Thanks so much for sharing this. I had no idea such a project existed or was even possible. With a standard user level relationship with After Effects, this is way over my head. I would love to see real word performance comparisons with various types of comps / effects, to see how useful this could be on M1 Ultra. As it is, I would probably break my workhorse system if I tried this, so I will just watch and admire.
It's going to overall increase your performance on all systems, depending on what you're calculating. Things like blurs and convolutions are a few examples of something that benefits extremely well from the GPU
Your videos are just pure gold! I was wondering what's the difference between aerender and afterfx? Both command lines, both being able to render a bit confusing..
I suppose that would depend on your system. But if you can divert some of your heavier processing to the GPU, that will leave your CPU open and probably an overall performance increase!
