33 probably because 3 is still with Tierney. Could switch to 3 if Tierney is sold, but unlikely if loaned out out of respect, even if the rules allow the club to. I hope Odegaard gets the 10 as soon as Smith Rowe moves to Fulham.
This is a boring signing...we've seen this same signing multiple times under Arteta...the ball playing centre back that can play full back...this is Juriean timbre, Kivior, Zinchenko, etc
He’s a left back. So would be associated with the number 3. However Tierney has number 3 atm. Calafiori wore 33 at Bologna for pretty much same reason. I would fully expect him to get 3 once Tierney fs off
I think non Arsenal fans have to realize that saliba cannot play every single minute of premier league football again this season. Timber is coming back from being out all last season with a cruciate ligament injury. Tomi fitness issues. Gabriel needing competition at LCB. This was much needed. He’s an elite reader of the game and will give us something different in buildup, his ability to carry the ball and progress play. Something different and a different way to play.
Thank you Lawrence. People that say that we just copy City do not watch us. Yes we play very similar football but Arteta is intelligent enough to make his own decisions and focus on aspects of the game in a very different way from how Pep does. Some of our patterns of play and football is not as rigid robotic as City but Arteta does not have all the players yet to be more flavorful with his football.
Calafiori is in case Timber can’t kick on through. Those types of injury can call time on top top level careers and even though it might not finish Timber, I’m suggesting Arteta is already thinking there’s a chance he might never now be the player Arteta hoped he might be. This all sounds really harsh. But that is a vicious injury and I’m suggesting Arteta is already thinking there’s a chance Timber might not kick in through here no matter how hard he tries. I’m not saying he’s done, I’m saying there’s a chance he might be and so Arteta is already saying ‘we can’t give another 1-2 seasons just to see if Timber can put it behind him’, he’s already thinking ahead if the poor fella can’t properly recover.
Just admit you're a Gooner Loz! Liverpool can be your favourite Mersey side, but Arsenal are clearly your team - I can tell from that glint in your eyes :D
I want to give a shout out to Laurence. His analysis when talking about players is impeccable. He's probably the best at it. I enjoy listening to his opinions. Not just arsenal but anyone. keep it going mate. You should be on sky sports or talksport. Your better at it than the ex players.
I mean I obvs agree abt arsenals L being a problem, bt u already who timber who was brought in to do this stuff. I thought ur most important hire was a press resistant, passing CM and Merino is not that, he’s like a cheaper Connor Gallagher. And I thought u needed an international standard Lw, someone super rapid and direct to provide a good counterbalance to saka. No sign of either of those two. Guess if arsenal get all 3 it will b the perfect window tho!
How times have changed from the days of Mustafi, Kolasinac and Lichtsteiner. Finished the season with the best defence in the league and still looking to improve and enhance it even more which is great to see. Really like the fact we now have strength in depth right across the back line with players who can comfortably play both flanks and more options to invert also.
Having those tanks in defence will also improve the other defenders as well. Having Kiwior, Tomi etc for cup games and rotation will do them well in the back half of the season. Good times ahead. COYG !!!
Agreed. The shift in the core mentality of Arsenal is wild. We have 2nd best team in the league, and we're actively improving it. Trying to, at least. 5-6 years ago would have been about shipping best players and trying to fill the gaps and just barely stay relevant. I would tie Arteta to a 10 years contract right now.
Ah I just wish you and Brian could make peace and get the pods back up and running .. never found another pod with the chemistry you guys had 😢 miss u bro ❤
I love you Laurence and you Arsenal opinions are very grounded. Calafiori has long hair and has aura. You don't have long hair now, so now you have no aura.
might be late, but the title says it all, remember the clip from liverpoll lose the 2022 cl final, when trent saw real madrid lift the cup, the eyes are not only tears but of anger, not anger towards real madrid but towards losing itself, that shows that his mindset is to win win win, but after that the new season starts got knocked out again by real madrid and then go to uel, and then got knocked out of uel, then klopp leaves, now his anger is concentrated towards the institution of liverpool, because remember even ni the epl, they lose the title by small margins against city, as fans we can go by clapping the efforts, but deep down we know its all for nothing, 2nd place are just not good enough, especially for the players themselves, especially for people who wanted to win. and still the instituion of liverpool reamins the same no vision no ambition, no nothing
Great video as usual Laurence. It’ll be interesting to see if Trent becomes a major part of a new look Liverpool in the coming years or the start of a small exodus of experienced winners that causes a decline from the team we have been used too under Klopp. Hope you and your family are well Laurence 🙏🏽
I wouldnt blame Trent if he went, as hard as it is to admit, Liverpool has a ceiling that we will never break under the current ownership. he's won everything with us , so we should give him a little bit of grace with this situation.
Trent is the type of player that I can see wanting to play for Madrid. He could handle THAT pressure...but i don't think he's finished at Liverpool yet in his own mind. Still needs one more thing (c)
Im fairly shocked at the decision, im fairly certain England and Southgate was going down that Ole/Jose and Man United route (stay till its really toxic).. i respect Southgate to go out instead of making it toxic for everyone..
Great content Laurence, an actual breathe of fresh air from the "repetitive" click-bait football content. I feel like you've got more freedom to better articulate your argument then on The KickOff
Real madrid represents glory and Triumph only an elite group can excess to ,Real Madrid represents simplicity, the aim of the sport is to win and to entertain , a boring game is rare, the fans expect you to perform every time , only few people can escape the critism ,I only recall modric when he missed a penalty and played shit in some games last season. It's the absolute challenge.
Yeah because winning the Bundesliga is going to give Harry Kane such satisfaction and a legacy. I'm sure winning the Champions' League and the farmer's league that is the La Liga with the first club to reach a billion dollars in revenue is going to give Trent the same satisfaction and legacy too.
Just wanna say love your videos and analysis, always interesting, I definitely get your points...if Trent leaves I don't think it would be out of disrespect to Liverpool, although I imagine it wouldn't be taken kindly obviously
I think the big pull he will play with elite players big names that are proven on the other hand will he become a small cog in a big wheel where in Liverpool you get to have a legacy . Some how if he fits Slots vision and there is a place for Trent in it I some how see him at Liverpool.
No. Gerrard was the best player he could possibly ever be at Liverpool. Anywhere else, he would have found, (previous comment), they’re all just as good as me! He wasn’t an over-rated player but he wouldn’t have found new dimensions at say Real Madrid. He instead would have found his limitations. In any English player these limitations are strictly marked out at quite an early age.
