Hello & welcome to my channel. On this channel I feature videos on my RC car collection. I am based in the United Kingdom. I use 3D printing wherever I can to make my builds work. Which includes many self designed brackets, adaptors & accessories. Also models from open source sites like Thingiverse similar. There are some full size RC bodies on the way. I have also printed scale bridges, tunnels & accessories.
What a nail-biting beginning this video has! Yes, your arches are completely undetectable. Even knowing that they're printed, I can't see the slightest hint of any lines; they look as though they're resin printed. You seem to have a magically low C of G, yet enjoy excellent ground clearance, too!
It was very much a cliff hanger for much of the crawl. There was a point towards the end (where the camera gets very close to catch it) where the Unimog really was about to go. Some stiffer foams would give the tyres more sidewall rigidity, but where's the fun in that! Thank you for commenting on the 3D arches. I'm trying to improve the quality of my finished prints by sanding out the lines more consistently. The metal wheels combined with the portal axles seem to give the ultimate scale crawler here (plus decent ESC). It just wants to climb everything. I could have stayed there all day trying out it's capabilities. That was just one short single shot. 😁
Well crawled, sir! And what a lovely Mog you've made. The metal (steel?) wheels put the weight right where it's needed, and the wider arches don't make the truck look like a cartoon - in fact, I wouldn't have noticed at all if you hadn't mentioned them. Did you sit there and laboriously model that wood grain yourself? If so...congratulations! It looks tremendous.
Hello Del. The wheels are aluminium. But I put some brass rings in for good measure. It weighs a scale ton lower down now. Luckily it seems Unimogs can have subtly different arches in full scale. So wider looks fine within reason. I would like to take the credit for the wood. But it's molded like that. Just don't see it in flat body colour. There seemed to be just a little too much green as standard. It's a really effective small crawler. Hoping for a proper excursion tomorrow. 👍
@@RC3DPrintAdventure I thought you might've printed a replacement bed - odd how the stock flat green conceals the texture so well on screen. It's got proper low gearing!
It's a great little crawler with the extra wheel weight. I took it for a proper spin today. Just set the throttle speed & it crawls up anything. Only need to concentrate on the lines! I've been thinking of another modification for the bed. The camper box has been done a lot already for this model. I thought about a tow truck crane?
@@RC3DPrintAdventure I love it when you have a good enough ESC to allow you to just creep along, thinking only about lines. The tow truck look is really cool for a trail truck or crawler, vans I think a Unimog tow truck would look marvellous. One reason I've never done it is the thought of either breaking the job, if I were to make it from something like styrene, or breaking i's mountings to the chassis. But this is so small that, a bit like a Matchbox car, perhaps it can tumble down a slope without collapsing.
Thank you. The tyres are very soft & sticky. I thought there was just a little too much green so made the most of the wood grain. Thanks for watching & commenting. 👍
Muito bom o vídeo amigo está bem realista, só está faltando um detalhe, o personagem porque, o carro está parecendo um fantasma andando é uma opinião amigo 👍👍👍😍🤩
Hello, I drilled a hole either side of the drivers seat & ran a cable tie around the figure & under the interior panel. The cable tie acts as a lap belt then. 👍
The figure is a walking dead action figure, Rick. Approximately 5" tall. It's a but tight for head room, but he doesn't move. Thanks for watching & commenting. 👍
This is a marvellous piece of creative modelling, Guy! I thought you'd nicked the box from a Bruder fire engine or something! Crawls well, too, considering what the box must have done to the C of G...
Hello Del, I'll definitely take that as a compliment that you thought the box was bought. It was a simple design but I am happy with the finish. Agreed, the box has shifted the CofG upwards, but it's completely hollow & thin walled. So as good as it gets.👍
@@Del350K4 Indeed. I think the higher CofG makes it lurch & wobble in a realistic fashion. As good as modern lexan designs are getting. You can't beat a hard body. 😁
Hello Del. Agreed, it does look a lot better. I originally thought I would have to lower the suspension too, but the new tyres fill the arches much better. Luckily they don't rub either. The grip is definitely better. The original tyres weren't up to much in the grip dept.! 👍
Just got this today. Came home and it was here. Unpacked and charging up ready for a bash tomorrow. Cant wait to have a go. The thing is a gorgeous looking beast 😊🙏🙌
