I like what you ended up with on your DIY finish. I like to use renaissance wax for preservation coating. It dries hard, durable, clear, archival and is reversible. Also a quick breeze to apply. It was formulated by the British museum and is used by museums worldwide to protect nearly everything without changing the characteristics of the piece. Also works on fabrics.
My tumbled brass armor's tumble texture disappeared by itself once the protective coat wore off & tarnishing took place. It looks totally far from the tumbled brass armor case I bought. I guess it's best to buy high polish chrome instead as it's more durable.
If you place a new clear protective coat on the brass eventually it will get rubbed off again. Maybe it's best to leave it tarnished & just do some cleaning once in a while.
Your finish looks good! But I am wondering…. If I was to follow the process in taking of the black Matt and just used the brasso, would that alone remove the tumble look? I’m not fussed about the tarnished finish as I do like that look.
