Are Protective Pads for Skating Worth It? 

Buying any kit is a minefield as a new or beginner skaters. You can't know what you don't know!

Generally - you don't need to spend a lot of money, but it IS worth it in our opinion. Falling hurts. Once you trust your pads (you will need to practise falling over) your body will relax and actually make falling LESS likely.
