The X-E1 was great in it's time (ESPECIALLY with an XF35/1.4 mounted), but the slower 'contrast only' AF and the noise at higher ISOs made it frustrating to use in low light. The X-E2 was better than the X-E1 in almost every respect. IF Fuji had just given us an X-E2 with a flip LCD, it would have been the best selling camera of all time and deservedly so. I DO like the 26mp sensor of my X-E4 cameras and LOVE the flip LCD (though NOT the selfie mode that flips the image upside down...Fuji should really di a firmware Kaizen update to fix that!) but the three X-E2 bodies that I had will always remain dear memories to my heart. I look forward to your impressions.
Thanks for your comment! The X-E1 is still as great as it was when it first came out. ;) As you probably understood from the video, I really like this camera and its sensor. Yes, almost every other Fuji camera is better in terms of performance, but those colors-that's what adds value to this camera. The only X-E camera I have left to review is the X-E2-which should be quite simple, as I’ve had two before and have made tons of images with it. That will mean I’ve reviewed all of the X-E cameras. My favorite is the X-E3, and my least favorite is the X-E4. I really miss the SCM switch on the front and pushing the joystick to re-center the AF. The tilt screen is, as you say, nice! Personally, I would prefer an X-E5 that’s like an X-E3 with a tilt screen, weather sealing, and 10-bit color recording in video, but without IBIS! Regarding the image flipping upside down, you can add magnets to the camera. There are 1mm thin neodymium magnets that will solve that issue. I know a friend who did that; unfortunately, I don't have much more information, but I think you can Google it.
Fuji fucked up by not giving the new one linear motors. LM would have been a reason for people to upgrade, but with slow AF it's not worth 1 grand when Sigma is €400, the old 56 1.2 is around €350-500 used and there are plenty of decent budget options around €200. I also don't like the cateyes on the new one and sharpness is not visible unless you zoom in which nobody bothers to do anyway. People will much rather notice round bokeh than sharpness. For creative hobby use, the old one is fantastic, for professional use I would get another camera brand, the slow AF isn't worth €1k in my opinion, Fuji should get back to the drawing board and get these LMs in there when asking for €1k
I own an X30 (also an X100V) and enjoy shooting with it on occasion. In this video, you pointed out the issues and limitation of the X30…and never explained why (in your opinion) you think this is “The Best Compact Camera of All Time”. I agree it’s a very good camera, but I’m reserved to say “best” given it’s limitations you mention here.
I'm an Indonesian wedding photographer, and still use the original A7. That thing is a tank, and the battery cost me about 1/4 the price of new FZ1000 battery
I have this lens. I love the colors, for some reason it apears that it produces more pixels magically compared to fuji 35/1.4. But the Fuji produces more contrast especially on BW. I equally love them both. To honest, the aperture ring of Carl Zeiss is not tight enough and accedentally changed the aperture setting that made me reshoot when I check after shoot, which most of the time I failed relegoiusly to do so. Other than that, I love the color output. For BW, I prefer the Fuji 35.1.4.
Why were they throwing bottles at you? Did they not like that you were taking photos of them? Thought I'd ask because i want to do more street photography and don't want people to throw glass bottles at me.

It's a street where there are a lot of people who don't want to end up in front of the camera, such as people selling drugs, prostitutes, homeless people, people with addiction problems, and so on. In the past, this street used to be really dirty, but it is starting to clean up. Now there is a mixture of all that I just mentioned, along with some regular bars, restaurants, and hotels. There is also a bar that I regularly visit called Hats, Boots & Bourbon. Okay, it's more like a store with a bar, which is quite common in Denmark. Anyway, I saw a very colorful umbrella and raised my camera. A random woman who wasn’t even in front of my camera got confrontational. I was like, "If you don't want to be in front of the camera, then don't walk up in front of it. Leave me alone, and I'll leave you alone." Moving on, on my way to the central station, I met a guy with an amazing beard. I was creating an image of him when suddenly some women started running towards me, yelling and throwing bottles. I love my silver X30 as it compliments my silver X100T well. People always ask me if it’s a film camera. The Denoise feature of Lightroom Classic does wonders for these images. What film simulations are you using for your images in the video?

Hi I just bought a 5D Classic an hour ago . The previous owner said that I might need to buy an original prime lens (If I wanted the best results ) I see you are using a Domiplan 2.8/50 . I have one of these ( and other FSU lenses ) . I would love to see some of the results you have had . Might save me having to invest - Cheers
@@robynhowley5474Hi! 👋The defenitiin of best result is highly subjective. Are we talking of best technical pefromer or the best look. And then what is the best look? put what ever lens you have on it and see what result it yields of you like it then it fine. if you want af a canon nifty 50 cab be bought for a relative small amount of money. check out the 50mm f1.8 on mpb.com with that you have the added bonus of Af, since manual focusing on a DSLR without changing the focus screen to a split image one is quite hard.
I had to learn to love this camera. Took me six months of failing - when I had it new - and around six or so years of not touching and actually forgetting about it. But this was the camera that got me back into photography after years of refusing to take photos because I got so fed up with it. That's what I got for making my hobby my job. Nowadays I'm back to just having fun with photography and the X30 is still one of my favorite cameras. I just tweeted out to Fuji a couple of days ago that we need a successor. 😉
@@oliver-mandic I know that feeling I had a long periods without a camera as well.. Bought a lumix s5 to make fashion again.. How ever finding models was harder in. 2020 then it was abck in 200i8. One evening at a hotel feeling bored at a client jib I decided to just go out and do street photography as I did when I was at photography school. Now days after 20 years as a working photographer the passion is stinger then ever, :) when I get gear for my self my biggest priority is how it makes me feel.. specs don't mater for me. glad. your passion gör sparked aswell!
I'm considering buying one, I'd like it for fun (off-road), but also as a daily driver. My only real concern is the highway with this car. Could you recommend it to me? Thank you
The X10 is my all time favourite camera. Eventually had to replace it with an X30. Didn’t quite get the same loving relationship with that one. It was too modern for my taste, I guess.
@@TomVestvik I kind of like thw whole ovf thing with the x10 and x20 how ever I had the same ovf issues with two cameras bought so I gave it up. When it was working though it gave me a cool nostalgic feel with just the bare minimum in the viewfinder, like how cameras was when I started out. Where I had to make sure my setting is right and from then onwards just focus on the image and visualise what it will be. For this reason I'm really enjoy my x100v. and before that the xpro models. But the modern features in the x30 was what made me like it, the experience I could get from the older is one that I already have. Having tried the x20 and x30 I kind of want to try one x10 as well though. Bit sure that it will be much of an diffrece though since they all have the same lens and sensor.
If they used a 1 inch and made it a 28-70 it could have been long term winner in the market place. Otherwise the featurs, handling, and output are a great mix that no other compact had. Still love mine
@@jmtphotographymedia one always want more 😉 I kind of like that this goes all the way to 112, it gives me a file of view that I don't rarely use. How ever that 1inch sensor would be nice to.. This is the only compact camera I have bee using that don't feel like a compact camera. Try to figure out where to go from now, Richo gr3 or X70 is tempting. 🤔
@@jmtphotographymedia my collection is quite small, cameras comes and goes for me on a regular basis. The keepers and work horses I have is xt5 and x-s20 for my paid jobs and an x100v for street photography. The x30 and x20 sparked an interest for the 28mm focal length at least for certain situations. Not sure how I would. like doing street portraits on that fields of view though. So perhaps it's time to find out 🙂
@@jeepsblackpowderandlights4305 They was used in sörhe Swedish military,. many of these jeeps in Sweden comes with a service book form the military. So there is no doubt that this to jeeps was used by the Swedish Air force.
@@Kim_Alexander but what im saying is.. they bought a civilian built Jeep and painted it green.. its 100% identical to the one i have. The military ones were the m715
What Fujifilm did with a 2/3" (8.8x6.6mm) sensor is just amazing, but for a camera this size it should have a much larger sensor to be competitive. Once the light goes down, it's over. Best compact ever ? i disagree. I would take an rx100vii for size & zoom range being similar over this in a second (not to mention the sensor is twice the size and has more resolution) and i'm a fujifilm user for the last 20 yrs.
@@frankartale1026 I had. an rx100 before.. ist a boring camera to use. 📸💤😂 Tha Sony also have a small sensor so I this case I don't care if it's a small sensor in a Sony or a smaller sensor in a fuji. It all comes down to the user experience for me.
A great video. We have 4 of these cameras. My partner and 2 children and myself. This is a great camera. Even when you use the intelligent digital zoom where you can use photos up to 200mm. When you know how to handle with his limitations, you could make incredible photos. I compared it to my S5Pro, X-T1 , F50, f30 and X100Vl, and it still is a great camera. Even my newest X100Vl which is the best camera but misses the zoom and snappy compact photo camera experience of the X30. Even the battery had a long life. Its still a joy to use this camera and second hand its more expensive then the new price in 2014. Im a Fujifilm fan and can say that this camera is still the best compact camera thats ever made.

@@SteveKleinheider since I'm running this channel when I have an item up for review I use it alot. After that I find a new item to review and use that more. Quite often i also have to sell gear that I like to get new gear.
Mine developed a Lens Error. I primarily used it in Black in White and the Jpegs are awesome. Too bad, I cannot use it anymore. One contender is the Sony RX100 Series but yeah, it is not Fujifilm 😅
@@Kim_Alexander I am using latest version but I don’t have a Fuji camera I have a canon, I believe one can change the camera ICC profile & change the curve but Fuji don’t show any of it film curves. Do you think it’s possible ?

@@mattsisley3700 I still like the x20. The optical viewfinder is fun, but mine wasn't working so well. They are both fun cameras but the x30. I slightly nether for me. Not I'm terms of image quality but in over all user experience.
I drive since 20 years with solid axles f/r Samurai, Land cruiser, landrover and nissan patrol and never ever felt unconfortable on and off road! Solid axles are simply the best👍👍
Thanks! Thats not goinf to work since Olympus e500 have a micro 4/3 sensor that is much smaller that the Lumix. for that reason i dont think you would be able to fins any adaptor
When the Viltrox 75 mm 1.2 Pro came out I sold the Fujifilm 56 mm 1.2 R. It seemed sharper wide open and the focal length suited perfectly for my needs.After a year, I was no longer so pleased with the Viltrox, the bokeh it didn't seem great to me anymore and the AF did a horrible hunting..after an unfortunate episode with Sony I switched back to Fuji..now I'm very indecisive and don't know what to choose between mki and mkii...especially now when i work with the XT-5
75mm field of view is one that I don't have much experience with. Perceptions sometimes change over time. Often, you have a honeymoon phase with new gear. Personally, though, I still use the Viltrox 27mm and still enjoy the lens a lot. Regarding the new and old 56mm, I would say if you want the best performance possible wide open, the new one is the way to go. If you want character, a smaller lens, and sometimes stop down the lens some, the older one is great.
Sorry, I have no idea regarding the cylinder head. The Jimny, though, came with two types of engine: the G13 and M13 engines. A similar engine was used in other cars, so a swap might be possible. Another popular swap is the 1.6 Vitara engine swap. That engine is almost a direct swap. Headroom is pretty good in this one, and the chair moves backwards quite a lot. I think you will be able to fit, being 185 cm tall.
Thx for a honest review! I love the way You express Your insights ;) I have had TTArtisan 25/2 .. seems like this Pergear 25/1.7 has almost the same optical formula, like TTArtisan. At least when it comes to rendering :) But TTArtisan has beautiful flare - not that ugly like in Pergear. TTArtisan 25/2 has also almost the same price, it's all metal and I find focusing with it super easy (even wide open) - because TTArtisan 25/2 has more focus throw. If You haven't - I do recommend You to try it ;) You would not regret it ;) TTArtisan 25/2 has plenty of character, very pleasing rendering, it produces beautiful flare, and it become very sharp once You stop it down. I'm surprised, that TTArtisan 25/2 gathers not so much attention among photographers..
I am so glad I got myself an X-E1. With all my digital photography including Nikon, Canon, Sony, I hated the magenta tint in blue sky. The X-E1 doesn't have that. And also the red is more deep red but not saturated, like it should be. And yellow is more the kill-bill yellow with a hint of orange, much warmer buuuut not overly saturated.
Brother, I have a problem with the ABS, the light comes on but also the unit does not work. The diagnostic shows a problem with the unit, but maybe I should look at something else before replacing the unit? The vehicle is the vw bora. Thank you very much and be healthy
on. my toyota i had some abs issues, the abs engaged in low speed. And diagnostic showed an error. cleaning the sensors worked in this case. Always wort trying.
