR, though.
Good sir, you missed the entire message. It's about hope and how a man may find or lose it. It is about prevailing against the greatest of odds. It is about gambling one's safe perception of reality for a better existence. It is about positivity. I think it is a wholly American film for American perspectives. It speaks to our "boot straps" esthetic. Therefore, for us... it is the best movie of all time. I do appreciate your perspective, though. It was an interesting approach.
It’s streaming on paramount plus and looks and sounds fantastic on high definition. One thing that doesn’t make sense . Why would the client (Duvall) pay 15 thousand dollars ( a fortune in 1974) for a muddled conversation as edited by Harry ?!? A lot of the final scenes are just in Harry ‘s paranoid mind or are they ?
I owe you a debt of gratitude for correctly identifying the peculiar object on the wall of Jeffrey's (played by Kyle McLachlan) bedroom: a 'vagina dentata,' or toothed vagina. In addition, you elucidate the intentional parallels between Freud's analyses and Lynch's content in a compelling, clear-spoken manner. Again, thank you for producing this insightful review of one of my favorite films. I have always considered "Blue Velvet" to be a monumental masterstroke not only in Lynch's oeuvre, but also within the world of film in general.
