This was the first of two engine failures this experimental aircraft suffered, and unfortunately the second crash destroyed the plane and the pilots. RIP
Truth of matter is many of of single engine planes operating today are using engine tech from 60-70 years ago. Essentially, grandfathered in from an era when that was the best to be had. Most individuals without the needed finances to afford the new safer tech will take underestimated risk of flying these crappy relics. The FAA should just grow a pair and say no more of this. Mandatory upgrades or the plane stays grounded. Worse yet in U.S. aviation industry still allows them to use leaded fuel whereas rest of developed countries banned this practice long time ago.
My Brother-in-law is a pilot... he once told me "Any landing that you walk away from is a good landing. If you can use the plane again, its a perfect landing!" 🤣😂
Whew. Well done boys. Ideally you could shed a little more speed the field was fairly long however you don’t have time to think so bold save. Gonna hurt in the morning tho 😂
I’ve done many practiced forced landings (PFL) and I actually think this landing was crap. Should’ve trimmed, flaps when able and put that down properly. If he later died in another air crash, then as sad as it is, I can see why if he was PIC. Anything you can walk away from is a benefit, but definitely a lot to be learned from this video.
