“The Humpty Dance is your chance to do the Hump” You man. Thanks for the video. I just picked up a 93 and, as I am known to do, I hit up RU-vid to dive in on knowledge. This series is so helpful. All the stuff I wanted to do. I still don’t know for sure if I have at super charger. I’m doing the full tune up this weekend and I’m about to order the SAD replacement parts. Really wish I could learn more about balancing it on RU-vid but I might have to do some actual reading. Mine runs great til I turn on the A/C. I’m afraid of what might happen if it fails. This series is the best of what’s on RU-vid. Thanks for sharing.

Funny enough I saw your video come up on my recommended and I was actually going to buy that exact Previa but it was a little too far for me to trailer it back to El Paso so I let it go but I'm glad it went to a great home! I've had many many Previas and they're the best old minivan you can buy in my opinion, a little difficult to work on for some but the reliability is unbeatable. Although I don't recommend a supercharged one like mine because the roots supercharger makes them far more irritable than a naturally aspirated one, I like my regular Previa much more. Good luck on your Previa restoration if you need any kind of obscure info you can leave a comment (because I read all my comments) or email my business email (apapanos@yahoo.com) and I'll respond. I'll be watching to see the progress!

When I was looking for a car a few years back I had settled on one of these model vehicles as the 1.4 cu inch is very dependable but the person who had it advertised on Craigslist never answered their e-mails. So I settled for a 2011 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. It's a much more fun car.

@@emansfveranot this model of lexus. The LS is the winner bit expensive & sucks on gas. [same engine era as camrys] The 3rd gen es300 was better than the 250 but their 1mz-fe engines were mid-low quality. It overheats & sludges up too quickly and needs oil change every 3-4k miles. It leaks oil too and repairing it is impossible like the 2gr-fe toyota engine, you would have to replace the entire engine with another one from junk. The 00-01 years have bad transmissions and they don't age too well. I had one before. The radiator & hose kept blowing up every few years. This car right now is just too old to be reliable today. It will last less than 1 year if you picked up a used one (you will notice problems within the 1st month). The es300 ends at 2003, es330 had the better engine, but all of lexus engines up until the 2020s i think has t-belts & interference engines, so watch out! I would avoid any cars older than mid 2000s.

I have a 2009 Vibe with the 1.8 engine. On truly cold starts (like the car has sat overnight) the car will start right up - no problems. If it has only been sitting an hour or two though, the car will struggle to start. I don't have to keep cranking, but it will stumble and falter until it really catches, and then will smooth out and behave normally. During that stumble and struggle I will hear the VVTI gear rattle just very briefly. On normal starts I do not hear it at all. Possible suspects: 1) dirty throttle body 2) Mass Air Filter sensor 3) fuel pump 4) VVTI gear 5) Spark plugs / coils 6) clogged fuel injectors. Any other ideas? I'd appreciate anyone's opinion and advice on how to diagnose for certain.
@jimmyjimjims7483
@jimmyjimjims7483 2 месяца назад
That gen of 1.8L ALL rattle a little so I'm not too concerned about that. The big hint is that it only does it after heat soaking and not on a cold start so you can eliminate the throttle body as a suspect. I doubt a plug or coil would produce a symptom like that or you'd get a misfire of some sort. My guesses would be a failing fuel pump, a dying coolant temp sensor, or a wonky MAF sensor. I've also seen a failing cam/crank sensor cause that issue in vehicles that use the 1.8L, some forums I used to go on swear the starter is the issue because it heat soaks and then bendix gets stuck causing a hard-start but you say it stumbles so I wouldn't go with that one in this case
@StromBugSlayer
@StromBugSlayer 2 месяца назад
@@jimmyjimjims7483 Yes, no misfires and it always cranks ok. I'll try cleaning the MAF and see if that changes anything. How do I test for the fuel pump? Is there any other symptom of the dying coolant temp sensor?
@jimmyjimjims7483
@jimmyjimjims7483 2 месяца назад
@@StromBugSlayer There's no real test for the fuel pump other than getting a fuel pressure tester and screwing it into the fuel rail to see if your fuel pressure is bleeding off when the car is warm vs when its cold. If the pump is going bad you'll have low fuel pressure when the car is warm or your fuel pressure will slowly drop off instead of staying steady. If you had a bad fuel injector that was dripping overnight it would dump fuel into the oil therefore your oil would smell like gas and be thinner but that would make it hard to start when cold not when hot so that's why I don't think its an injector. A dying coolant temp sensor is usually only diagnosed with an OBD2 scanner because you need it to read the temp from the ECM while cold and while slightly warm/hot. If the MAF is what is causing it one way to test it is unplug the MAF (with the car off and then start the car) and see if the car improves at all, the car's ECM will see that the MAF is unplugged and default to a base setting to keep fuel trims "normal". This will however trigger a check engine light so you'd have to have an OBD2 scanner to turn the light off. I'd clean the MAF first (because that's the easiest thing to do) and see if that improves it. If you don't have access to an OBD2 scanner its usually best to just take the car to have it diagnosed so they can deal with all that nonsense lol
