Independant Zippo consumer and enthusiast, doing unboxings, honest reviews, comparisons, guides and tutorials on Zippo products.
I created this channel because I have been unable to find other Australian Zippo content relevent to my region of the world, and found through experience there is a small difference in purchasing genuine Zippo products in Australia compared to what I have found online for reviews and unboxings in other parts of the world, which I cover in some of my videos. I also have discovered it is a litlle difficult to find information on some of the products and product changes, my goal is to put out the information I had to research and investigate myself, to help others with their questions and concerns.
I hope my viewers find the content on my channel informative and helpful, if there is something I have not covered, let me know and I will investigate and upload my findings.
People who say it should have a beefier hinge are correct, it SHOULD have a beefier hinge if it is supposed to be "heavy duty." I don't "snap" or "pop" the lighter open, and I flick the lid towards my hand so that it strikes my hand before it bangs all the way open; I don't think the extra weight of the lid will put any more stress on the hinge. Although the difference in size is barely noticeable visually, it feels much more substantial in my hand. Going back to the standard after using the armoryhe standard almost feels flimsy. If you like to do tricks or bang the lid around opening your lighter you should probably stick with a standard. If you're not "aggressive" with your lighter an armor just feels great in hand.
The bit about discharging the battery completely is no longer true. It was for older batteries, but newer ones should stay as close to 50% for maximum longevity.
I just took a matte brass used zippo, or maybe it was high polish originally and sanded it with 320 grit sandpaper in one direction horizontally, and it became exactly a shiny new “brushed” brass zippo, looks identical🔥👌🎯
I refill my lighter every morning before I leave. I’ve never had a problem with it running out of fluid. As for the flint I just put a spare one under the felt pad. And I don’t need a tool to loosen the flint spring because I just screw it in hand tight with my fingers.
I got a plain brass zippo from Walmart for $13. And a mirror polished brass zippo slim on Amazon for $29. This video is dumb as fuck. They’re not expensive whatsoever.
Lmao this is pathetic. Standard Zorro 902 has a wall thickness of 0.80 mm. That beats both standard Zippo and Armor Zippo for a fraction of their price. Also, Zorro hinges are more durable from my testing. Zippo is cool and all, but there are definitely better products for a better price. If you don't care about the brand, go look for alternatives. For example, Zorro 912 is 150g worth of brass beast, which even has an o ring to prevent gas evaporation.
Back in 1962, there was a Zippo customer who returned his lighter to Zippo stating that the lighter is too heavy. George Blaisdell returned the lighter to the customer together with his personal check of $3.50 with a note: Suggest you give it to one of your stronger friends. But Zippo listens to its customers. Zippo has indeed over the years worked towards making the Zippo lighter weigh lighter. You would want to have a lightweight lighter. And armor Zippos defeat that purpose. It only makes the lighter weigh heavier.
You know, it's hard to make a claim on wall thickness variation based on results one gets from a cheapo no name measuring tool. I do tend to believe you, and that's were the problem lies. I shouldn't go by belief alone in what I think about Zippo's manufacturing quality and American manufacturing quality in general. In fact, one may say that the cheapo device of yours could in a sense be spreading "fake science."
Thanks so much for the video. I just got my high polish brass in the mail and I'm debating on sending it back because of the micro scratching on it. It's a very controlled micro scratching pattern, which leads me to believe they get polished before being shipped out due to brass' susceptibility to tarnishing? Is your unused high polish brass lighter untarnished because you haven't used it? Because if yes, waiting for mine to tarnish so that the scratches would just tarnish off would not work, because I don't intend on using it. So, I might have to send it back and hope to be lucky on my next order...
I just got my Iraq 2003 Zippo lighter back from Zippo for new replacement hinge and the new one they have put on the zippo it sticks out well far like double so not sure what hinge they have stuck on it but definitely not the same hinge as the original.
I wish I had seen this video before I got my Armor zippo because the whole reason I got it was that I thought it would be more durable but in reality it was more fragile at the most delicate point, the hinge. I feel betrayed a bit by zippo
Very nice addition to your collection. Good investment as well. Those seem to triple in price after very few years. You will be glad you got one. Plus it's just plain Awesome.
Hard to find in the states have a big intage look with 5 hinge pins and slashes one crome and another in brass , I like the three pin hinge better looking to me I will hunt a couple down !!! I had a gold Marlboro lighter Gold even the insert was gold Rat Ride Sleep I had it in a tool box for ten years Filled it up lit first flick still works fine the brass one got crunched when I moved must send it in for repair I have had many will get more !! !
The main reason I was considering an armor case is because I was hoping the hinge would be beefier. Instead it's the same piece of shit hinge. Guess I'll be sticking with Zorro lighters. Maybe one day zippo will offer something like a stainless steel case/hinge. Until then, they're overpriced garbage.
Zorro for the win. The standard version has thickness of 0.8 mm, which beats both standard and armor Zippo. Not to mention that the hinges are superior to the Zippo garbage. I can't understand why people still buy this overpriced 💩.
Try the plastic bag trick from Zippo Fanatic 77 Outdoors cut the corner of a freezer bag after filling your Zippo place the bag on the end of the insert as it helps fule consumption !
