So, I'm likely never to run in any of these shoes and have almost no interest in the brand... but I watched this entire video and was enthralled with the wit, stayed for the laughs and enjoyed the new "sit cut" ShoeTuber meta... taking on Aubrey's "slap change" meta...
Arrived a bit later to the party , quality content, nice assesment of their current range (from your view ) looks like there are possibly cross over's in the range , so would you say you could possibly have more then one rotation from their current family of shoes.?
I stopped caring about these shoes around 3 min. All I need to say is it’s a crime that you don’t have 1 million subs… absolutely love the sit downs… absolutely love your content! Anyway, back to the video…
Great interview Andrew! You were well prepared and asked great questions and most importantly let him answer. So many youtube interviews dont do either of those two things. Congrats on your fitness. Not taking credit but i was one of your subs that kept wanting to see you do speed work and go for a summertime goal. Its cool to see it working. On second thought im taking alllll the credit 😂😂😂😂. Jk obviously but really looking forward to your MC Marathon. I was going to try and be there for it (to run and maybe organize a midlife run group meetup lol) but stuck overseas so ill be checking strava for it!
@MidLifeRunner hahaha, I mean maybe I'm in the minority but on earbuds it's distracting from your monolog. But yeah I think in this I think it'd be addition by subtraction 🤔🫡
Interesting but how many miles do you run per week now compared to when you started? cause i think it's not just running easy but it's more about total milage, plus consistency , quantity but you need quality too.. and i bet you did speed work too to run a HF in 83 minutes
Yes. When I started, in those first 2 months I ran about 60 miles a week for 3-4 weeks as the most mileage. The pace was around 9-10 minutes a mile. My HM went from 1:47:30ish down to a 1:39:58 with no speed work. I then did a half marathon Hanson plan and ran a 1:34:39. I returned to MAF and my easy pace went down to 8:17 from that 9ish. For the HM PR, I hired a coach and did a speed block. MAF recommends the periodized approach of aerobic volume at low HR and then work in the speed to work those systems and to get better at running faster. I think at a certain point, the volume lever is going to run out. A runner is going to need to run fast to get faster and then all those MAF or easy aerobic miles will help sustain the faster paces deeper into the race.
I got my BQ at 48 on my second marathon. It didn’t take years. I needed a 3:50 and ran a 3:27. My first marathon (I didn’t train properly) was 5:21. It is different for everyone. Someone told me I couldn’t BQ on my second marathon at 48. They said I was too old. Me: hold my Gatorade. lol. Many train for years to BQ, I only wanted to attempt to qualify one time. I ran Boston in. 2022 and 2023. I’m 51 now. I don’t ever have to run it again. I don’t love the marathon distance. I prefer half marathons and 5K’s. I glad I had a 22+ minute cushion. I believe I have a sub 3:15 in me. I care more about getting faster than qualifying for Boston. I hate the Boston course. I love race weekend though. I qualified for Berlin in 2024 but won’t run it because I’m injured but I’m still going to cheer for friends. I am still glad I qualified for Berlin, Boston, Chicago and NYC. Happy running over 40!
Don't get tied up in comparisons, enjoy where you are in the moment. And don't discount the impact of aging, while gaining fitness as you age is still easy enough....it's the recovery that is a WHOLE new game in itself. I pay for a coach....not for fitness, but for keeping me healthy so I can continue to stack training block after training block.
I averaged 37 miles (60k) in the 7 weeks leading up to the race (not including race week). Almost no cross training as well (3 easy bike rides). Before that I was on holidays for three weeks with even less running. If you have the aerobic capacity and can get a lot out of your workouts this can work for a lot of people I think. I often only had one big session during the week but that often featured around 10k at faster than race pace (3x3, 4x3, 6x1,6 etc.). What I did not do was just collecting junk miles by doing random double sessions to bulk up weekly mileage. I'd rather rest and get ready for the next workout.
I like 9.32 miles (15km) diagnostic run as a good predictor 2-3 weeks from marathon… you can put your time for 15km in VDot2 calculator and it’ll give you your estimated marathon pace…
yeah race predictors always too generous for me. I'm sure some people have nailed it but I've never been able to. not even close. I'm looking at you garmin.......
Great stream of consciousness video! I'd be down for a Wednesday or Friday livestream. Either a mid week chat or a Friday "what's everyone got going on this weekend" would be cool. It would be nice to interact with other fans of the channel/mid-life runners as well.
I usually have Wednesday off so that would be most likely ideal, though it would have to be 12pm to 1pm so I have time to go get the kids. I just need to do a little research on how to live stream (platforms). I’m sure it’s not too difficult to figure out. Even if it’s just 10 of us in there, it’s still a party
Definitely not alone on that idea Andrew!! Health is my main priority. But i do have to say. From all my years from playing basketball, my competitive side just got switched to ON. Boston wants to make it “harder” to qualify at my age. Challenge accepted 😤😤😤😁😁. Oh 😮 are you really doing a LS. Count me in 🙋🏻♂️
@@colekim9944 🤣 his older brother showing him the way. Minecraft. Roblox. A hint of Fort Nite but more in a creative spirit/exploring and not shooting.
Wish my kids would eat bean and cheese burritos. Pickiest eaters ever! Also won't eat mac & cheese. What did we do wrong!?!? Great stream of consciousness video, I'm here for it.
@@SantaCruzRunner ☠️ my youngest is picky . Just the tortilla, not the beans or cheese. Mac n cheese ? It’s too cheesy 🤣 the other two will eat anything
Dude. Great video, much needed on all fronts. Aside from being a tad peeved with the recent BAA change…I think it’s a good mindset to have. You gotta find a place of enjoying the process, enjoying the training. Race day(s) gonna be what they be! A true BQ is achieved over many years and races -no matter what. Especially for us midlifers!
Andrew, I look forward to meeting you in Boston. I like your attitude, but at the same time, age grading is legit, so get psyched about it. My birthday is in June so that last yr of each AG makes it somewhat arbitrary; that’s just how it goes. I hope to do Berlin too as I finally have a good for age entry there. Are you planning on Berlin?
@@levandmarthapolyakin-aaron2183 if I run under 2:55 in MCM or in Boston, I can submit for 2026 because the submission window for 2025 is early October I think. And McM is late October
@@MidLifeRunneryeah, the Berlin window lets you submit up to 3 yrs prior, so my 4:17 time in ‘23 is under Berlin's “60 and over” GFA guaranteed entry 🎉
Too bad about the Endo Pro3’s. I ended up returning v4 and stocking up on a couple of late manufactured date 3's on sale (the last colorway) for CIM and Boston. I had my PR in them and while I know there were multiple factors they just seemed to agree with my mechanics better than the 4's.
The supwell app is a well needed solution, since there are many scenarios of little/no use of shoes, because the user surpassed the return window, don’t fit well, didn’t get along with them and they are in perfect shape - just not qualifying for refund or exchange at the original retailer. It’s a marketplace white space that Yowana found.
Race predictors can't gauge where you're at mentally and as they say (Rich Davis), running is 90% mental. Have the mental component nailed down on race day and you can shatter all expectations. 20 years ago "Mind Gym: An Athlete's Guide to Inner Excellence" by Gary Mack propelled me to smash the race predicators. When you put in the work, the running gods know, and reward accordingly.
