Imma just say this They gonna be real mad when they find out worlds for pokemon in 2025 will have a top 125 invite cap for worlds and its not about participation trophies anymore So good luck trying to bypass the pokemon vets 😂
In response to "if you come back later you're gonna have to explain" Eh, not necessarily? They said they're taking an indefinite break, not hard quitting. Sometimes youve just gotta step back because the games shit is exhausting. Get a little break, cool new deck comes out, and it pulls you back in. Ain't nothing wrong with that.
Honestly I have seen titles like: “Is Yugioh dying?” every week now for months and months. Those idiotic content creators still come back all the time, suck on that meat and support Konami with their platform. Shit ain’t gonna change… never
Lmao, i really appreciate the intro.alarm going off in my apartment cause that first song was fire lol. Pros are learning that winning is fun too, but you can't win all the time; even with so-called tier zero, internet combos, and people learning the game.
Pro Player’s thinking it’s not ok for people with less experience to top or win Events is crazy. I’ll make a educated guess: You haven’t done enough to qualify! Put more effort in, it’s crazy I know. And yea prizing is trash but they know that… it’s nothing new. “Pro Player’s and RU-vidr’s/Streamer’s” think they are entitled to win because they advertise for the game is *ucked up”
Haven't watched the full vid yet but still wanna say something Something that's confusing to me is that some of these people who are "quitting" are really making it sound like someone promised them they'll get something in return. Like some people are acting as if they were told by Konami themselves that they'll be compensated or make money back by investing 1000hrs and spending 10k on their decks. And I don't know about yall but that just sounds (insert clip here) to me and very delusional. And a direct and personal middle finger to the guy who said he doesn't care about the creators wishes. No one ever promised anyone that getting good at Yugioh would get you a nice house or anything. It's just a hobby and cardboard and nothing else. Just because yall feel entitled to earn some cash prize because you were willing to break your wallet for a card doesn't mean shit and shouldn't even be an argument. Having a problem with Konamis distribution methods is a whole other issue entirely. Nothing will stop the game from being rng (without radical rule changes or more power creep but that's neither here nor there), being a top cut winner at one event doesn't mean you can't be one of the first people eliminated at the next event. It makes no sense to be mad at a game for not giving you something it never promised you.
Wow, it’s odd how the timing of this couldn’t be more relevant as I’m planning on selling my whole collection too 😂 don’t get me wrong, I love the game itself but the physical copy side of things to me are just so unbearably frustrating to buy. Prices jump around so much, I’m better off just using DuelingBook from now on lol
Blud, why the fuck was half the chat turning into transphobes once Jessica got on? Like, nah fuck that man. I agree with your stance and shit but it was kinda garbage mods weren't handlin' that shit.
TLDR; Creators farming general discontent with the game, but refuse to actively take the steps to fix the problem (which it to stop supporting the thing that is displeasing you)
I know I'm 3 years late on this, but couldn't serve and volley be useful outside of it's intended archetype? Like volley with mill decks also being a one for one target. Serve could run well with banish decks.
Almost a 2hr long video of DP ranting and hating on randoms in the community speaking negatively about the extremely weak prizing for highly competitive yugioh events, despite the fact he himself states in the video he don't play or even buy cards like that. But remember they the grifter just because they stomped there feet a little before slapping the door. what he fails to mention is that we have what 3 new card games that offer way better prizing AND less sackey gameplay.
If I can top a ycs with Darklord or Cardians. Phuck the prizes. That alone is an achievement. But to hear people volunteering buying snake-eys and fiendsmith, then still complain is annoying, yet funny.
I don't think it's completely unreasonable to ask for some better prize support or just more support overall as a top yugioh player. Pros and content creators are people that help bring visibility to the game. And yugioh isn't the only card game in the world, and other games have be better prize support or at least a more balanced game experience that at least makes investing energy in the game feel more reasonable. Some people here are being jaded and hyper critical of the pros and feel like pros and content creators are being entitled or nonsensical. About wanting to make their hobby a job. When the reality is that dpygo has essentially done the same he had it a little rough and he made some poor decisons in life and ygo helped him find community and a way to help sustain himself in a way in which he is his own boss and talks about something he at least vaguely enjoys. Times are hard, people can be generally unhappy and people are wanting to find ways to enjoy work and their hobbies. And if you can combine both why not, especially for a niche subset of people in the world I don't see how the very best couldn't get a little more scratch. Even if Takahashi was against it, it's clear that konami is banking on people spending large anount of money to help sustain the game while also directly working the leaders of the community to peddle product to masses. And then live stream events or hundreds of thousands of people. Often creating ban lists not just for the sake balance but for product cycles. And even if it could be seen as hypocritical that people complain about the game but play the good shit that's ruining the game. Why would you not also play the good shit sometimes, especially if you intend to win events. Its understandable that in any game period playing the best characters, cards, using the best equipment is normal. Even IF konami is responding with cards in relation type of cards people gravitate towards people aren't in control of what konami puts out or how they balance the game regardless. Even if the price of cards are getting obsurd it's symptomatic of capitalism and human nature as a whole. One one hand yes, it's a bit obtuse to expect konami to give a shit about your bottom line. If you spent 1000s of dollars on trips and cards and don't just treat them as mini vacations for yourself that's your problem. They got their money and you KNEW they they weren't.going to compensate for the effort or visibility. But on the other hand when people realize these things, but still love the game, going to events, interacting with the community and the company takes advantage of people's attachments you can see how people might feel a bit annoyed. Especially when they are fully aware of the importance of pros and content creators when it comes to visibility, spectators being former pros, reveals on content creator channels etc. The reasons for quitting aren't bad, bad return on investment, poor game balance. Especially when people are just asking that the very best be rewarded, if you are on that grind and just can't deliver that's not entirely their fault. Like any other sport that's when you have to hang it up. But like any other sport it should be that the best are rewarded in some was shape or form. I don't necessarily think konami should be paying your bills but it's clear from other games that companies have some ability keep the pros happy in some way (granted we can't expect 1 million dollars like some esports but still).
It's not unreasonable to ask for changes to the game. It's just hypocritical to keep playing the game and expecting things to change when Konami had been doing the same practice for a decade+ We'll have this topic come up again next year, don't worry
The konami nut glazing from nihilistic clowns goes harder than my dlck in these comments. Jesus yall might aswell just pay 20 dollars a pack with how much you wanna be up under Konami's nuts. It doesnt make you cool that youre grown ass adults that slobber on the dlck of a company that LITERALLY prints overpriced paper. This why none of yall get laid. Youre the type of dudes to quote Thomas Sowell to a woman when she "gets uppity" and call them female unironically.
........Despite the hilarity and hypocrisy of the Yu-Gi-Oh community, it is still manageable than dealing with modern western women these days. Truly a minus if you do
Kazuki Takahashi: "I don't want Yugioh player to be a job so I banning Konami from giving out cash prizes" "Pro" Yugioh players when they can't circumvent his wishes and make it a job anyways: Surprised Pikachu Face
Competitive play can be salvaged if the tournament players went all in for MasterDuel instead of spending $800 for a deck and $300 for plane ticket and $400 for a hotel. I truly believe that there is a serious degree of abusive spouse syndrome with the player base lol There are players that have the power to not give in to Konami and their ridiculous monetization and create something fun for the scene.
I just want best of 3 in master duel singles is trash but I still play cuz I love Yu-Gi-Oh not singles master duel. Can't cry about it cuz we ain't changing anything
My friends and i only attend 2 Y.C.S/Regionals Events a year. Hotel stay is simple when you plan ahead, gets us outta the State/city here and there. Its fun due to me Working so much.
Look the reality that people need to accept Is that ever since Konami came up with the idea of rush duels they stopped giving any sort of fucks about the master duel portion of the game. We can complain from now to new years and they won't listen, cause with the creator passed away & them making rush duels the most we getting from Konami is just the regular par core sets. If people wanna send a message so damn bad then stop playing and spending money on the cards
That's tough to do...The top Yu-Gi-Oh content creator's livelihoods are based on the game...then again I think people shouldn't care about other people's finances.
It's amazing that it took *this long* for people to realize that you can't make a career of spending $1000 on the best cards and more in travel to compete for a few hundred's worth of prize support. Either the best decks need to be cheap or Konami needs to improve prizing. You can only grind tournaments "for fun" for so long until life responsibilities catch up.
is more about Konami being greedy fucks by not giving good prizes on their events, seems like a constant on japanese corpos because Nintendo do the same with Smash Bros.
The yugioh community has had 1 problem across the board. HYPOCRISY Its one thing to say "i dont like this aspect" its another to be like "i hate that the game is so luck based" I would be less critical if "yes it was luck based but i had more control over decision making... rather than 1 card just beating me with no answers" But no. Its luck based NOW. Weve had this before. And people like me complained. Waited to see if things changed then left. But you didnt wanna complain now cause you were winning? At that point. Sleep in your bed. Then the other guy... he sucks too. DPYUGIOH already said why. You a yubel player. You complain about the card design, the negates, floodgates but play shit like that against people? AND STILL PLAY? When if you had principle youd just stop and make yourself an example? You want a yugioh revolution so bad... but don't wanna start yourself. Nope. Cant do that. Money and views is too strong. Its like the pokemon community. Truly nothing can happen cause noone wants to actually make a hard decision. You quit competetive yugioh. But will still give videoes... to a card game that dont give a shit about you. Its just stupid. Its why noone really cares about yugioh anymore... especially the content space. Wed rather male up drafts, new formats, talk about drama... rather than actually play the game. Its just that bad
As I said in the stream chat these pro players want this hobby of playing a TCG to be a job where they are paid with cash and acknowledged as great Yu-Gi-Oh players like "Look at me I won YCS Whatever and 100,000 dollars" They also don't want to lose to what they perceive as a lesser deck like Ancient Gear beating Fiendsmith Snake-Eye at this year's NAWCQ. It feels arrogant to me to bitch about a deck that you weren't prepared to face because not everybody has 1,000 plus dollars to build the best deck of any given Yu-Gi-Oh format.
