You know it’s the worst when this was my first smash game, I haven’t even played brawl (yet don’t kill me, I’ll get to it eventually), and I still think sm4sh sucks ass.

I actually enjoyed smash tour, but I agree with your criticisms. It feels very half baked. More boards with interesting themes and better customization options would have gone a long way.
The two things that give Smash 4 Identity-Smash Run and Master Core Seriously, There is so much potential with Master Core, He's basically Smash's Gigas in that there is no idea what Master Core is, what he represents, or where he came from.
I'm pretty sure the next smash bros will simply be bigger and have more characters than ultimate. All this "oh ultimate is too big we cant do it again" is just part of the marketing.
Great video. I been making a game on my 3ds with rpg maker fes and I used a hub world. It's better in my opinion than a open world game not to say I dont like those games I do. Lots of games inspired my game and one of is Super Mario 64. You cant beat hub worlds.
Worth noting that Nintendo now has their own film studio called Nintendo Pictures after they purchased Dynamo Pictures a couple years ago (the guys who made the Pikmin shorts). I assume Nintendo did this to consolidate a studio for game cutscenes, but it would be really cool if Nintendo managed to develop feature films in-house. They have the money and talent for the animation. As for the script, get some writers from Intelligent Systems, HAL & Sakura, or even the Splatoon guys, Hisashi Nogami and Shintaro Sato. They all know how to write really well done PG stories.
i just want an actual story mode that’s set in actual nintendo worlds with actual cutscenes, and not just a worse event mode. edit: no mega man but still simon and pit? the SMTV protag pretty much stole rock’s spot for no good reason, but then again i’d also cut pyra&mythra for a redesign of captain n: the game master like how pit was in brawl, so who am i to judge?
personally, my dream adventure mode is melee’s platforming stages through actual nintendo worlds, with an actual story with cutscenes in between levels like subspace, albiet at a smaller scale.
I feel like “Insulting” is still a strong word. Whether anyone believes it or not, the games made after ttyd do have interesting ideas, likeable characters, a great aesthetic and emotional moments. I’d go as far as to say Origami King is my favourite as it leans furthest into the paper aesthetic and it has a lot of charm. I also like Super Paper Mario for its distinct style and over the top story.
This game was great on the 3DS. I can't lie, I was amazingly impressed that they managed to make the game handle as good as it did. It's a shame that the online wasn't that good during the time
I'm sorry but world of sucks ass is overrated and i wish this mode neverd existed I've also deleted the save screw world of light if you like it your a idiot
I feel like this is a you problem and not a problem with the mode. Like, at one point in the video you talk fast to make it seems like there is a lot in the mode, but what you are describing is very simple. Move around the board and if you run into someone a battle starts. Thats not hard to understand. I can sympathize with the amount of info, but its something you get after a few rounds. If there is one sin Smash Tour has, it's moving too fast which I think turned people off on a fun mode (better than WoL but most modes are better than WoL). The reason I say its a you problem because if the footage is all yours, you should have understood what to do. It's very easy to plan a turn since what you are going for is very obvious. Got to towers, pick up items on the way. The difficulty is in there being a lot but this comes with time. If you didn't like it, fine. Can't change your opinion. But I think some of these criticism wont apply to people who played it more than once or twice.
I think this video is very telling WHY World of Light is so awful. What is the praise for this mode? It has a sense of adventure?? It’s map you walk on. It has a bunch of references?? The problem with the mode is it isn’t fun to play. Like, consider the finale. You go one about how the hands are prisoners or something, but the way you play the last map is just beat everything and then you get the good ending. The reason anyone liked the ending was the Master Hand Battle. The issue is that Smash is a game first and the game here is boring and repetitive. Watch Zero’s video again. He talked exclusively about gameplay. There are only three cutscenes in the game and only one is voiced. It’s a nothing burger. We just need to accept the mode is bad.
Honestly, most of these criticisms of Smash 4 are worse in Ultimate. Like, Smash 4 actually has modes unlike Ultimate. Also “it’s too random” makes no sense. Do you not get why rouge likes are popular. It being the same every time makes it boring. This is why Ultimate’s Classic fails because it is the same every time. You play it once and never again. Being random helps replayability. Praising Spirits at all is insane to me. Trophies, even if being model ripe, are better than PNGs ripped from Google. The customization one is a bit silly. Outside of some of the oddities like more wind boxes, this kind of feature was never going to be that in depth because Smash 4 had 48 characters. They were going to overlap or be basic a lot of the time. Also, showing World of Light as an example of good single player has me question your sanity. Imagine bitching about Smash 4’s modes when that abomination exist. It is an “illusion” of an Adventure mode
I'm sorry, but Smash 4 for 3ds and wii u is not the worst in the series. I'm sorry, but I got the 3ds and smash 4 on xmas. Yes, I argee that maybe the collectable and a little of the mode aren't as good, but the heart of smash has always been the multi-player and regular fighting mode. The fact that you complain about this, I wonder what would happen if they made a smash 6, and then you would go hate smash ultimate. Overall I will respectfully disagree with your opinion
Insane that they chalk up making these boring and bland changes to appealing to children and casual fans when I was both a child AND a stranger to Mario games when I fell in love with Paper Mario 64. I watched a playthrough online when I was a kid and loved it. My first Paper Mario game I ever got to play myself was Super and despite the changes to the gameplay, the story and world had me invested in the game like almost no other. I know I don't represent every player but story is a BIG part of why I play games, so softening down the edges and making it dull is such a massive mistake imo. I bought Origami King because I was told it was a return to form, and I absolutely hated it. I TRIED to like it. I wanted to enjoy it! I bought it digitally so there was no way to refund or exchange it for another game. But I hated the gameplay, and ended up avoiding battles since they only gave coins and felt like a waste of time. I was not invested in the story, it was too boring, and any time I tried to get interested in it, it was disappointing. I know it's been said a lot, but a bob-omb dying from an explosion?? I'm supposed to feel something about that?? I've never felt so disconnected from a game before. Me and my younger sister were sitting and laughing at the scene where you have to try and comfort Olivia while she's grieving the bob-omb. And I even liked his character! It's just such a stupid way to kill him off. His sacrifice meant nothing to me, when I wish it did. I really wish they'd found a better way to make his death mean something. And for God's sake the bosses should have been different. I don't care how many kids say they love the office supplies coz there dialogue is good or whatever; I can't take them seriously! They're just pencils and tape! I don't hate or love them, I just feel nothing as I defeat them. Someday I'd like to go back and finish the game. I lost interest and motivation after the bob-omb died. But I just keep feeling like I'll only be wasting my time.
every smash games had more characters , people who think smash x with tiny roster will happen are crazy. Most sells would be lost if this happen. Specially after Ultimate
I am currently enjoying a brainrot session of Super Smash Bros. Melee. While I personally prefer 3DS/Wii U the most, Melee still holds up well. Lots of fun modes exist in SSBM, but Adventure is by far my favorite. Ever since first seeing it in 2004, I was enamored by the setup; going in sidescrolling stages based directly on the fighter universes is fantastic! There are also some typical VS. battles peppered in to keep things fun. You hit the nail on the head with replayability. 20 minutes is just long enough to enjoy several runs of Adventure again and again. This is something that I feel future adventure modes fall short. Sure, the idea of telling a story is nice, but frankly I find the major appeal of Smash is how it's best at being dumb fun with a loose narrative. I imagine that might stir up some disagreement...🤔 But no, the replay value is fantastic. The closest thing to reliving that level of fun in a later Smash campaign is Smash Run on the 3DS. I can't begin to tell you how many hours I sunk into Adventure in Melee.
Weirdly enough, even in mario Odyssey and the movie, the limitations for specifically Toads still seem to be there. The IP team seems to be obsessed with the idea of Toads being somehow gender- and ageless clones that aren't allowed to dress in multiple colors or grow out mustaches.
I totally agree with you because Smash for 3DS is like a completely new game while Smash for Wii U is just the dumbed down version of Smash 64 but both of them still suck.
Another thing that irritated me about the collectibles was how the loot system worked. Depending on the mode you play, if you lose even ONCE, you randomly lose some of your stuff (and you could continue, but at the risk that you'll lose even more should you lose again). This is especially irritating when you got that last damn Mii hat you needed to collect, while also having 3 doubles of that custom move you already collected...... oh boy, I wonder which one's gonna get shuttered off as soon as I get a Game Over (hint: it's not the one I have literally no use for...... in all seriousness, they should've at the very least made those stupid doubles act as a guaranteed buffer against this crap, but alas). Also, you never really touched on the Challenges..... I mean, they're a bit of a subset of the collectibles, which you did cover, but I'd say they're still a bit of a topic in themselves, especially since completing them is probably the only substantial thing to strive for in Smash for WiiU's god-awful single-player offering........ and even they suck. I mean, putting aside how absolutely insane the top row is (seriously, they manage to make Brawl's Intense Boss Battles challenge look like a cakewalk, and some of them call for you to practically main specific characters like Lucina), quite a few of the challenges are just tedious as hell. I mean, I don't mind completing a mode on the highest difficulty. I don't mind completing a mode at least once using every character (even when the roster had ballooned to around 50 characters by this point in the series, plus it's something you'd need to do to get their trophies anyway). But doing a mode like All-Star on Hard or Classic on 7.0 with every character? Yeah, screw off with that. I guess the one silver lining to a lot of this is that not every challenge is gatekeeping a Trophy or something, least of all most of the top row (they typically just give out a cash prize, or a specific badge that, while not the most common, could just spawn randomly). Still, completing them does give an amusing photo, plus the general satisfaction some people may have from being able to 100% a game (though granted, some people's idea of "completion" may vary, especially when there's a Milestone that calls for literally 1 million matches).
