As I first saw it, I thought this could be a great camera! I like the size, the look and design. Some features seem to be very good. But there are too many flaws. Too many limitations. I've expected more from a new camera...
same here first I got my expectations high m, the when they started to talk about content creation camera that bubble broke. would be so easy for them o make. something successful here. Hopefully this is the first out of more similar cameras, I hope the next one will be more. photocentric
@@mlai2546 ZVE1 weighs 483g with a battery and a memory card vs the S9's 486g with a battery and an SD card. So they're pretty much identical. And body only, the S9 is 403g which is again pretty much identical.
What is the market for this camera? Because short form content creaters are more than happy using their phones, they certainly arnt about to spend 1.5k on a camera that has more limitations than it has advantages. And i dont know any tik tok or instagram uploader whos been screaming for a full frame camera.
reporters from Swedish television are you using cellphones so I doubt as you that the average short form of content creator would use a full frame camera. But then we have the Sony zv series and nikon z30. For many users who film them self a camera makes more sense since the best cameras on a phone facing the wrong direction if you want to see your self. Personally I think the big issue with this camera is the record limit.
Thank you for stating the negative side of S9, all the reviews I've watched are overwhelming (probably because Panasonic gave them the camera and sponsored the blog. Planning to order but I have to think twice now! I saw sample photos taken and want to see pictures in low lighting at higher ISO.
Gerald undone made a video regarding youtubers who get sponserd trips with some solid points. I think this camera is a kind of "style" camera for people who aren't in with photography or video so much, but who are not on a budget and want something small and stylish. You know, all the different leatherette colors.
It's gonna be an amazing camera. Of course not for those who want to complaint about 6K time recording limits bc of course they only watch any visual content on their 6K screens....... The biggest complainers are those who never deliver any great emotions via their work. The point is to understand who this camera is for. It's amazing camera. Great job @Lumix!! who do you think is. most objective, someone who looks at the specs and give there thoughts or someone who got a paid ticket to Japan by Panasonic to have a look at the camera? I my opinion the is a avarage camera even for the intended target group far away from amazing..
@@Kim_Alexander She, Emily, is (in my opinion) the most objective due to her experience as a real professional photographer with an unsellable character i.e. @MicroFourNerds and some other guys who were invited to Japan to the S9 launch event.

My master, who has been a commercial photographer since the 70s, didn’t know much about tech. I was the one responsible for buying tech in the studio where I started my career. I spent 11 years working there before I worked for Ikea and later as an in-house director of photography at an advertisement agency. None of my co-workers in the studio had an interest in tech. Next year, I’m celebrating 20 years as a working professional. That means I spent at least 8 hours every Monday to Friday working for clients. Besides that, I do street photography and RU-vid in my spare time. Does that make me more objective on RU-vid? I think if a RU-vid channel is dedicated to mostly one brand or a system like Micro 4/3, that somewhat makes the person subjective. I don't have any issues with that though. People like different things and have different needs. What I have an issue with is when companies try to influence content creators to say good things in ways that are ethically questionable.
This is a good travel camera small plus interchange this reminds me of the Olympus Pen Series the S5ii is the EP version and the S9 is more like EPL version.
I don't agree just being small don't makes it great for travel. And what exactly does travel means. If I travel to Africa to create images of animals it's crap, If I go to Bangkok to make street photography it's crap. If I travel to my visit family it's crap because inriskngettibg bandings and when I photograph them. This is targeted to a very limited group of people people that create short form content who could that could there phones.
@Kim_Alexander just like what Panasonic told Gerald when he didn't get the invite, "This Camera is not for you" To me I feel this is a step up to my phone and some point and shoot camera out there. I can pair this with M lenses or any small adapted lenses it will be nice. Small enough for me and light enough for me.
While it's true that 6K 4:2:0 has more overall chroma resolution than 4K 4:2:2 due to the higher base resolution, there are important considerations for color grading. For professional color grading, the 4K 4:2:2 footage is generally preferable because it provides better color fidelity and reduced risk of color artifacts. The 6K 4:2:0 footage, despite having higher overall chroma resolution, might not hold up as well under intense color grading because of its more aggressive chroma subsampling. So, while your statement is technically correct regarding overall chroma resolution, 4K 4:2:2 is usually the better choice for color grading due to its superior color detail and accuracy..
@@ChrisThe1 Please be respectful. Yes I know how chroma subsampling works. A 6k UHD signal with 4:2:0 subsampling will have a chroma resolution of 2880×1620 or 4.67 MP. In comparison, a 4k 4:2:2 image will have a chroma resolution of 1920×2160 or 4.15 MP.
The printout of the camera was funny. The high price with all the limitations, puts S9 in the running for worst value camera 2024. I think content creators would prefer an action cam, the pocket, or Sony compact camera that has amazing auto focus. Trying to entice novices with manual focus pancake lens fixed aperture at f/8 it's pure comedy. They negated the part that a content creator would want shallow dof for the bokeh effect.
Thanks fot your comment! there is defently more to wish for regarding this camera. I try to look at it from the intended target group. And not with my own needs. What strikes me then is that the user have only. a tiny amount of wiggle room. to improve and develop. With would make the camera obsolete quite quick. Also if we look at the dimensions it's simular to the Sony A7c in size with some tiny differences. Yet Sony put an mechanical shutter in the camera. Had the s9 had a Mechanical shutter and the possibility to override the time restrictions it would be a completely different story.
@@Kim_Alexander Camera companies are more concerned that new models don't compete with existing ones. In this case the S5II. If this camera didn't have a record limit, had a view finder, headphone jack, and was over all a proficient photo and video hybrid. That would attract the same pool of people who'd buy the S5II. They're not interested in building the best compact camera they can design, they want it to appeal to a different group of people.
@@petercofrancesco9812 good think we have fuji who put the same sensor and prosessor in all there cameras. It allows the user two have same output on the work set up as the tiny family or travel set up
I don't have any issues with the look of it 😉 I also don't mind to prioritise look over certain functionality. However in this case that compromise is substantial. If we assume that most users grow and improve with the gear even the casual user might run into those limits the wiggle room is quite narrow. While sony managed. Regarding recording time limits some users report that the recording can be restarted a couple of times before the camera over heat. While then not let the user to override the time restrictions as we can in other Lumix cameras. This would and a huge amount of more versetility to this camera.
@@Kim_Alexander Speaking as an experienced photographer, the compromises are not substantial at all. I think this is the area that a lot of people including yourself assume to be so. I like ES. Silent shooting is a good thing in many scenarios. Banding can be managed through a setting in the menu. I rarely encounter scenarios where rolling shutter would be an issue. Honestly having a great IBIS system trumps the need of a mechanical shutter. Also rarely shoot more than 5 minutes per video, given the context of the travel/casual aspect. Cheers.
@@Hexlord Also speaking as an experencent photographer 🤗 I do believe that the compromise is substantial. How ever this camera is not for everyone and opinions regarding cameras are different. Personally the. moments Igeneraly try to capture would be gone when I'm done in the meny. Users reports that you can restart the recording several times befriend the camera over heat. Why the remove the ability to over ride the record limit like you could on other lumix cameras. I think this camera is a flop, but it could be fixed. Create some small prime lenses with a leaf shutter and remove the time restrictions. Further down the road they should make a photo centric version and that's where the benefit of the primes with the leaf comes in. That would set up Panasonic for success, and force other brands into further development.
