If your going to fall asleep listening to music, then your turntable is not engaging and tuneful enough,so why buy one of these overpriced gadgets, stick to c.d. or stream.
I upgraded to the StudioDeck a year ago from a AT LP120. What a difference! Studiotracker cart was good, i put my AT ML540 on it and dialed it in and just WOW!!! Great turntable!! Zeppelin sounds so good!!
100% on the visual experience (as long as it sounds good) being important and also why I love the tubes. Not sure if it’s a noise thing, but I do wish they added some leds like some of the crap Chinese models. While the tubes glow, some other Chinese brands have added orange/blue leds to the mix under the tube which really bring out the ambiance. Again, more electronic components usually means more noise, but the whole visual aspect of the device counts to me too. I like the ones with the wood panels too, visually though the brand that does that style for a reasonable price (Rockville) kinda sucks. Dayton makes a quad for about 1/3 the price but it’s a hybrid with a transformer. I own the Douk P1 (duel tube hybrid) and it’s noisey as hell, especially for BT/USB, but on RCA as well. Not when playing as much but it’s uncomfortable noise when nothing is playing. I think some of it has to do with the crap AC adapter, because after I put a ferrite bead on the cord and it was slightly better. Others have reported replacing the transformer altogether solves a lot of the problem, but the box certainly has a grounding issue because if you hold the metal box, most of the noise goes away. How does this product (USA made begin a plus for it) do with noise? Does it have a grounding issue too? Easiest way to check is pick up the entire unit while you’re listening to nothing but with the unit on and headphones attached; If it’s noisy, just sitting there on a table, but when you pick it up, the noise gets less or goes away altogether, it’s a grounding issue. It’s best to put a ferrite bead on any wine going into/out of these things anyway, given that they’re usually around a lot of other electronics like a Wi-Fi tower or computer equipment, which adds noise. The mesh WiFi network I have at home is the worst for audio equipment and adds a crap load of very noticeable and consistent pattern noise. On the HF ham radio I have, if I don’t unplug the WiFi, I get a tick-tick-tick and a fixed interval/frequency over almost every HF band which makes coms incredibly bad to impossible if I run the unit with the WiFi tower anywhere near the radio. The biggest problem I’m seeing with the Chinese ones is noise and mostly from grounding. Hope this one does better as it’s on my shopping list. Thanks for the review.
Very incorrigible. Sometimes like myself I can’t decide or do things the correct way on my own. Which videos like this come in handy. Very helpful. Thank you
Boy, I don’t actually remember exactly, but it was most likely whatever the current Modi (non multibit) was at the time. The Modius would be a great pair with this, but it wasn’t released yet when I did this review.
According to the 2.2 specification, are the 2 subwoofers connected to identical inputs (mono) or are there dedicated channels for each side, carrying L/R audio which has been lowpass filtered?
I prefer the V2 with warmer tubes than stock. Schiit audio doesn't design their tube products to be too tubey sounding out of the box. They sound on the safe, cool side, just a step from ss. Tubes like sylvania, EH, mullard and others warm the character up significantly. Audio bliss through high impedance cans.
Serg knows what key words to grow the channel fast 😁 Stick to what you are doing with travel / motorbike tours and the occasional big hit video like this to expand. Don’t go the route of the “ other channel “ with car focus only. Great work 👍🏻☀️🔥
Tim, nice review. I'm converting a small bedroom into a dedicated home theater room measuring 12 x 12 x9. Please advise if a pair of SB1000Pros or... SB2000 Pros would be enough for a room this size?
I was getting the MQA music about 7 decibels louder than non MQA tracks. I disabled Replay Gain and it improved it. Ironic because Replay Gain is supposed to fix this 🤷🏼♂️
Thank u No bs review I tried many many cables with an expensive system I cannot justify to buy thousands of dollars for a speaker cable There is a difference but too small
Wanted to thank you so much for the phenomenal recommendation on Poppy Ackroyd! Love it so much I am going to purchase the album. Would be interested in seeing more of your recommendations.
I don't know I've heard that the Valhalla two as good a headphone amplifier as it is it also makes a fantastic preamplifier. The only negative of course is it's one input
The DAC they sell (MODI) has 3 different inputs, so for another 100.00 that gives you some options. I think used together would be a match made in heaven
Can this be used with a Cayin A-88T tube integrated amp? I have the Puffin DSP pre amp, but I want to use pure tube sound and not digital or solid state...
First factor should be do you have any money or you broke? ...LOL! I have a HSU VTF2-MK5 and I waited a year to purchase a 2nd. (Its on its way). The big factors for me was seriously 1) I got some extra bonus money from work. I had the money in the bank buts its much much easier to sell a wife on something like this when its extra money and 2) I have a connected Kitchen/living room so the space is pretty large at around 5000 cubic feet. I should add that as another factor....the wife factor. Can you convince her its needed? Probably not so your going to have to get creative or just ask for forgiveness later.
I’m using 12vs and I’m very happy with it, it’s punchy, dynamic, revealing and most importantly it has great timing. I forgot to mention that it’s also very fast.
there is no way this subwoofer is 550w rms power, 1500 peek ya right, i wasted 1200$ on this subwoofer, i hate the way people blows these numbers out of proportion. No more than 80watts rms in my opion, i have a paradigm ps 1200 subwoofer with 130watts continues, it blows this svs subwoofer away. soo how can you tell me this is 550watts rms, 550watts rms should be alot of power if its actualy rated power at 8ohms
Thanks so much for finding out about that "power off" option. I recently purchased the Bluesound Node and I couldn't find that info ANYWHERE. Paid nearly $600 for it. You figure they would have included a more elaborate manual than the one they supplied, which was useless. Thanks again.
