This channel is dedicated to Vauxhall and Opel cars of all ages and models The plan is to cover day to day maintenance, small repairs right up to major overhauls as well as restorations and saving near end of life vehicles from the scrap yard In the future I plan to buy an accident damaged car and prove it can be repaired at home on your driveway So whether your new to fixing up cars or have years of experience I hope we can all learn from each other along the way
Very good video. I just bought a astra twin top and the owner said that the roof ECU needs to be changed, but he wasn't sure. yes the roof is not working and when he connects the ecu nothing works and the trunk can't be open once the ecu is plugged in. how can I check the ecu to make sure that its working or not. I really hope I can get some answers, and I hope that I will be needing to only change the winglet motor.
Nice video, I have an old Vectra B 2000 edition and it looks pretty similar but it seems to be impossible to lower that arm so the ball joint can come out. I use a long iron lever but it's not enough. The ball joint i lose and can move a cm up and down, about 1/3 of an inch.
I have a vauxhall astra h 1.4 but the engine is misfiring,I changed the plugs coilpack but its still misfiring fault codes are po300 po303 po304 don't know how to test injectors
I have a problem with mine. The boot is locked and I cant open. I took it to the garage, and they were able to open using the diagnostic machines. However, they couldn't fix it. Do you have any ideas?
It could be any number of things, the wiring loom in the boot area is a common problem, I am surprised the garage couldn't tell you more from the diagnostic machine
Just came across this, scary stuff mate! Watching that clip of the car falling omg ! Cant even begin to imagine how it must be for yourself. I work on my own car and always aim for safety like yourself but it always a massive risk, I have about 4 jacks, 4 axle stands, wheel chocks plus 2 very heavy thick solid wood blocks screwed and bolted together which I also place under the car just in case. I also give the car a good shake just to make sure before I get under the thing😬 Glad your ok mate, stay safe !
Thanks, it was scary, I had the car secure on ramps and axel stands etc all day, the accident occurred while getting it off the stands, I had left the steering lock off which allowed the car to twist sideways
The un edited versions are not a lot different, unless you want to watch hours of me wondering around and scratching my head 🤣, I thought I had done quite a good job of explaining things, if you want to know something specific, let me know and I will try and help

Hi did you manage to find out how to remove the brake booster clip that broke at 10:26 i can see that being my first major set back..cant find anything online about it aswell
I'm afraid I can't remember off hand as it was a couple of years ago now, I think it broke and the replacement engine came with the pipe still attached so used that one instead, I've been driving it ever since with no problems so I must have fixed it 🤣
Hi after you take the 6 bolts off the upper manifold, you say their is another, 5 6 or even 8 bolts underneath, did you mean 8 bolts on the lower manifold from the part 2 video?
Similar thing happened to me with a Volvo V70 a few years ago. I had jacked the rear up and had axle stands on both sides. I had just bent down to grab something and on the way up the car fell towards me pinning me between my garden wall and the rear of the car. I could not take in a full breath and started to pass out. There was nobody around but luckily my son had heard a noise from the bathroom. I don’t remember much after being pinned but a neighbour from two doors away came in and literally jacked the car off me sideways from the wall and the car! I was really sore for about 6 weeks and had one cracked rib. It turned out that even though the car was secure with the axle stands, the concrete on my drive had actually gave way slightly and caused it to shift! I dread to think if it had gone when I had just bent down. It would’ve been lights out! I still have bad dreams about it. My neighbour who had saved my life was suffering himself from lung cancer at the time. When the ambulance arrived they gave him oxygen first and he was in such a state they thought it was him that had been trapped! Poor guy died 2 years ago but I’ll never forget how he saved me that day.
Thanks for sharing this, I feel for you mate, I till have bad dreams about it and its now been a year and I have only just built up the courage to start working on cars again (hence no new vids for a while) thank god for neighbours eh? I was lucky that some of mine were outside chatting, hadn't really spoken to them much before then, we have now become good friends, sorry to hear about your neighbour mate, if I have learnt anything, its that life is a very fragile and precious thing take care and stay safe
great vid thanks a million . i have a 2008 previous owner has been at it and completely ballsed it up . i live in ireland can anyone give me advice where to get parts from . they do not have a clue here
I use AUTODOC quite a lot (search for them online) they look like a UK company but are actually based in Germany I think, I'm sure they ship to Ireland takes about a week for delivery
It could be a number of things, if its not moving at all I would suggest getting the codes ready with something like op-com that will give you an idea of what is wrong
you don't have to take off the entire front bumper. you only need to disassemble the grill at the top and bottom. You can then remove the condenser from the top. saves a lot of work 👍
Its hard to say but sounds like the clutch isn't pressing against the flywheel, really need to the gearbox out and check everything, friction plate is the correct way round, release bearing/clutch lever not stuck, hope this helps
incase its not been said yet theres a flat blade screwdriver slot that you can adjust to match the opposite side just adjust to match and jobs a good 1
Thanks mate! I have a zafira b 1.9 turbo diesel, (so i have an intercooler and a different condenser, but same chassis) and i couldn't figure out how to take the bumper off, since i have to change the cooler out (have holes in it i'm afraid), now i do! 10/10 video and thank you for making it!
Hello mate my engine blew up considering putting a new engine in do you have any advice on doing so do you have to re bleed the brakes and the clutch aswell? Will be first time doing it but i do have abit of knowledge
Hi, your videos are great. I had similar ticking in my zafira b 2005 1.6 petrol. I had loose baffle plates and swirl flaps. I resealed the baffle plates and done the bearing mod on the swirl flaps, car runs like new. I am now worried how hot the area of the bearings get and if it will melt the glue? Any ideas. Many thanks again for your informal videos 👌👌👌
Had it recharged and it was fine for about 2 months now its not getting cold again and the pump has started making a noise, another job and another vid 😉probably leave it till the spring now and get it leak tested and any refrigerant removed when its in for MOT
Exactly the problem I’m getting. Noisy. I’ve just changed the alternator as the one way clutch on it was gone. Much quieter but aircon is still noisy. Definitely a job for spring 👍🏻
Hello mate, what are the symptoms of clogged channels? In my case I noticed a vibrations/resonance when I am starting on first or reverse gear. There are no trouble codes and idle RPMs are even. Do You think it might cause the problem? Thanks!
I'm not sure what the actual symptoms would be probably slow acceleration maybe increased fuel consumption, my engine had a lot of other issues due to a lack of servicing by the previous owner, I would have thought vibration when pulling away is likely to be clutch, engine mount or maybe even an exhaust mount
I had one make that noise swear blind it was camshaft or tappets but turned out to be inlet manifold flap inside manifold rubber seals worn away 2nd hand manifold sorted it
@@vauxrez8831 i now don't think its the actuator fault as i feel a surge of power when reaching 3000 rpm. Which indicates the actuator and the system is working....so I'll look somewhere else. I suspect the throttle position sensor. (I'm writing this for anyone who still has a hard time finding the problem)
Va salut! Mie imi apare masina cu cheita in bord iar ca eroare pe tester p1113 tension elevada circuit electrovalva cum crede ti ca as putea rezolva problema?
Hi, thanks for you comment, no, you don't need to empty the coolant, as the pipes are at the top of the engine, you barely loose any, just check the levels after you have put it all back together
It's very rare that you will need to adjust the valve clearances on a modern engine as most are hydraulic, however you can buy replacement cam followers of different thicknesses, you need to measure the existing valve clearance then remove the follower and take note of the size stamped on the inside, add the measured clearance to the stamped size then subtract the required clearance, this will give you the required thickness of the new follower
Mate you get my thumbs up, subscription and praise.. you might be getting old but this video is gold. Will strip out our 2006 1.6 XEP Astra H condensor and refit new because of your video. Else R1500 labour here in South Africa for a relativley simple job. Thanks man!
Hi, When you remove the sensor you're opening the system up and so will release some or more likely most of the gas,, also legally speaking You're supposed to have the system emptied at a garage even before you remove the sensor unless you're 'sure' it's already empty,; why do you think the sensor is defective ? Bridging the sensor connection is only done to confirm if your pump/clutch is working or not and either proves it's not or if it does starts up that the system is very low on gas and probably has a leak somewhere !!?
Hi, have You noticed any increase of vibrations with the damaged flex pipe? In my case just the outer net is loose, the pipe is still in one piece. I noticed a slight vibrations during acceleration between 2000 and 3000 rpm. Thank You!
@@vauxrez8831 Hello mate, thanks for the answer :) I just replaced the front section with flex pipe as it desintegrated completely. No difference with vibration level, but it surely is less noisy on highway speeds :)
@@Maniekmatrix Maybe a bit late but the vibrations you mentioned should be something normal.I am also experiencing the same and I went through all german forums and it seems that this is just a manufacturing problem because Opel themselves tried to look up to it and didn't find a solution.I tried and changed all the mounts and brought absolutely nothing.
@@DDragnevv I already replaced the front exhaust section with flex pipe, nothing changed. I also have a slight vibration on the steering wheel when car is idling. The level of vibration increases with AC turned on, already replaced the middle transmission mount without any effect :D
@@ManiekmatrixThat transmission mount was a pain in the ***.The vibrations on idle rpm occur on my car also and everyday it's different. There are days that there're no vibrations and days where I feel my mounts are shattered. No idea why.
