I love roller skating and wish I had the confidence to go out on my own without feeling self conscious. Thank you for sharing your stories and good luck with the Skate Sanctuary 🛼 xxx
I do spend a lot of time walking around to find places that feel safe but are a bit quieter and have a nice enough surface. Then headphones and sunglasses will block out most people from your brain! Give yourself three songs to be outside for and then decide if youre having a nice time or not. You don't have to be out for long, but like everything, we can build up skating outside over time x
I've not drank alcohol for years now. I don't miss it at all. I much prefer skating to drinking. I don't like the drink culture either. And you do have to consider the insurance/safety side if it, if you've got a lot of people skating and drinking that's accidents waiting to happen.
Loved this video. It must be a joy to see customers eyes light up with bliss when they find their perfect boot. I love my Lolly boots and always get comments from people. They are exquisitely comfortable. To the point now that I'm hovering over whether to get another pair for outdoors!!! But yes, first entry boots were cheap 'internet' ones until I knew that I was fully invested - which took me a year and a half!!!
It really is such a privilege for folks to let us in to their skate journey. It's also totally normal for skate decisions to take months or years - it's a lot of money to spend. Glad to hear your Lolly boots are serving you well x
I like this, I always think it’s helpful for new people to have some more info about products or services from an actual skate shop, especially as I was clueless before I bought skates as an adult.
1. Slowly and thoroughly. You need to work on the correct movement and technique to build the muscle memory. 2. To music of different speed or at speed (depending on if it's choreography or a rhythmic combination). 3. Focus on the feeling 4. Keep it bouncy 5. Work on looking somewhere that isn't your feet! 6. Keep playing with the movement until you find your flow - dance is a creative style and you can tell whatever story you want.

I was in the process of swapping in new cushions. I had just gotten off the first 2 cushions on 1 of my trucks. Those were stubborn and hard cushions to remove off my old skate that had been in the closet for quite a while. Then I found this helpful video. I used your tip of using bearing oil to make putting on the cylinder cushion easier. Damn that made it quick and easy. Then I thought what if I use the bearing oil to assist with removing the next set of stubborn, old cushions. Heck yeah! Those came off so much quicker and easier. Thank you.
