I wonder what kind of person J.S. Bach was. I wish he had left more letters and diaries like Mozart. Maybe he was too busy to have time, or maybe he thought it was a waste of paper, but I wish he had left more for his fans 300 years from now.
Bold. Impassioned. Pleading.Yearning. Sad. Pensive. Reflective. Heartfelt. Both the Fragility snd Strength of the Human condition. Profound Music. I need to see snd feel this live in concert ! Even if i have to fly to Poland . Bucket List for sure. ❤👌👍⭐🔔🇮🇩
I know everyone compared Weinberg to Shostakovich but in this Symphony 19 I hear occasional traces of Mahler in the high violins. But this is a very touching, emotional symphony in his OWN voice. Thank goodness all his symphonies and concertos, string Quartets, etc are recorded for the world to know ! This Symphony is captivating. A master orchestration. The development and treatment of themes is brilliant genius.
Great work, he also wrote four other tone poems in the late stages of his life. Golden Spinning Wheel, The Water Goblin, Noonday Witch and Wild Dove, all very enjoyable.
This is a beauty. Has the intimacy of a string quartet just enlarged. This has melody and energy in a modern idiom not really dissonant. It almost has that British pastorale style. I'm really enjoying this. Splendid string writing. 😊
Who is this composer? Does anyone have a bio? It's an awfully good piece of music I like. A familiar modern idiom. Holds together very well. Second movement strongest, most expressive. This is quite a find.
Szell's recording is still probably the best all round but has stubborn recording faults -- which we all accept because it is great. Daniel's approach is more forensic and that really suits the craftsmanship aspect which Hindemith so admired in this work from his English friend. Walton actually used two themes by Hindemith in the work, the first from the 'cello concerto and the second from 'Mathis der Maler'. Britten also used the second Hindemith theme in his audacious 'Our Hunting Fathers' some decades earlier. Paul Daniel's experience in opera conducting really enlivens the 7th Variation, which lacks finesse in the Szell version.
These are all incredibly beautiful pieces, beautifully played by Maestro Lima, in spite of the comments criticizing the tuning of the piano. Does anyone know how to get the score for this wonderful opus?
Olá senhor Borges, poderia me dizer onde posso encontrar a letra das músicas “Floresta do Amazonas” e “Ameríndia” do Villa Lobos? Não consigo encontrar em lado algum. Obrigada!
