Dr. Frances Hasso is amazing as always .. Followed all of her work and interviews. Thank you Nick for introducing such great guests and asking really great questions. Learned a lot from this!
From Africa, we're praying for the freedom of Leonard Peltier. We all learned a lot from him. He was illegaly extradited and charged on bogus evidence. All of Turtle Island, all of the world need to talk aboit his case! Free Peltier
Thank you Jen & Nick for this extraordinary teach-in. All my love and respect to Dr. Abdou from Cairo, Egypt. Very proud of him and going to read his work. Learning is always the first step. With great teachers who learn from their students too, everything is possible.
I'm a fan of your podcast. I am glad you are back. One thing I want to say, coming from the working class myself, I have seen that "we" in the Euro-American working class love settler colonialism. We have more often than not been the henchmen and henchwomen for the masters. That continues to be the problem.
It is 2024, this is still going on. Governments no longer have control, big corporations do. Greed and corruption are what rules this planet. I pray for everyone 🙏 ❤
Why am I suddenly getting inundated with Indian content? Suddenly my Facebook and RU-vid feeds are filled with this stuff... I suppose the Searcher's wasn't bad.
What irritates me is the knee-jerk reaction to defend the powers that be. We have a lot more in common with the Palestinians than the ruling class trying to decimate them.
The Red Nation has given me the language to understand the project of settler-colonialism and the analysis to develop my own perspective of the world around me.I am an island daughter of the diaspora and a three-quarter century year old crone. Your work continues to inspire and educate. Saina ma'ase.
Free Leonard Peltier! What an injustice. He should be with his people at his age and condition. Still screwing over the indigenous peoples after all these years… U S Government!
They really are "reactionary." They let their fears get to them before they listen. It's a sad consequence of our movements for liberation becoming more popular. The stronger we get, the more reactionary they become.
As a mega fan who was literally about to email someone to inquire about your health I’m so delighted to hear you two again 😊 it’s so rude you have to write a book for a settler institution while recovering from long Covid ❤
This is a POWERFUL episode. "Lean in to settler fear" and "Hope is revolutionary" are speaking to my condition. Thank you for sharing your personal reflections and experiences. I hope you both continue to heal and find wellness in community. (And longwindedness from revolutionaries is always welcome).
I believe that your statement is from a place of trauma, and your thoughts are influenced by male fragility, not by what they actually said. It is good for women to have pride in being women. Try re listening with the open-mindedness that women are at the bottom of the imperial core. That doesn't mean that men are any less it just means that we are affected in a different way. Children are always victims.
Imagine an alternate universe version of the "Avatar" movies where Jake Sully goes on to lead the Na'vi in a genocidal interstellar war that kills over 60 billion people and by the end everybody who cheered on his white savior narrative from the first movie feels sick to their stomachs for having done so. That's basically "Dune".
50:13 - You both deeply have me & my young Child / Son listening & agreeing 100% UNTIL you make Cis men & Cis boys feel as WE aren’t as committed to change and as if WE are just simply SHIT!! No mention of Immigrants as being Indigenous People either. Lots of respect for the Red Nation but / and… the bashing of ALL Men & Boys needs to change internally.
Radhika Desai is one of my most respected and admired theorists in the field of economics and geopolitics. What a treat to have her on the show. She, along with others such as Michael Hudson, Ben Norton and Steve Keen, are providing an invaluable challenge to the intellectual (if it can be so called) underpinnings of our failing western neo-liberal capitalist system.
New sub! Thanks for this content, Found you doing research on Turtle Island origin stories. I have Arawak/Taino ancestry. Do you have content that relates to those tribes?
Buffy was just an Italian/English girl growing up outside Boston in Wakefield MA not far from where I live today...with the family she was born and raised with. She had no interest in Native Americans until she attended UMASS and got involved with a native american group on campus...the rest as they say is history.
you always invite the best guests onto the show!! thank you for sharing your knowledge with us :) i really enjoy listening to the conversations that happen during the podcasts🫶
I can’t believe how terrible and gimmicky her music is. The only reason this lady had a career after her very early years, is because she pretended to be an indian. Bad song writing, a 10 year old could write most of this crap!!!
Also wanted to say, You Tube is heavily weighted towards white commentators' opinions about Israel/Palestine. I ignore the Mersheimers and even the Finkelseins nowadays. It's good to hear more indigenous perspectives. Thank you.
270 000 0000 deaths under Muslim expansionism throughout their history says different. And he comes from the country that suffered the brunt of that assault in India. Shameful that he supports Palestine protest today. Not a true Indian.
The RedNation leads the way in discussion about colonialism and the realities that roll out because of it and US imperialism - much thanks to Nick and his team/staff
Where to begin!? First, the films were beautifully made reactionary trash. It does not even begin to try to do the book. Which is a beautiful reactionary masterpiece. Compellingly written and profoundly articulated. The vision and complexity of which seems to be impossible to translate to other media. Actually enough said.
