I'm a transport enthusiast from London, trains are my bread and butter, buses are a more recent addition but one I'm very much enjoying, and planes also part of my hobby.
I'm a graphic design student, so all of my channel art was created by myself.
I also care deeply about image quality. My current setup is a Sony Xperia 1 IV in a DJI Osmo Mobile 3 to film all videos in 3840x1644@60fps. I shoot using Cinema Pro with Venice CS colour processing, which then gets colour graded in the edit.
Previous setups (Dates of recording): Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Handheld or Tripod-mounted: Channel Start to March 2017 Samsung Galaxy S6, Tripod-mounted: March 2017 to February 2019 Sony Xperia 1 ii, Gibmal-mounted: September 2021 to April 2023 Sony Xperia 1 iv, Gimbal-mounted: April 2023 to Present
Great vid cam! But one thing i realised, the south coast irl is well, quite leasurely. Why not add some Ex-London buses, and yes. In medway id hope you remember we had S JUA, T FGN and Y UGC ALX400s, LF52 MPDs and Y TKJ SLFs. I think poole and bournemouth if you get that far should be a sortoff hub for old buses. So maybe instead of getting rid of the esteems, you could move them there and just redo the morse logo on it for the operator? Also we have SK74 MMCs in medway aswell as Ex-Aylesbury E400s if you didnt know. And if you do, ride the remaining B7s they are dwindling. SK74s Are tracking as withdrawn 6440/6441. Come ride them some point idk. Sorry about the long comment. Your series is just too perfect. This and glasgow.
32GB of ram on my newest gaming laptop, most games still hover around 16GB max use but CBM ... eats the lot and then lags some more haha, be warned ...
hey cam! i have 2 questions: 1: so i know you bought the solent limited routes a while ago, but where did you find these B5TL MK2s. i cant find them anywhere on the workshop. 2: how do you come up with the brands for national busways? they look so cool.
Hiya! So, 1; the B5s came from a discord server and I believe they are still to be released publicly, but I was given prior permission to show them on the channel so I assume they are to be released at some point and as soon as they are, I will mention it in the following South Coast video. And 2; I'm studying graphic design. The Morse brand wasn't actually intended to fit a "National Busways" thing, but was meant for a more independent Southern Vectis. I used morse code because of the maritime connection of the local area- the Solent was one of the busiest areas of the world for passenger ships at one point, including the Titanic's route. As for Landore, I wanted an 'older' livery to accompany Morse as the morse scheme looked way too modern to go on something like a Dart from new. It was Landore that birthed the National Busways concept, and it's own inspiration was the airline liveries designed by Landore, notably British Airways' old livery. From there I decided that Morse would fit a more modern National Busways as around the '00s and early '10s the idea of 'national' services in certain sectors became really unattractive, so adapting the Morse scheme originally introduced at South Coast's Solent and Southern Vectis sectors was to be how National Busways localised their branding. Sorry this is so long but I wanted to answer you properly.
@@camjkerman thats a wonderful insight! i dont mind the reply is so long i really enjoyed reading it! but information like that for question 2 would be a wonderful read. and also thanks for letting me know that the B5 isnt actually public yet.
@@OTG9.3 Repaint templates are available for most if not all buses in CBM on the official City Bus Manager discord, sometimes you can find links to templates in workshop posts as well. Templates will typically be either .pdn or .psd, .pdn files can be opened natively in Paint.NET, which is free, and has an available plug-in which enables it to open .psd files which would otherwise require Adobe Photoshop. With your template in Paint.NET or Photoshop, you can create your livery, usually there will be a layer called livery or paint me or something along those lines. I'm a graphic designer and make use of a programme called Illustrator to design my liveries, which makes the whole process easier for me, rather than doing everything in Paint.NET or Photoshop. I may do a tutorial video for creating liveries- both conventionally and my way- in the near future. Anyway, once you're happy with your creation, save/export it as a .png file to a memorable place on your system, I have a dedicated folder for all my repaints, further categorised to different sectors like Solent Red and Southern Vectis to make finding the livery I want easier. Then select the import repaint option in the game when buying or repainting a bus, and you'll have your livery in game.
The hire-out fleet will consist of spare regular buses, and coaches only where coaches are also used for regular routes. As for branding they will wear a generic National Busways livery.
Yes! I reckon it will be quite easy to reach Exeter and maybe even further into Devon in this save- my PC's ability to run a save that large notwithstanding- but Devon and Cornwall seem like they'd make for quite an interesting bus network.
The One bus i have found weird were the Southampton Ecobus which were Dennis darts (9SDL darts to be exact) with cng canisters on their roofs. I'm a US viewer and i was wondering your thoughts on American buses?
I've not heard about those before, I'll have to look into them. That '00s era of buses and some of the ways they tried making buses more environmentally friendly are quite interesting to me. As for my thoughts on American buses, honestly I've never really looked into them. I know ADL have a variant of the Enviro500 that's been proving quite popular in Canada and some parts of the USA, and SEPTA have some Enviro200s which look really out of place, but aside from that I've not given them much thought. I'm half-American myself and want to go to Boston, MA at some point, the Silver Line BRT is interesting.
Unfortunately there aren't any UK bendy buses for City Bus Manager right now. I believe MrChips is working on the bendy Citaro but having loads of problems with it. I have been tempted to try my hand at converting DerNik's Citaros to right hand drive, and that would include the bendy ones.
I actually really like that. A road closure could come up and then the game will have you rework routes and timetables around it until the road reopens
32GB laprop arrived this week, i9 also, I can confirm ... CBM takes it ALLLLLLLL 😂 ... on the plus side the game even when it stops repsonding tends not to crash ... Just for youtubers you're kind of laggin', we understand tho' 😂
Yeah CBM is a massive ram hog, I've had some upgrades for my system in mind for a while but because of how old my PC is, getting any more than 16GB of ram into it would require a newer CPU as my current one only supports DDR3 ram, which would require a new motherboard, which at that point is basically a whole new system. I'm not sure which settings I can change to improve performance given it's a CPU/RAM bottleneck rather than a GPU one but sometimes it gets annoying on my end too.
The City Bus Manager Discord server is where I would start. It's pretty essential for things like that. The templates for british buses will be in a thread called UK Updated Templates in the Modding_EN channel.
Noticed this on some mods, fleet no's on side and back but not the front ... There's a mod out now with a small bus compete with customisable wonky blind, exceplenty stuff 😂
I like to keep at least an hour between buses coming in and going back out to account for late running and congestion in the depot, repairs need doing etc. Means I use a couple of extra buses per route, but keeps the fleet running to time and in mechanical order, during evenings after 8pm, I'll let the time drop to 45mins between a bus coming in and going back out again.
I like that a lot! There's a fair few MS vehicles sat at PO not doing anything since the Springburn locals went to OA. By now there's something for most of them to do but still more than we need. I could do that with the DAs if early withdrawal is on the cards
Currently no plans to replace the MS type, but working out a good way to incorporate the Solo as a second midibus type alongside the DS type, possibly on a 'garage preference' basis as I have done with the variants of the ALX400.
Apologies for the late upload of this one. I put up a community post earlier explaining why, but in short I had about 9 failed renders last night and even my last ditch attempt had failed. I have no idea why the renders kept failing as this time it went without a hitch without me doing anything any differently.
😅 are dammit only just got this model yesterday and I know you normally upload on a Monday / Tuesday how was going to tell you about this mod put yardie got it it's a lovely model I think I'll be good for some of your route😊
arrrgggh you didn't go off camera for the decker naming sesh like you said you were 😂 where's that fast forward !!! Great series as ever, as per Glasgow, keep it up 👍🏻 (until like my saves the thing grinds to a halt lols) ...
Hello, I'm new here. I am a fan of City Bus Manager. I noticed that your playlists are not up to date. Would it be possible for you to make playlists in order so that I can binge-watch your series? Thanks!
Welcome! I've updated the South Coast playlist to have all 29 episodes as currently uploaded, and created a new playlist for the West Scotland series with all 16 of its current episodes. Enjoy!
Good to know the models working on your end cos when I have it installed it was a transparent bus it was there but nobody could see it I do kind of like this I wish they still kicking about😊😊😊😊

I agree that the automatic scheduling is horrible. And my routes are much simpler (I am currently doing 0500 to 1215 and 1400 to 2130 everywhere). That gives me two 8-hour time windows. Then I adjust the timing of route to get 1 (set time to actual length) or 2 (set time 1/2 total route time, etc) or 3 busses per window. (Which would be 2, 4, or 6 total busses). The good news is, once set up, you can copy yesterday's schedule and paste it to today and only deal with new routes you have added). This means if you have at least 2x drivers to busses that each bus can do 2 shifts per route and each driver does 1 hour shift per day. But the auto scheduler can not figure out either the drivers or the buses in that very simple scenario.
If you go into the schedule, next to the top centre is a button to look at previous days, this will allow you to copy the schedule from a day where everything was sorted, and then just past it in. Does mean the staff might be a little messed up, so best to hit the assign drivers button after pasting in the old schedule. Where did you get your UK buses from??
All the buses I use are available on the workshop. The liveries I all design myself, I had someone else ask if I could upload them onto the Workshop and if/when I do that I'll also make a collection of the buses I use on the channel to go along with that.

I think that the 108 should form part of a larger network of outer suburban routes, maybe the 100 series could be a collection of routes, a bit like the SL[x] Superloop network in London, rather than one massive outer suburban loop that would take over 3 hours to complete and would be prone to delays...
29:50 when you contribute to the map data, can you do a video on how you would do it, as there's so many holes in my local area and in places I go to a lot so I'd love to know how to fill it in!
I'll def look at doing that. I've made a few unsaved trial edits to see what the process is like. It doesn't look too complicated so it's something I'll strongly consider.
