While playing the game, Composer Olivier Deriviere is sharing his experience with Asobo and explaining all the meaning behind the music. You will discover many secrets and realize that every bit of music is meaningful. Merci!
I cannot thank you enough Mr. Olivier. Having a composer sharing his thoughts on music he made for a game is very rare and we all should be grateful. I hope you win the Game Award in December!
I knew the island section was gonna be heartbreak all over again but damn. That cut to no music when Hugo realises his dream was... just a dream, I teared up all over again. It ties in to what Sophia is gonna say soon about how she stopped being a child the day a dream meant everything to her. You did such a good job on this.
Despite of the great video and content this Is, i just wanted to thank u. My father just passdd away, he was a musician as I am. And i just get to chapter 9 of the game. I hear the music and Start to cry. That choir t's an amazing piece of music and i really need to have it to myself
7:30: Can we get the Chiptunes version of Plague Tale :D A lot delusions in this game. They almost stack on top of each other. The Cult's beliefs are easy to throw aside as wrong. But then you have Hugo believing in the dream The Macula sent to him. That one is tougher to get rid of, but Hugo is a child so it's still palatable to the audience that he doesn't see the reality. The hardest one though is Amicia. We play as her, which connects us to her and her delusions are the easiest to believe. That there is a way to save Hugo, whatever that is. It's interesting that we hear "Brother" a couple of times in this chapter as Hugo has his dose of reality. The same music that will be playing when Amicia has to face reality also at the end of the game.
Watching these videos is like emotional torture for me, it's really amazing that Olivier is sharing his amazing work with us, but at the same time it's so heartbreaking. I found myself in tears again by the end of this video... I try so hard not to cry, but this games story and music are so powerful it gets me every time 🥲
Finished my second playtrough today and i think i'v cried even more than the first time, especially at this moment at 14:55 and 18:52 with the melody of "Brother" that prepares you for the last chapter. i still cannot listen to it now without having tears in my eyes and this feeling is just so nice honestly. It's crazy how doing the game again with all the details that you shared so far make it so different. Also i think voices are one of the Best "music instruments in A plague Tale especially for the last few chapters, so beautiful !
I've finished the game a week ago, and I still cannot listen to Brother without crying... I want to play again but, now I know the end and I know more about characters thoughts thanks to Olivier, I'm afraid to cry all along the game with this incredible OST, and reading that you cry much more the second time, I think I will wait some weeks before play again 😋
Thank you for making the best soundtrack of the year. Also, thank you for this commentary. I think all game composers should do this here on out. Props to the medieval bagpipes, viola da gamba, and string bass in the soundtrack. (I play classical stand up bass and my mom teaches viola da Gamba and baroque bagpipes (which are similar to medieval bagpipes)) I hope you win game of the year and other industry awards for this game. No one in the video game industry makes John Tavener style soundtracks. I think what you did for Requiem is groundbreaking for the medium, and video game soundtracks are going to be better for it. Can't wait for what the future holds for you. Sorry about the long text. Merci!
Thank you so much for this walkthrough. Its amazing how much love and care has been put into this game. If you and Charlotte don't win the performance and OST awards in december, there is something seriously wrong with this industry.
wow! I accidentally stumbled upon this video and its concept seemed very cool to me! The composer talks about the music right during the game! Going to watch from episode 1. Thank you for such awesome music for such awesome game! Already voted for the game and soundtrack on TGA 2022!❤
It was Amazing walkthrough as always! I was tearing up 18:53 in that scene 😥 it was sad, that Hugo disappointed and scared and the Violin music came in that scene was soo beautiful ❤ and emotional too...I am looking forward to your upcoming Composer Walkthrough...it's gonna be soo hard to watch 😢😢
Thank you for this walktrough Olivier! I absolutely love the scene when Hugo realize that the water in fact isn't magic and that it won't heal him. That his dream wasn't true. Such sublime storytelling. So well done. This walktrough shines a light on how important of a part the music plays during these moments of storytelling. It's apparent that there is so much thought behind every little bit of storytelling in this game, both the writing and the music! Thanks again and good luck during the game awards!
I think this chapter is one of the best, both in narration but also in music, so much happened, hugo lost his dream and with that a shift in the music mood and a lot more... Quite a masterpiece you made there.
14:55 this guitar bit so amazing! What are the chords if I want to play it? Thanks again for the video, to bit quiet honest (not to be mean sorry for that) the ominous voices on this chapter annoyed me after a certain point. PS: would happen to make another live concert of "a plague tale" in the future (notably in Lyon)?
