I've owned my Heritage 130P since mid 2018. I bought mine for use for visual astronomy, and because it was compact enough to set up and use on the patio of my flat. It's an excellent compact grab and go manual telescope for any suburban astronomer. Not good at splitting doubles??? With a 6.5mm eyepiece, it is excellent at that task. Here in Brisbane, Australia, at public viewing evenings organized by a local astronomy club, I regularly use Rigil Kentaurus and Toliman as a viewing target, and the split between them is something that the ordinary public can clearly see in the 6.5mm eyepiece. Cellphone Astrophotography through the eyepiece. With the right eyepiece, getting good photos of stars is not out of reach. Being f5, the moon and planets are really bright in this telescope, and that shows up in cellphone photos.

Do you think the eqr8 is too much for the c11?
@AbdurAstro
@AbdurAstro 2 дня назад
No such thing as too much mount. If it's within your price range and it'll be in an observatory instead of transporting it to a dark site each time, then it would work great for C11. Another option is the CEM120. My CEM70 has been running amazingly and surprisingly works well for my C11 as long as there is no wind. However if there is any wind, the CEM120 or EQ8-R would be more stable.

Great review of a great scope...and one of my absolute favorites. Mine still gets lots of use, and I have a TEC 140 Apo and an Edge HD 1400 in my observatory.
@AbdurAstro
@AbdurAstro 2 дня назад
Thank you. It's definitely a good budget option (and much easier to transport than the TEC 140 or EdgeHD 1400). We are spoiled by all the options we have for refractors now from Askar, Sharpstar etc but I've seen the SkyWatcher 100ED on the used market for really good prices.

The ZWO takes top spot on the Veil nebula, however, FOV aside, the Seestar is a formidable contender. For M13 I felt the Seestar was every bit as nice as the MC2600 image. For $3000, I could have 6 Seestars simultaneously capturing a mosaic of the entire Veil complex, capturing 6 different objects at once, or all of them capturing a single object at 6x speed. My Seestar arrived today, which of course means it will rain for the next few weeks. :( Thank you for this side-by-side comparison.

Just finding this now. This is incredible and as weird as it sounds, makes me want to see how far I can push my small 130mm newt. Obviously I don't have as much resolving power due to the smaller aperture, but I think people really underestimate what a small telescope can do.

So this is not "real" HST Drizzle (APP/ PI), it's upscaling. You need to be running Siril Alpha for HST Drizzle (at this time). And Drizzle is applied in the seqapplyreg process rather than the register process.

Very good tutorial! I am trying to run the modified OSC_Preprocessing_WithoutDBF_drizzle.ssf script but unfortunately in the stacking stage (so after converting the sub frames into higher resolution frames) I get a memory failure in the end: ************************************************************* Using 2750 MB memory maximum for stacking We have 84 parallel blocks of size 137 (+4) for stacking. Stacking failed Stacking failed, please check the log to fix your issue. It looks like there is a memory allocation error, change memory settings and try to fix it. ************************************************************* Allthough in the log file I cannot find any memory related issues in the previous script steps until this one pops up and the script execution is broken off. I start with 616 sub frames directly from the Seestar. I have an old PC, about 12 years old (LOL): i5-3570K processor Ivy Bridge (LOL 2nd..) 8 GB RAM memory (LOL again...) in 2 banks Z77X-D3H motherboard Windows 10 22H2 Build 19045.4842 Developer modus is ON (Windows 10) With the Seestar script I used before, I also have this problem now & then and it sometimes helps to restart the PC and directly after startup, start script execution in Siril. I know it is difficult to judge from a distance what the cause could be but what are the minimum specifications of the PC hardware to execute the script successfully with HD upgraded sub frames?

Dear Friend, I appreciate your efforts to demonstrate the operation of this accessory. For many years I have spent a lot of energy and time collimating Newtonian telescopes. It’s one of the most tiring procedures for me. In my humble opinion, there is no reliable way to place a point on the reflecting surface of the diagonal mirror at the point where the optical axis breaks due to reflection, keeping the reflected optical axis coincident with the axis of the focusing tube. Nevertheless, I had thought about buying this accessory. Unfortunately, after watching your video carefully, I have come to the conclusion that this accessory will not solve any of my problems. I have tackled these problems with every means at my disposal, and it has taken me much longer than the twenty minutes you spend showing your collimating process. I have arrived at an acceptable degree of approximation. I say this only because, at the end of the process you describe, there are still uncertainties about the result achieved.These are just my personal considerations, I am glad that other people have appreciated this device for their Newtonian telescopes.

As a real novice at 70 years old, this video and your precise explanations has really given me an insight as to not only how but why these steps in processing are necessary. I have owned the Seestar for a few months now, as a new hobby in retirement, I have been blundering my way trying to understand the complex art of image processing. No longer, after minutely following your video, making precise notes, my interest in my Seestar is again "keeping me up at nights" weather here in the UK permitting. Thank you.

Hi everyone. I made a new video showing how I process data of the Dumbbell nebula (from the SeeStar S50) here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WqNxzFmjRZ4.htmlsi=IJrif0VR50IB-fpr It's part of my SeeStar Roundup series (in collaboration with @AllStarTelescope) where viewers send in their data of the object of the month (this month is the Iris Nebula) and I process all of our data together. Hoping my viewers from this channel can join in for next month as well. It's good practice as you get to download the RAW stacked SeeStar image and process along with me.

Hi @AbdurAstro, thank you for the video! I'm interested in the Celestron Origins for the same reasons you mentioned here (setup time and future upgrades), but on the side would like to also have a very portable one on the side for traveling and I was set on the Seestar S50 until the Dwarf 3 came out. Which of these two would you pick? Seestar S50 or Dwarf 3? Thank yoiu in advance!
@AbdurAstro
@AbdurAstro 5 дней назад
@@jaydias13 Hi there. Between the S50 and Dwarf 3, I think the Dwarf 3 has an edge as it is newer. It has an 8mp sensor compared to a 2mp one on the S50. So it will have a larger field of view and thanks to the smaller 2micron pixels (vs 2.9 micron), it's actual resolution will be fairly close to the S50. But the S50 has a slight advantage here as the objects look 17% larger with the S50 when zoomed in at 100%. I like that the Dwarf 3 has mosaic mode out of the box (although ZWO is working on one for the S50 it seems) and the Dwarf 3 has an option for equatorial mode in the software but I will have to see how well that works if I can get my hands on a review unit. The widefield camera on the Dwarf 3 is an advantage for milky way shots. So over all I don't think you can go wrong with either as they are both good value but the Dwarf 3 has an edge spec wise.
@jaydias13
@jaydias13 4 дня назад
@@AbdurAstro Thank you! I'm indeed leaning towards the Dwarf 3 because of the equatorial mode and longer exposure time.

@@AbdurAstro 2:00 - I'm seeing a ton of Z-banding which is indicative of loose belts. It can cause structural failure later on in the print's life. Not a huge issue for this particular application, but I 3D print a lot and I would not deem that as an acceptable print to send a client.
