Hurricane Ian made its second US landfall on Friday, September 30, 2022 just south of Ocean Lakes Family Campground, at about Huntington Beach State Park. The storm surge forced several feet of water in the Ocean Lakes campground. It also left a lot of sand and debris, resulting in the first Halloweekend of 2022 to be canceled. We happened to have reservations for Halloweekend #2, so got to see first hand the efforts to clean up the park - or so we thought. By the time we arrived a week after landfall, most of the mess was cleaned up. There was still plenty to do to rebuild the dunes.
