As a K-State fan living in Cornhucksterland since the mid 1990s, I got to see Keegan Johnson's dad, Clester Johnson, play at wideout for Nebraska and was very impressed with him. I was so excited when Keegan joined the Cats. If he stays healthy this year, our passing game will have the NCAA's best hair, because it will be "Johnson & Johnson" all the way!
I feel like this years offense will start to resemble a lot more the likes of the offenses we had with Bishop and Roberson at the helm. They were explosive ( averaged 45-48 ppg). They pushed the ball downfield, they heavily used the TE in the pass game, they had a healthy qb run game but also got the ball to their playmaker RBs. Would also love to see a wr jailbreak screen to Dylan Edwards like we used to do with Quincy Morgan. Averys running style reminds me a ton of Roberson. Really excited for the next 3 years.
@@dingerboi4 did you see those explosive offenses I was talking about? The skill players we have today resemble those teams. I'd certainly be ok averaging 45-48 points a game again. Lol
Would be a TON of fun if they got Dybantsa for a year…he was cooking when I saw him at Peach Jam and EVERY (and I do mean every) college coach you could think of was watching him
Understandable, the man is option No. 1 for everyone in CBB right now. Would love to land him and see what that does for the future of K-State recruiting!
It is so exciting to see K-state locking down on some top prospects. They made the top schools for Aj Dybantsa as well. It will be I think a great booster for the program and eventually make a new title of "Purple Reign"
@@milstator All the major recruiting sites have him heavily leaning Kansas, he has a large adidas deal which heavily pushes him towards the adidas schools (Kansas and Ohio State), and Dajaun Harris is gone at the end of this year so they are probably promising him the Starting role at Point and rumor has it he wants to transition front the 2 to the 1 plus Kansas can match or beat any NIL offer
Im not particularly feeling the lavender, i prefer the dark purple, but im not going to throw a fit if they do an alternate uni with mostly lavender, especially of it hypes the guys up. I've thought that an alternate blackout uniform with a matte black helmet and oversized silver powercat would be pretty cool.
Well his speed is guaranteed to change based on weekly roster updates. That I’m not worried about. But I do feel confident they’ll get the hair right too. Hard to leave a dude earning Heisman hype messed up in the game
You look like a 60 year old retired K-State alum 😂 That being said Fitz talked about this a couple weeks ago. I do like the idea and the alternate uniforms look great in lavendar even though its an old lady color.
You mentioned HISTORY so..... Looking at the 1975-77 uniforms, their almost lavender instead of purple, definitely not today's dark purple. Snyder didn't like the light purple/lavender colors and branded them with the past losing history of K-State football. I've heard stories that Snyder wanted as dark of purple as was possible to make. I've heard it referred to as "Snyder Purple". When the basketball team moved away from lavender in the late '80's, early'90's they started losing. When the football team did the same thing at the same time, they started winning!?! Adding lavender highlights to football might be okay. Embracing lavender as a primary color in football make me very afraid of days of losing football season after losing football season. That's what K-State was known for when light purple/lavender was associated with Kansas State football, losing. That's my opinion, I could be wrong!
You can’t let superstition keep the program back. People think this stuff doesn’t matter. Go listen to Lincoln Cure talk about Oregon, it matters to the recruits to some extent. Trust the staff and talent on the field, and let the kids have fun.
@@243bmk I only have to hear "Lavender tops and purple shorts" and the only thing I can see is Rolando Blackman rising up to drill a jump shot to beat the #1 seeded Beav's in the '81 NCAA tournament. Just give me Lav over Purple right in my veins all day.
@@richardstones6445 yeah, I understand that is a nostalgic look as well, but I I was born in 82 and I'm turning 42. There's a ton of our fan base that never got to see that stuff. That's just my least favorite look.
Absolutely! Technically there’s a few different coaches on staff that aren’t black with Carp, Winchester, and others, but it seems to be something that a lot of guys really appreciate and align with. Really glad to see that prospects feel at home with our staff!
One thing that stands out to me is that we have had a good recruiting run for top HS players. Dai Dai, RJ, David (Castillo), and now trying to get Cam and Maleek. I think K state can turn a new leaf for the HS recruits in the top 50 circle.
Absolutely! I think the Cats are definitely an up-and-coming scene on the recruiting front. Wouldn’t expect it to take very long til they land a McDonald’s AA out of HS.
I say let the national media have their piece and we fly under the radar through the non-con. When we start beating teams in January and February, the narrative will change. When has national media ever respected K-State for any sport? Even when Snyder 1.0 was coaching?
N'Guessan really only got slightly better on the defensive end. His shooting percentage and free throw percentage were way down from the year before. Obviously Nowell and Johnson made it easier for him to get better shots, so hopefully with better players this year, the same will occur.
I would argue offensively his confidence with the ball in his hands improved. Not that that’s the bulk of what he’s best at considering he’s a defensive and rebounding unit, but DNG is another example of the studs that Tang helps to develop.
8th in the Big 12 is still likely a tournament team. That's probably fair considering all of the starters are going to be transfers (+potentially Castillo) with only two of them being starters from major conference teams.
I still feel a lot better on that but I’m in the reality of finishing around 5th. Think the front court is going to be too much to handle for the majority of teams in the league. We’ll see though! Thanks for watching my friend!
@@JoeTillery I can see anything from 1-8. We didn't have any players at the level of Dug and Hawkins last year. I'm just still wary from last season where the team never really got any better.
Great info. Very entertaining. Talk too fast. I'm probably the only one that think this (talking fast). Start very fast slowed to a normal pace a round the 2 minute mark.
Nah I’ve actually heard that a lot haha. It’s something I’m working on still. Thank you so much for watching! It’s a work in progress haha but we’ll get there!
On the gas, full send. Roster is the deepest I can remember. If they are talking about Castillo getting legit minutes as a freshman, I think the rotation is 10 deep at least, early in the season.
We’ll see what we can make happen man! Thanks for watching! Goal eventually is to have fans from the community on as guests, but have to figure it out first.
Absolutely man, the dude is a special player. Excited to see what he can do out there. Also can’t hurt having him guard Dug McDaniel every day in practice too
I think we could play with Dug and David if we Coleman at the 3 works out. Honestly I think DC will be better than Dai Dai was for us last year. Dudes got a complete game and shouldn’t make bad decisions.
