Nice KG. I still have mine, a 66 which I have had for thirty years? Bought for a song but it has rust issues in floor pan. Is your side mirror period correct? I just learned about low-light KG today, after reading about said term on Bring a Trailer.
I was 12 when this was made, and it just looked way more zoot/sporty than the std versions; and I thought those wheel covers looked the bling back in the day !!
I had a Riley Kestrel in the 70s .......twin SU carbs ...a great car to drive . Took one from the UK down to the Pyrenees. No trouble at all there and back . The bodywork let it down at the end ......fond memories. DAVE H.
Very nice, back in the 70’s l had the yellow 1300 GT, SEE 123H, family got bigger so traded for a Maxi, another great car l loved, 50 years later l treated myself to a Austin 1300 Vanden Plas, WEE 212K.
I had one of these from new in 1972, same colour body and interior, probably the best car I have ever bought, you summed it up beautifully about the charms of this little car, I hope you keep it for a long time and love it to bits 💜
Its so bullshit. She bought it as an art piece which means it will stay in an art gallery forever and nwver be driven which is so sad. Its also got everything to do with how much its worth.
To be fair...if I bought it I wouldn't drive it either. It's an investment for smart rich people. Poor people can't afford these cars so it doesn't matter what they think.
Oh man this guy is an Aussie too! Didnt know about Rockford Files until recently. Cool to know it aired down-under. Anyone know where you can watch episodes?
Also, the same year and model as mine. I fell in love with E Types when I saw my first one at the New York Auto Show in 1962. I was able to purchase my car in 1992 and spent the next 6 years restoring it to British Racing Green with a biscuit interior.(my daughters color choices). During the past 3 years, I did a complete engine and gearbox rebuild. I replaced the Strombergs with triple SUs and installed a 3.07 rear drive. Over the I have been honored to receive several best of show awards. I'm now 79 but still enjoy driving this wonderful automobile on a sunny day,
Had four of them and loved them all. Very underrated car and beat the Mini hands down. Wife passed her test in it and the kids loved them. Just a real fun car.
Hi Andy, this is my favorite Karmann Ghia vid! And as you said - the smell, the sound, the design - same I feel driving my 67 cab. Best for me - washing that body by hand!
