After a few years of not having access to an ITG2 cabinet in my city, I learned that there was an arcade that had a DDR machine with everything up to A3 loaded on it. I had never seen a DDR chart past Supernova nor had any desire to, considering ITG2 was released a year before it and its charts blew Supernova's out of the water.. in addition to being able to load custom songs. But I figured hey, it's been almost 20 years, maybe Konami finally knows how to chart? But no. Trying several of the 14-18 rated songs, it seems they still really do not know what they're doing for the most part. A good chunk of the expert charts from ITG 1 are higher quality. It's not like they haven't improved overall.. but in general it's still mediocre at best. Having fun at least for now but really looking forward to having a home setup and playing charts that aren't straight out of the FFR simfile database 20 years ago like you said.
I’ve just recently come back to this album after a few years, loved it when it first came out and for a while after that I adore how connected this album feels and is positive and introspective at the same time It’s just such a feel/good album while still being able to deal with heavy subject matter

As someone who has put over 85 hours into Groove Coaster for Switch, I can absolutely say that while songs like Disappearence of Hatsune Miku are super hard to get FC's on for the NPS reason (having to mash at 12 Hz during the chorus) the harder songs are definitely the tech songs where I have to switch buttons more while being fast like Brain Power or Play Dice! are way *way* harder (Shown in my high scores with me having an S+ rank on DoHM, but not even close to an S+ with BP or PD) But the songs that I would say are the hardest to get good scores with are the songs with weird time signatures, like Jack-the-ripper or Dummy! (even though Dummy! is rated slightly lower) Just because having that muscle memory and pattern recognition be messed up by changes in melodies is way harder to overcome
Perfect makes perfect. Use a high refresh rate touchscreen to improve learning. The touch links it better and the display latency matters less because your finger covers it. The immediate feedback also works with electrically linked leds, even moreso.
he was spot on with flow aim but also wrong about merami, he is still the best tapping player to this day despite being mostly inactive the past few years and speed becoming meta. he really was just that far ahead. if rapid trigger weren't a thing speed would not be broken right now.
This video is 3 years old but I thought I might as well leave a comment for anyone else stopping by. I started playing fnf around mid 2020. It took me by interest both artstyle and gameplay wise, it was my first ever rhythm game so you could say I got ver interested. I played a bunch of mods (some of them being quite good for example vs tricky, vs nonsense, vs sunday [one of my favourites] and vs impostor [also a fire mod]). The community of modders and artists surrounding this game introduced me to a lot of old internet characters that if I hadn't played this game I don't think I would have ever heard of. Anyway, all good things have to come to an end and I stopped playing it in around 2022 to try out other games. But unlike some of my other friends who also tried out fnf and eventually quit, the rhythm game scene kept interesting me so it eventually pulled me back in. I had heard of osu! a few times but never truly played it. I then saw some scores around early / mid 2023 and decided to download the game. I was very bad at it and gave up after around half an hour of playing. Then in april of that same year I picked it up again and started playing properly. At this point I was hooked on the game and later started watching content of it on youtube, including this channel. Currently as of writing this comment I am 221k in osu std. I just recently decided to also try playing osu mania on the side and man, fnf's charts really were the easiest shit ever, I can barely get B ranks on a lot of 3 stars as of this point. But I am improving, hopefully I can get good at these 2 modes in osu and maybe taiko one day I know that was a lot of words so I might as well make a TLDR: while FNF might be the only rhythm game that people will ever play and will turn those people into little goobers that think that every other rhythm game is a modified version of FNF, for me and some others, it was a gateway into the genre and for that, I am eternally grateful to ninjamuffin, the other fnf devs and all the modders for making that a possibility. oh yeah fnf probably also influenced my drawing style and my music taste (I

Coming back to this topic, I feel like the release of world really shows how little Konami listens to their fans. I'm sure many would agree that the vast majority of players dislike what they did to mostly the UI. They definitely added a lot of great things (that were already present in other games), but they grabbed their wonderfully simplistic UI and shoved it all behind a messy select screen. At least that's what I think of it. But beyond that, the charm of DDR has been killed with the new art style. They have used the same lazy art over and over again all over the game and made all the UI obnoxiously unreadable. I used to look at the results screen for example and see everything I was looking for very clearly, but now I feel like I'm squinting my eyes just to see important details like "full combo" and more importantly what type of FC it is specifically. FC, GFC, PFC, and MFC all look identical and don't remotely stand out as anything special upfront like they used to. And why in the world did they feel the need to stick the words "STAR BURST" behind every single rating? Upon first glance I almost couldn't even tell what rating I was looking at. I get that a lot of these choices were made with the new flair gauge in mind, but I think most everyone would have appreciated leaving the old approach to DDR visible as well with FC rings (as well as the radar as a side note). But one major fuck up I think everyone can agree on is not allowing people to have the background video/classic dancers fullscreened. The playfield has downgraded significantly from any past version of DDR. I'm already sick of looking at the overused art slapped over my note lane and the stock image-esk green background behind every chart in the game. It almost makes me want to stop playing DDR entirely. I really appreciated the charm of the game that was present in every past version but now more than ever I feel the need to buy a cab and move on to ITG.
