I was dropped off at college like a feral animal in 1993 and told by my Dad to sign the loan papers. not teaching me anything about debt, or life. Due to unforseen cicumstances I have never made a payment to this day. As a sober adult I'm now looking into facing my problems so I can fix them. Two original loans were about $7,500 a piece ($15,000) (Currently around $68,000) I'm looking into all options and people keep telling me to look into the Fed/Gov to forgive them. The last letter I received a few years ago is that the loans are no longer in private company hands. Where do you start?

I was a volunteer firefighter for 18years while my daughters were in school. I took out all parent plus loans, Can I apply for Save or the emergency responder payback? I have 100k accumulated in interest and my icr payments are 1700/month. I am 65 and want to retire before 90. Any suggestions?

Thank you so much for this video. I am a physician and am doing PSLF now on the SAVE plan. My payment without SAVE would be more than my mortgage each month. I have roughly 2.5 years left to meet the 120 qualifying payments, but now with this additional pause where i can't even pay towards my qualifying payments, it just feels like this will never end. I am beyond frustrated. Thank you again for the information you provide!

Whoever created the public student loan forgiveness program should be taken out of our government because it is the most discriminatory thing they could do. Tons of government jobs are pointless and a waste and give nothing back to society and there are tons of private sector jobs that give way more to society than any government job could ever. It's just not fair and shouldn't be legal to discriminate against people who decide to work for a private company. It's discrimination

We'll say it is unconstitutional what things would have to be removed and what things could we keep. I'm all for this student loan forgiveness because I've got over 100k in student loans myself, but if Biden did something sneaky and illegal for political reasons and to get votes, then that is not okay because for one It's unconstitutional and two they can just take it away from us anytime they want. Biden should not get credit for doing unconstitutional things. Now I'm praying that it was constitutional or the liberal supreme Court justices that only think with their hearts regardless of the Constitution will vote for the save plan. God it's really hard being a Republican sometimes when you have student loans and your own side is against you. But then again if it's unconstitutional you can get upset about it but you can't blame them.

For a federal student loan called FAFSA, it is a double whammy. It shouldn't be forgiveness. The payment should be in full. You borrow, then you pay or take one class at a time. Nobody forces you to take a loan.

You can’t file bankruptcy on student loans. The federal government makes it against the law. The banks lobby to keep it this way. I filed for bankruptcy in 2020 my lawyer told me they can’t do anything about student loans. If you sue the bank because of other circumstance then that’s different. That only applies to specific situations ( the school or bank was found guilty of fraud etc. ) That has nothing to do with bankruptcy. #clickbait

You’re incredibly misinformed. But that’s not your fault. There’s a whole myth that’s produced by the media, lawyers, etc. that filing bankruptcy on student loans is impossible. They’re wrong. You can. It’s just hard.

There is no such thing as student loan forgiveness, The load does not disappear. It is a student loan transfer, The loan is transferred to other people to pay. Anyone that took out a loan they cant repay is an idiot and anyone that thinks it is ok to transfer this loan to someone else is even a bigger idiot.

Can you explain how impending retirement will affect eligibility for any of the IDR plans? I’m 69 years old, have a good income, but $40,000 in student loan debt (paying steadily since 2000) plus large credit card debt. With SAVE blocked, what are the options for us senior citizens who don’t want to work until we die? Thanks.

The only documents i have is the original promissory note. do i have a shot?

Unemployed for a year r/t health issues. Still fighting for disabled child for SSA. Im still going to my Dr appts and may have to do disability as well. I've had 3 student lenders in a year. Can't ever get a hold of them. Approved PSLF, tried HRSA ( never could get a hold of them for past 7 yrs). Was RN still am ( cant walk). I worked through the whole pandemic w/o hazard pay. I purchased 2 yrs ago, my 1st home. I was a republican, paid my taxes, and everyone's stay at home pay and PPP loans for years. I paid, and i owe more now than before covid... while paying the whole time. Im on medicaid insurance. I dont have a dime to my name, except my home. I can't lose my home. What are my options? I can't risk losing my home in bankruptcy. There are lots of people like myself. What are we supposed to do? I have to leave my home to my disabled kid. Yeah, i have a psych dr as well for anyone inquiring, but i only know of one way loans will get discharged.

There is someone on RU-vid claiming if you have Navient loans that were originally Sallie Mae you don't have to pay because they don't have the original paperwork. Is that true? I get it might be true in some cases but he made it sound like all of them. Are you licensed in Massachusetts? Thank you for this video it was very helpful.
@reggierec9234
@reggierec9234 2 дня назад
Sounds like a scam. I am still paying for mine and I have Sallie Mae Navient. It will be easier to get forgiveness and you should also see if your school is eligible because some people get their loans forgiven because the school they went to was fraudulent or sued. You should consolidate the loan/s with the fed. If not you will be eligible for forgiveness after 20 years of min payments

Here are my problems, while I agree with his points, they don't address what is distasteful about forgiveness: 1. Everyone got told the same lies. I get that student loans were shady. That is why I chose not to go to college. I had the grades and SAT scores to go. My parents were middle class and couldn’t afford it and I couldn't afford it. 2. Even at 18 I understood how loans work. A lot of people take every opportunity to not make a payment or only make the minimum, even when they CAN afford to pay more and then complain about how it never goes away. 3. This is the biggest for me; the people who lied to you about the loans. The people that lied to you about you have to go to college to be successful, these are the same people you are listening to and are promising debt forgiveness. They creates the problem and they are selling you a solution and you are still just taking their word that it all work out okay.

President Barack Obama was the one who said all young Americans have a right to go to College and the government will provide and guarantee this money for each student. I am old and had gone to collage but did not finish, I worked until the age of 72. When I was young not all students that had gone to collage finished for one reason or another. I also believe not all people have the ability and aptitude for a 4 year degree. I also think that many men would be better off learning a trade and if you are skilled and willing to stay the course and also willing to learn work hard learn your trade the pay can be very good. I blame President Barack Obama for trapping America's youth with these staggering bills because with the government guaranteeing this money the collages increased the coast for collage substantially and I believe these students did not really understand what they were getting into.

Heres the thing. I went to Lehigh Valley College FKA Allentown Business School back in 2002. I was lied to about the classes i would take, and was all but made to get or take out another student loan but because i could no longer afford a federal student loan (but could have), i was made to take a private student loan. Knowing i have no knowledge of this or what it is they saw money and went for it. Took advantage. On the application though they want you to name names and this was decades ago. The school had a lawsuit against them as of 2005 for the conduct they gave and lied to a lot of students. Back my family could not afford to pay money for a lawyer unfortunately. So i had to keep paying on these loans. thankfully my federal loans were forgiven but now i still owe an annoying $950.00 with a ridiculously high interest rate of 18.375 they blame on me. HOW?!! when the payment is this low now. It aint congress or the prime rate or the way the world is now. They blame it on the lender at the time the loan was given. Well I have the original promissory note and it does not include what interest rate they had for me on that document. Because they could hit me with whatever variable rate they wanted because they can get away with it. Smh. its wrong. with all this said, should i even try to fill this application out? i dont even recall the names of these people i was sitting in front of at the time of the student loans i filled out nor the teachers. None of them are even there anymore.
